  • I have the most gothic boner right now.

  • o.O this is ok?

  • Very few bands could pull off a song about Pompeii.

  • Great song and good quality

  • Siouxie muito loucaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

essa era e é minha banda preferida.

  • You don't need to put other music artists down to make Siouxsie the best, she just is.

  • Medusa's classic

  • the beat goes great with her voice

  • I'm shocked to see all the Lady Gaga comments.....Lady Gaga was just a drooling, pamper shitting infant when this song came out...so give it a rest OK! This song holds a special part of my childhood because it introduced me to a whole new world of feelings and expression....and it eventually led to me picking up a guitar and making some awful noise of my own!...lol...

  • wow, i can only recall how influential this song was when i was a scum back in the 80s. This song talked about cocaine abuse years before it turned into Crack, or needles. The lyrics stand on their own.

  • This woman has an awesome voice. <3 Siouxsie.

  • lawls, pompeii pwnz0r'D!

  • I can hear the video director now, "Hmm, we have this stock b movie footage that we can throw together on the cheap. Now what else can we add to make it a real video? I know, a crappy skeleton puppet!:D" Luckily, Siouxsie is Siouxsie ... and just freaking awesome & unforgettable.

  • Ok... why is EVERY fucking comment mentioning GaGa if she's hated so fucking much? Seriously? Rock fans hate on Bieber, Rap fans hate on anyone who's current and isn't "street" enough. FUCK the HATE. I LOVE GaGa, I LOVE Siouxsie. I have BOTH on my iPod. Music is supposed to bring people together, not tear them apart. Especially music like both this AND GaGa's. Jesus jumpin' jimminy cricket crack corn christ people... the internet needs to die off already, it's spread so much hate...

    "Believe."

  • @shanomacbry Just ignore it darling. I love all kinds of music. Sadly some people have to categorize everything, and keep it in a tight little box. Just know that not everyone is that way. I like Gaga and I like Siouxsie and I like Black metal.

  • @metalgodess81 Exactly ..... ECLETIC......I.E LIKE ALSORTS

  • @metalgodess81 Thank the Lord, someone with sense on this video. I swear every other video that I go to of a different genre than Lady gaga feels like they have to justify their taste in music by bashing her or some other pop artist. It seems pretty teenagerish to me. Makes me not want to be associated with other fans at the videos.

  • @ashestoyoursoul I've noticed that as well. I think it all boils down to people needing to feel exclusive, or rather, better than others. I agree..... it is quite juvenile. The anonymity of the internet automatically, seems to turn people into douche bags. Meaning they say things on here, that they wouldn't normally say in "real life".

  • @metalgodess81 you said tight little box

  • @thanx01 I did. teehee.

  • brilliant.

  • i love siouxsie

  • Who the f is lady 'gag'a . Is she a cheap whore?

  • This is on H2 Halloween 2 soundtrack

  • No to Gaga, yes to Siouxsie!!!

  • Favourite Siouxsie song. Takes me back, gives me chills. I can even smell the cheap vinyl of my crappy 80's boots, lol.

  • Just get the album "tinderbox." It's fantastic!

  • 25 years ago, the 80s college radio scene called this "modern music." I wondered then what they would call it when in the future when it wasn't "modern" anymore.

  • proper popular music. the whole ensemble is progressive, intelligent yet accessible. plus siouxsie is not a stageschool airhead singing some aged sex offenders' shit lyrics. a real person doing what they wanted to do which seems a little scarce these days. as mentioned previously - i think lady gaga sucks-like one good song??? nothing on satb. too many producers trying to make money on flimsy ideas. too scared to do anything new-wankers. oh and susie's image is much better than contemporaries

  • un sábado VH1

  • Ok, i know what about is that song, but could SHUT THE FUCK UP and listen the song?, it's great and i understood it is about pompeii IN THE FIRST TIME YOU SAID IT.

  • I hate people who don't know what this song is about.

  • such a classic i have to remix this.

  • reminds me of Pompeii

  • @zyciekota Uh, that's because the song is about Pompeii.

  • @WitlessSod Forgive me, i'm young abd still new in Siouxsie and the Banshees music xD

  • @zyciekota That's because the song is ABOUT Pompeii and Herculaneum.

  • Interesting vid.

  • SIOUXSIE TEAM ...... Die Hard New Wave Music .... (Dakota, Malate)

  • acho q algo estava entrando no reto dela kkkkk

  • This video creeps me out, but I heard this song on Sirius Radio this morning and decided I needed to hear it again 20 more times...

  • Creepy but nice

  • omfg!!! Siouxsie was hot and sexy !! i am unlucky to born on the 21 century =[

  • very spectecular song!

  • I have to listen Siouxsie & The Banshees on the first day of fall.

  • Stop complaining and listen. ._. This song is amazing.

  • I keep coming back to watch this video, geat song, haunting lyrics, awesome voice

  • Please, do NOT get me started about Lady Caca! Fever Ray, Goldfrapp, Karen O., Peaches & Beth Ditto are today's cool gals, not Lady Caca.

  • @SkeeterNYC Yes, let's feces it, Lady Caca is shit.

  • @MrTerribleLie that was BAD.

  • @pashedmotatos I know...

  • fuck Lady gaga in the ass! she has got nothing to do with the new wave/post punk scene so fuck off!

  • Does anyone remember seeing a 1996 straight to video movie starring Anthony Michael Hall whcih featured this song and the band performing it...the movie which was incredibly lame was called "Out of Bounds"...

  • la amo... mi amor tan sexy

  • Fulci ?

  • I once ate a Mormon to this song.

  • @Godgillah I'm shocked with this remark... kkkkkkkkk.. but i loved it!!

  • I'm in love

  • WOW! I get goosebumps allover when I hear this song...

  • people tend to forget the meaning of this video... which is cocaine. Your city lies in dust means: Los Angeles. So it was written & souxsie sang it, read the lyrics again

  • @cme98 The meaning of this video is...........The demise and ultimate discovery of the city Pompeii which was destroyed by mount Vesuveus in the year 79A.D. ........when she was younger she visited the site which had a huge impact on her......There you go, two history lessons for you. I encourage you to read up on it, and the orgin of this song in her biography........

  • @MrBepruitt Not trying to say your interpretation's wrong, or to argue w/you or w/cme98, but there's also a strong possibility that the lyric is about more than one thing: that is, that she's using the destruction of Pompeii as a metaphor for the out-of-control drug habit of a friend.

Since the lyrics fit snugly in both interpretations, it feels like more than coincidence - like she chose her words deliberately to convey 2 meanings: so that listeners hear one thing, and friends hear another.

  • @bleuroo Good comment.

  • @bleuroo true, I totally agree with you !!!!

  • gaga is trash!!! siouxsie is real music!!!

  • i love it!!!!!!

  • Burnout FTW

  • @mikey69xD Jobber.

  • possibly the best song by one of our best groups.

  • this song makes me feel ~~~ love <3

  • What the? why are people bashing gaga at this video?

  • the best rock of the 80s

  • This is Goth before it was Goth. :D

  • I am visitor 666,222 here WHOOPPEE! I love this song. :)

  • Lady DUH DUH she's a wanna be Fake.

  • I got to see them live in '87 and it was amazing! Cameo Theater in Miami with Julian Cope and Midnight Oil..what a show! just being there made you Cool!

  • All bow down to the queen!

  • This is THE mother of all Goth-Punk. I love you Sioux!!!

  • trop belle musique et le clip est top

  • Siousxie was one of the Bromley Contingent and a groupie for the sex pistols. What sets her apart is that the content of her music is the message of punk covered in talent and musical aesthetics very much unlike the band she was following.

  • another magical song... thanx God... this music never dies... as long as someone keeps it alive... to all Siouxie fan... a big kiss.. ! :-)

  • @MegaEstelle78 no worries..many of today's youth love the 80's and this music! It will not die..it's too good!

  • Everyone should see the Pompeii exhibition. I like what they did here, really innovative for mid eighties...breaking away from the UK pigeon holers...

  • @leesaulsify

Fail troll is fail.Get a life, trolling on the internet just shows how lame and how shitty and uneventful your life really is.

  • @leesaulsify hahaha i rather be drunk singing this than that stupid penis having "lady" that only freaks like cause they can relate

  • @leesaulsify I sincerely hope you suffer and die.

  • @leesaulsify OMFG obviously you have got NO taste in music whatsoever. How can you even call SHITTY gaga music? She has'nt got any talent ehatsoever and she gets her wardrobe from the local butchers. I seriously think you should go and speak to your doctor or a therapist or even a phsychiatrist. In other words you're sick and NEED some help VERY QUICKLY. Get Well Soon.

  • @leesaulsify There would BE NO Gaga if it weren't for pioneers like Siouxsie Sioux, Nina Hagen, and others. Move along...you're much too contemporary and TASTELESS for this. You'll never get it, and WE DON'T WANT YOU TO.

  • @mewdeeone yes there would but they would still suck!

  • @mewdeeone lady fucknut has a big fucknut following

  • @mewdeeone I whole heartedly agree!!!

  • @mewdeeone :) I like both but would never compare Gaga to the likes of Siouxsie.

  • That's because there is simply NO comparison!

  • @mewdeeone i doubt people like (her name is not allowed here) listen to music like this. if they did we would have much better music nowdays.

  • @mewdeeone Can you imagine Lady Gaga writing a song like this?

  • @mewdeeone how could they they werent there they cant possibly understand

  • @mewdeeone

They aren't pioneers if no one's been able to follow their path and surpass what they did.

  • @mewdeeone I don't think Lady Gaga was influenced by Siouxsie and the Banshees.

    Just my guess.

  • @mewdeeone For sure...Gaga would be nowhere today if it wasn't for artists like Siouxsie Sioux ♥♥

  • @leesaulsify Lady Gaga can go eat her own left nut.

  • @leesaulsify Fail troll is fail.

At least I hope you're a troll, otherwise your comment is just depressing.

  • i love this song and this band. what i wish to know is what happened to the talent these bands had. it got lost someware in music limbo.few bands now a days have the talent to do songs so full of meaning and originality.i know a beautiful women in buffalo ny that has the talent. check out wings of lillyanna echo. now she has talent like this.

  • @ozzyslasher1970 Songs and bands like this are too "risky" for record labels to support and promote. The profit motive is the enemy of the arts.

  • This song kicks massive amounts of ass

  • dont ever mention lady gaga in a punk or goth bands video...

  • @ryangothy1 AMEN BROTHER

  • @ryangothy1 Don't try and define punk. Putting a label on punk is contradictory to what it is all about.

  • @ryangothy1 wow,way to mention them fag.

  • Comment removed

  • @ryanheshian

    that would be so cool.

  • Excellent !!!!

  • lady gaga copy her

  • @ioannisdelta No, Siouxsie INSPIRED her.

  • NIIIce

  • still brilliant

  • i dont care what this song is about, i would still love to nail her!

  • @evanbellen I think your awesome!!! I watched your Pompeu Bellusci @ Westfield Garden State Plaza video I enjoyed the view and the "silence" you provided Italiano??? Thanks for reply.

  • She is absolutely awsome, I heard this in 1985 and I was 18yrs old and a black female with a blue mohawk (u.k.blak @ that time)She was one of the headliners in the first lalapalooza. But dont u love the creatures Fury Eyes(she and Budgie)

  • @MsDizzledazzle girl, seems you looked awesome in 85

  • What a Goddess.And an excellent song.

  • When I first heard this song in 1985, I had thought it was about the aftermath of nuclear war, and how great cities of the world would lie in dust, under a cold, dark sky.

  • Génial ! Grand merci pour ce merveilleux souvenir.

  • @nivax59 Wow baby

  • That is one smokin' groove !!

  • Wow, lyrics are mazing! I had no clue it was about Vesuvius.

  • @rascic

Neither had I... all the times I've listened to this song and watched this video... not sure what I thought it was about.

  • so good :p

  • One of my all time favorite band. This song literally changed my life back in the mythical 80's. Siouxsie, The Cure, Bauhaus.

  • i always thought this song was about coke....guess not

  • Reminds me of Grace Slick in looks & Patti Smith in vocals!!!!!!!!!! She rocks!!!!!!!!

  • this track is so good it hurts. there just is no comparison for siouxsie's voice.

  • Great sound for you tube thoug there are level variations !. No doubt it's one of their best songs.

  • Great sound for you tube !. No doubt it's one of their best songs.

  • great song, great band. New wave is still best.

  • class new wave..fantastic band

  • Does earth need protection from humans? or do we humans need protection from earth? Oh.. I dunno........ just ask the people who died at Pompeii, or Sendai Japan.

  • the best music of the 80´s!

  • At the time you hear the drums intro, think about "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

  • I'm 18 and I didn't recognize anything about this music until I listened to it, then immediately remembered a bunch of memories from when I was little because my parents listened to it.

  • @monkeyboylx92 Your folks must have been cool as fuck back in the day. My parents listened to Lynyrd Skynyrd LOL

  • 1:21 AVATAR!!!

  • 45 losers

  • Video inspired by Kenneth Anger of course

  • Japan's new theme song, it just replaced BOC's Godzilla.

  • What precisely is a bag of hell? And how one eat one?

Awesome music - long the song

  • 45 people have their cities in dust.

  • burnout paradise,,!!!!!

  • Water was running, children were running

You were running out of time

Under the mountain, a golden fountain

Were you praying at the Lares shrine? >3

  • I loved this when WXRT used it for their commercials with the lemmings.

  • @homelesshannah50 That was CLASSIC! lol

  • Lollapallooza....her entire set made me cry...or maybe it was the substances I had imbibed...either way..she is so beautiful to me!!

  • @CubsfanGSO I know, she turns me on too, although I don't know what she looks like now, I'm close to her age so probably still hot to me!

  • tema basico para todo 80tero.

    Saludos paganos.

  • The video for this just makes this song. Pure brilliance.

  • 4 people on this comment page need to stop worrying about what other people don't like.

  • 45 people don't know where music originated

  • Adore you!

  • 45 ppl live in the cities of dust

  • @TheDisharmony yes I included.

  • My Favorite

  • Must be the only song inspired by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79 that buried the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum. And the only song to mention 'praying at the Lares' (household gods) shrine'. Respect to a brilliant and clever band.

  • @Leonapedia Yes, good to see that someone saw the Pompeii allusion. Those are the plaster casts of the cavities in the mud and ash made by human bodies, now decomposed:"We found you hiding/We found you lying,/Choking on the dirt and sand."

  • @Leonapedia It's very rare for a rock band to deal with ancient history. I like Siouxsie even more for that. It's tiring to hear only about alcoohol, babes and clubbing.

  • @Leonapedia

what about Pink Floyd's Live in Pompeii?
