  • No brook trout were lifted in 2010 at the Streetsville Fish Ladder. So whom ever told you this info was wrong.

  • @CreditRiverAnglers This info is straight from one of the organizations founding members, and even one of the best fly fishing guides in the area with 25 years of guiding experience knows all about it...

  • @andrewh4 Perhaps you could let us know the name of the person relaying this false info so we can correct them. As I stated, no brook trout were lifted last fall out of the fish ladder. If you come out and volunteer yourself you might know the facts and not false info spread by someone who was never there.

  • Very cool, but these guys should be aware that they should wear gloves for the protection of the fish.

Human body heat is too hot for fish, handling them and allowing that body heat to transfer does damage, and injures the fish. To them it feels like you putting a flame to your hands. Not good!

If you really care about fish health, start wearing cloves that insulate the fish from your body temperature.

  • Where did you hear this? Please provide a published reference for temperature issue. Fish are poikilothermic, thus thier body temperature changes based on water temperature they are in. The water is between 7-15C and our hands are in the cold water this our hands are almost hypothermic, thus there is little or no temp difference. Many species also suffer significant and life threatening damage from glove use such as Atlantic salmon and brook trout (causes fungal infections).

  • Im fifteen and I am a avid angler of the credit and I was wondering if I could help with the spawning of the stealhead in the 2010 2011 season. I Iive in mississauga and I could help juring the march break or weakends I really want to help conserve this rivers healthy fish population for years to come

  • Volunteers must be 16 years old. Sign up to volunteer with CRAA on our website and stay posted for events. Volunteers are welcome. Lift dates and volunteer dates will be posted as they occur in spring and fall.

  • Thanks for the video, but it is disturbing to see some of the individuals in the video holding the fish out of the water for excessive periods for a simple photo op. I fish the river and support conservation activities, but it has been shown through scientific studies that fish out of the water for even 9 seconds can lead to future feeding problems. Please keep this in mind when advising volunteers.

  • We make every effort to keep fish out of water for less than 10 seconds. However several of the fish seen in this video have been anesthetized for added research work. This dramatically extends out of water handling time. The study your refering to also relates to angler caught fish that are exhausted from fighting. These fish are netted directly from the fishway or holding cages and studies indicate out of water handling should be kept to under 30 seconds at a time.

  • You guys are DEFINATELY doing this the right way! :)

  • This is GREAT.......im getting giddy thinking about what 2012, 13,14 will be like..............thanks for all the love and effort, boys!
