You will never have a launch on Verizon that would compare to AT&T, Verizon customers care more about the Network than phones most early adopters and tech geeks go with AT&T or T-Mobile because they always get every phone model 1st before Verizon because they are GSM. That is why you see AT&T and T-Mobile Smartphone rate almost double Verizon's. VZW customers are use to having phones later so they won't jump quick into a new device.
It's not really a failure considering the states had freezing weather and unlike AT&T, Verizon's pre-order process went incredibly smoothly. Besides which, of course the queues weren't going to be as long since all of the die hard queuers are either locked into AT&T contracts or they're waiting now for the iPhone 5.
it will still sell pretty well but more like when people end there contract and are reupping and can get a deal on the phone. iphone isnt a great phone. the ipod is a great media device with a average/subpar phone added on.
They probably saw all the 4G commercials Verizon was showing and didn't want to get a 3G iPhone. Two things. 1. Most people that want one have one 2. Timing is terrible. They shouldn't have released iPhone 4 on Verizon they should have released the new summer one on Verizon. Most people that do what an iPhone are waiting until the summer to get the new model. The only people getting the iPhone 4 at this point are the instant gratification types.
Majority of the people who wanted one pre-ordered it and recieved it via UPS today. If there was no preorder option available, I'd bet the lines would have been much longer.

That's the fail here and if the next model of the iPhone and iPad is not compatible with LTE, HSPA+, 4G, it will be the beginning of the end for Apple's magical iOS devices and I own both.

@emnaq3 I didn't have to "realize" anything. I wanted the iPhone 4, and I'll be happy with it for the next two years. I read for the past month all of the BS articles to "Wait! Don't Buy!"
However, Verizon admitted that the unlimited data plan will not be offered much longer. I'd rather have unlimited data than the minor upgrades iPhone 5 will have. Fact is, this is my first iPhone, and I could give a rats ass about forking out extra money monthly for 4G speeds.

@discountbacon Not only 4G but an 8 or even 10 megapixel camera, a faster processor, i mean these specs except for the camera are the most important in a phone. I do own an IPhone 4 and I plan to keep it until next year unless the design changes but if I was you I would've wait for the iPhone 5. Why? Because in a couple of months the iPhone 4 will look outdated and there's no point to have it anymore. Just take a look at the iPhone 3GS, it looks ugly now but back in 2009 it looked good

@emnaq3 There are many people who have the iPhone 3GS right now and are still satisfied with it. Nobody is denying with you that the iPhone 5 is going to have better features.
However, you still seem to be ignoring the fact that unlimited data will NOT be offered at $30 to iPhone 5 3G/4G users. In fact, unlimited data might not even be offered at any price at all. It's a risk I had to take, and sources are now saying the iPhone 5 might not even be released this summer. So, I'm happy with it.

@rkukentertainment Probably the Apple waiting game. I see people do it all the time with Apple computers. If a refresh of a particular line is expected they wait for the new one to come out. Then complain if it takes longer then expected. New models don't always go by a schedule, they are released when they are ready to go. If you can wait, then wait. If you can't afford to wait...( Broken Phone ) buy it now. One generation behind is not revolutionary. Only slightly better.

@rkukentertainment The article I read said that Verizon may not get the latest Iphone when it comes out later in the year, they would be stuck with the 4 until possibly the year after. But I think thats just rumor and speculation for the most part.

I knew Verizon wasn't that good for people to pay extra cancellation fees. AT&T's service isn't all that bad like people claim. I usually hear people without an actual AT&T account bad mouthing it. It's pretty coool (not perfect) service but it is good service.

umm the rush for the iphone 4 was on June 24 2010. I can't believe people really thought that there was going to be this huge rush to get a verizon iphone. At&t must not be as bad as people say. Since an online poll showed 72.6% of people said they where staying with At&t. Also a iphone 5 is coming in 4 months.

You will never have a launch on Verizon that would compare to AT&T, Verizon customers care more about the Network than phones most early adopters and tech geeks go with AT&T or T-Mobile because they always get every phone model 1st before Verizon because they are GSM. That is why you see AT&T and T-Mobile Smartphone rate almost double Verizon's. VZW customers are use to having phones later so they won't jump quick into a new device.

It's not really a failure considering the states had freezing weather and unlike AT&T, Verizon's pre-order process went incredibly smoothly. Besides which, of course the queues weren't going to be as long since all of the die hard queuers are either locked into AT&T contracts or they're waiting now for the iPhone 5.

it will still sell pretty well but more like when people end there contract and are reupping and can get a deal on the phone. iphone isnt a great phone. the ipod is a great media device with a average/subpar phone added on.

They probably saw all the 4G commercials Verizon was showing and didn't want to get a 3G iPhone. I love Apple products, but they are ridiculously overpriced and I hate the fact they are so secretive as well as the fact that they try to control the devices that you own. (typed on my fairly cheap but insanely fast hackintosh PC)

Based on everything I heard yesterday this is a pretty accurate account of what end on throughout the country. Basically the launch was an embarrassing flop with extra staff twiddling their thumbs as small numbers of people trickled in throughout the day.

I think everyone is stuck in a 2 year conference that's probably why no one is there. Why is everyone so annoyed about this happening? If ask me that question I'd say because I have Verizon and also find the iPhone the best phone out there (for now) so yeah that's why I'm getting one but i'm waiting for iPhone 5 that will hopefully possibly have 4G. It's not a big deal.

It would cost me $650 to upgrade to the iPhone 4 from my Droid. So I have to wait until November of this year to get one. So I'm stuck with my ORIGINAL Droid for another year... :-( 550MHz Sucks, even when overclocked to 800MHz

Two things. 1. Most people that want one have one 2. Timing is terrible. They shouldn't have released iPhone 4 on Verizon they should have released the new summer one on Verizon. Most people that do what an iPhone are waiting until the summer to get the new model. The only people getting the iPhone 4 at this point are the instant gratification types.

This is hilarious although not surprising. Does Verizon really expect long lines for the 3G only model when they're already rolling out LTE? That's the fail here and if the next model of the iPhone and iPad is not compatible with LTE, HSPA+, 4G, it will be the beginning of the end for Apple's magical iOS devices and I own both.
