Yes you can turbo any of the 22r or re trucks. just convert them to fuel injection, run the right exhaust manifold with turbo and all of the rest of the shit. Lc makes kits along with lots of other companies.

@coombsy16 What about my reliability,just got an 86 4wd yota last year, 22R engine less than 8,000 miles bored .30 over,Weber 32/36 Carb on an Offenhauser Intake Manifold,D.U.I.custom built distributor,Pacesetter header, Dynomax Muffler with catalytic removed, I'm just under 140 HP,I had my Weber re-jetted and tweaked,and content with what I have,I've got a basic camshaft and everything internal is still basically stock,except the bore,it's my daily driver and I drive it easy, I want it to last

@coombsy16 the R series motor is virtually indestructible. It's basically a large block of cast iron and very slow turning. People have built these to much higher HP levels without issue.

Back pressure stops turbos from spooling... When you want to spool a turbo you want exhaust velocity.

@mercedesfan650 22RE is a dime a dozen; Toyota put them in a lot of things (pickup, 4runner, van, older Celica). The 22R, however, is rare because the rock crawlers and circle track drivers like them.

how much u got in her that was a nice run from about 60 ft. on u may need a little more back pressure for torque out of the hole try wielding a large wash at theend of the tail pipe im sixteen just boght a 88 and did that it add prolly 5 ft lbs of torque dont kno how well ud be on top end with the turbo though

@jsteelio71 People who reference the term "back pressure" when talking about exhausts don't understand what an exhaust system does or the physics taking place inside of them. Try learning about something called "scavenge" and how the size and length of exhaust runners affects this.
