The scene at 0:53 isn't in the film but it is in the novel, its where hollis mason gets attacked by a gang of thugs and they murder him by smashing his prize trophy over his skull.
The clock used in the Watchmen comic book series is a reference to The Doomsday Clock. On page 18 of issue #1, a newspaper on Adrian Veidt's desk bears the headline "Nuclear Doomsday Clock Stands At Five To Twelve, Warn Experts". Clocks on walls throughout the series display this time.

He even makes a joke out of it. I believe there is also a productional poster of him taking the shot from the building. So it's pretty much confirmed.
What could have the same weird extraterrestrial impact as a teleported mutant psychic squid and will the old joke be intact, the one Orson Welles told so well back in his 1938 radio programme of The War of the Worlds?

well when i read the ending, i interpreted Veidts plan as creating a fictional enemy that would strike so much fear into the human race, we'd have no choice but to put aside our differences and band together. Hence the gigantic 4th dimensional squid.

Sadly the guy named rape is right. Screenings and scripts confirm that ozzy uses manhattan to generate storm like clouds that make explosive fucking lightning. But that could fit in because manhattan leaves to become god at the end anyway. So the earth could still unite to fight some other force. What im sad about is i loved the first 4 pages of chapter 12 and i was hoping for some really violent cinima D:

dude they announced yesterday that the judge that ruled the lawsuit against warner bros. is now deciding whether or not Watchmen is going to be delayed....the judge is making his decision on the 20th
hopefully he decides in favour of Warner Bros. I've been waiting for this movie since I first heard about it in the summer. It looks like it's going to be hectic!
