  • This IS the most rockin' band EVER! They don't write 'em like this anymore!

  • You can't get such heavy live rock at that sound volume any longer, because of the authorities restrictions. Ok, maybe AC/DC can make your trouser flutter slightly nowadays. Good old days.

  • can anyone tell me where this clip is off from? looks like a documentary

  • Ok. They need to find more footage from this show. Simply amazing!!!

  • Isle of Wight show 1970 was awesome

  • Holy shit Roger's so fuckin, fuckably gorgeous & huggable!!!!

  • Woah.....there is not much footage from the 71-73 era. It's a tragedy. Thanks for posting.

  • I can see here why Pete, on the Who's Missing album, said that the Who were at their peak in 1972. Killer snare roll at 0:42. I didn't think Moon could have played better than in 1970-71, but here seems to have a more mature, controlled, muscle-y quality. Somebody please upload this whole bit. Of all the Who footage out there, I don't think I've seen better. Brilliant!

  • check out the clips from the '75 tour. Moonie's last full tour with them. it's shit hot like this one. Promise.

  • Have seen, thanks. Terrific to have "Who by Numbers" footage. Just seems to me that in those 1975 gigs Keith started looking stiff and slower, not alternating ride cymbals, etc. That Charlton 1974 gig seems to me to be one of the last Moon-of-old performances. Perhaps I follow the guy to closely. Ha.

  • too closely, that is.

  • Charlton 1974 ???

Worst show from that year and not even close to shows from 1975/1976 shows.

  • @tetratum

This is 3 years prior to By Numbers tour (75-76). 1972 was the European leg of the Who's Next tour. And this is not Charlton 74. Check out what PT is wearing and Rog, too. Moon's set is also the smaller all black Premier drum kit as opposed to the Gold huge set from the Quad tour (73-74)....or the White kit from the by Numbers tour.

  • @MrGb1965

Keith really went down hill right around the who by numbers his prime was Live at Leeds and about 74 ish was his last real monster years

  • hhhmmm. keith was better 1975 /1976 than 1974 to me personally...

  • @tetratum

    You think so?

i guess its cause im comapring him to when he was in Live At Leeds shape

  • @SH3L70N

If one likes something well then you just like it, I think fantastic if you think 1974 was last great year for Moon... I don't but all subjective like everything regards to music, thanks God :-)

For example I think LAL is totally overated Who show, they played much shows...

  • @tetratum

I really like Keiths Drumming at LAL's

i cant think of any better drumming then LAL i might be wrong

  • @SH3L70N

    @tetratum

No such thing as "wrong".. personal taste is always right... :-)

  • @SH3L70N

I think he did a pretty good job at the Monterey pop festival. Best my generation version ever C:

  • The Clips I've seen of Moon in 76 in the US are the best I've Ever seen . He is Out of the world , and so sad that was it on stage for him ...

  • Vart i Sverige spelade dom?

  • Kungliga Tennishallen, Stockholm.

  • Tackar (Thanks)

  • they where so amazing, i was there!

  • no way, you wasn't born...

  • XD, it was worth trying...

  • I was at THAT concer! ;-))

  • Nice :-)

Don't happen to know if th camera operators secretly filmed the concert .. hey, one can dream...;-).

They were actually only "allowed" to film little bit... :-)

  • This was clearly a part of some TV-show, possibly dealing with cultural life or such. The promotors must have allowed the tv-team to get a few shots. Mind you, today they'd wouldn't be allowed to film at all. ... And I still got the ticket from that concert! :-)

  • no way lol

  • oh wow petes using a les paul in 72? i didnt think he started using them regularly until 73

  • I wasn't born at that timeXD

  • FUCKING AWESOME!!! Thanks for posting.

  • Is that Skandinavium?

  • It's Kungliga Tennishallen (The Royal Tennis Court), Stockholm.

  • Great sound at that concert! The Who were in top form.

  • The exact date of this show was August 23, 1972. This would have been on Keith Moon's 26th birthday. It was part of a film called "Roadies". Actually, I believe some of this WGFA clip appeared on the the old show that VH-1 show called "Legends" (when they did one for The Who). Too bad the whole show isn't available. If there is one clip there are generally more. I wonder what the story is with the rest of the film.

  • the roadies clip is a couple mins long with interviews and the band arriving in stockholm. most likely the whole show was filmed. maybe the amazing journey directors had access to it and didn't use it. vh1 probably used a copy of roadies from someones archive. the end of the clip is great but it's missing here.

  • I don't think Amazing Journey directors had access to it (if more of it still even exist). Propably only someone who worked Swedish TV can say if there's more of it.

  • Seems I was wrong, they had some footage...

Checkout whoshaq06 WGFA scream compilation video..

  • JUST when I thought I'd found footage of Who's Next material from when Pete was still playing an SG.. Oh well, still excellent anyway.

  • I'm Going To See Them In Sweden in a month (6/7) !! can't wait

  • Amazing! Does more of this footage exist? What date is it?

  • Ahhh this is from the Roadies doc aint it?

  • He he, I remember this footage surfacing without sound a few years back. People quickly identified it as WGFA. This was, of course, way before YouTube... Thanks!

  • too bad there isn't the Whole vid
