hey mythic snakes are our friends and by all means if you wanna TRY and do that to all snakes like the black Mamba or king cobra be my guest, chances are if you do we won't be seeing anymore youtube comments from you
I will kill any snake on sight snakes are evil and dangerous they should all be cut in hslf with a shovel or a hoe Kill all snakes make it safe for humans.
@mythic89 I see you're one of those religious freaks that hates every creature that has been marked in the bible as evil. Go read a decent book like a snake encyclopedia.
People that harm or kill snakes should be punished by law. These things have been exsisting for many many thousands of years. Longer than any human. We have No right to wipe them out. That is morally and spiritually wrong. These animals Rule!!!!!! HERPS FOR LIFE!
@HerperTyler19 i see what ur sayn but u have to agree if they present a danger to kids or sum1 they have the rite to defend themselves and if killin the snake is the only option thats wat they got to do.
@PROTOpaintballer96 I can't imagine the situation where killing the snake would be the only option. In most cases, the snake is the one cornered, and there is always the option of allowing it an avenue of escape.
@PROTOpaintballer96 I don't think there is a situation where killing the snake is the only, or even the smart, option. Snakes are very nonaggressive to humans, we're too big to eat so the only thing we are to them is a danger. Most snake bites happen because someone tried to kill the snake and got too close, and if they had just let it mind its own business it would never have bitten them.
yes you are right about it being a preserved area, but when you dont allow people to use tools while handling venomous snakes then your asking for trouble. and your encourging bad habits when it comes to handling these amazing creatures. the tools just keep the handler safe and the snake in good hands but yes i couldnt agree with you more that this place should be protected. not using tools is how i got bitten by a western cottonmouth 4 years ago.
i also saw a guy swerve out of his way and intentionally killed a snake near there, fully grown black rat snake. jet black and so cool. i felt so bad for taht snake.
i can't believe the guy said "POISONOUS!" ARGH! whenever some kid at school says "oh is that snake poisonous? i just give him a thousand yard stare and yell "IT'S VENEMOUS" Gah! can't believe it.
but on a lighter note... lolz i go there every year and i always see a lot of snakes. the worst is with those big groups that make all that noise and scare the snakes away
ive heard of this place in various videos and other sources, wish to visit it one day. I love how u guys gave credit to Steve Erwin for inspiring so many young people to cherish and understand these creatures and show them the respect they deserve. He sure had a great impact on my life, R.I.P Steve. We love ya man
I live in Vandalia, and its 3 hours south of where i live. Past carbondale. Its awesome dude, if you go on a nice day theres no way you can come back without having seen tons of cottonmouths
"Is this early in the year, or late in the year?"

I live pretty close to Snake Road. I'm a zoologist specializing in herpetology and it is most certainly a magnificent place.

Those hooks gotta go {in this preserved area} . There should be no sticks being used either.

@MySnake18 I don't think they are actually meaning for the snakes to be handled. Banning hooks is to try to discourage illegal collection.

Its awesome, i go there 3 times a year, because i only live about 3 hours north of it in Fayette county , Illinois.
and snake road isnt even the only good snake spot, there are tons of junk spots and old abandonned barns all within a few miles of LaRue Pine Hills
