That's not true. That's happened to my uncle. He had gone with his life, been out for years, and they tricked him. He didn't speak the language or anything and they dumped him in Cambodia. He came here when he was a toddler.

my brother went to visit cambodia and on his way back, he was stopped and his green card was taken away. he was then ordered to be deported but was fortunate enough to have a trial and received free help from stanford law students; on top of that, the judge in san francisco understood that 3 misdemeanors was not a good enough reason to ship a person away from his family.

its easy to criticize but i'll tell you what. The government doest give a shit about you no matter who you are. Just don't get in trouble even by accident. you could shoot an intruder and get sent to jail. there are plenty of ways the gov can screw you.

It was a US Democratic Legislature that wrote the Bill and a voted for it and sent it to a Democrat President. It was a Democrat President who signed it into law. Bill Clinton signed it into law I believe in 1996. They may have been deported under president Bush's administration but that would mean Bush's administration was following the law...Not like these thugs being interviewed. Is Holly a butch-dyke or what??? Cambodia is a lovely country otherwise.

Cambodia is a tough country, things arent easy like here in developed countries, I have alot of family members who scrape just to make a living. You're right about it being a law be4 bush got into office, and they had been deporting since then. Only thing is, I just think that there should be a way for them to apply for citizenship.

You are right on the money! the stiff immigration laws were put in place in 1996 under clinton. It is an experiment gone bad! cause with the garbage that leaves this country, 20 times more brilliant minds follow suit. People who commit petty crimes should not be deported, especially if they have families here. Drunk driving, smoking a joint, fighting, almost anything you can think of carries a deportation burden if you read the fine print.

No, if they break the law, even if the law is petty they need to be deported. How dare they come to another country and break any laws. It is a privilege for them to be here in the first place. I was born and raised here and I have never been arrested for anything. It isn't hard to follow the law.

millions of people brake the law, but only a few get caught. I just read my friend the riot act today for driving drunk. Had she been pulled over and foreign, that's it! anyway, holding and deporting cost around 10k for mexicans and canadians. for the rest it is around 200k to even 500k! I would much rather have the money used for something productive. I also don't support imprisoning people for years after they have already been punished and the blatant abuse. Again it is a question of opinion.
