I'm an ELO fan by nature, been that way since 1979. This cover of 10538 Overture, written by Jeff Lynne, is a very good cover from Def Leppard. Joe Elliot's vocals are wonderful; of course I'm assuming it's Joe Elliot singing the lead. Either way, good job boys from England! Fantastic job from ELO to Def Leppard! Faithful as ever with everything about the Song! Love it!!!!
Def Leppard could have gone in the same direction as ELO or as a classic rock band, instead of being stuck in the category as "hair band" or headbangers. great cover!
Like Jeff,The Leps are huge fans of The Beatles,so anything that's Beatles-Related was adored by them (Like Badfinger's "No Matter What")..A wonderful tune!
They really did a Excellent job covering this, The YEAH Album has quite a few really stellar covers, They do an excellent Space Oddity and some Sweet.
a wonderful tribute to a great band amazing cover not as good as the original of course but you could tell they really liked the original and didnt just think we could do better than that
The parts of the song they did, they did pretty good, but the last 2-3 minutes of wild music is my favorite part of the song. 3 out of 5 stars I guess.
they are so cool, and considering this is fairly recent, i think Joe still sounds really good for his age. Does anyone else think he doesn't look nearly as untrustworthy now? ;) Def Leppard rox!!

Even though ELO's was the original, i think i like this version better. there are no off-key violins, but don't get me wrong. ELO's was the original and still VERY good for the time. :)
@wcllana I wasn't insulting him or anything, don't get me wrong. I just think the real early ELO had a rather thick, slightly discordant sound (certain songs always remind me of the Jaws music). They are my absolute favorite band. I've seen the '78 Wembly version of "Roll Over Beethoven", and I know how good Kaminski is. :-)
I think Cheap Trick cover of California Man was also great. But still Cheap Trick made also a cover of Down on the Bay I´d like to hear. It would be nice to hear. It is only as a live version.
You did a good job compiling all these various pictures. It looks like you did it with the Windows Movie Maker- if you did, maybe you can help me: How did you get the slide show effect (when the pictures slowly move like that)?
Mmmm when you listen to ELO's version some people forget how good it was for a 1971 song brilliant ,with the lack of technology, just raw rock ,hi respect to def leppard for this classic cover
This is worthy of the original, it is different but it is still good - unlike most chart music that pollutes the air on radio, atleast Def Leppard honors this song instead of stealing varous parts off other songs like what these rappers and dance artists do
eh ELO did a much better job with this song. i love def leppard, but this sounds really overproduced and it dosent have the same charm as when ELO did it.
I would have never guessed that the Leps would do this!

Well, glad to see they've got enough class to recognize a good song when they hear it (I'm an ELO nut).
Is that Joe Elliott singing? Doesn't sound rough enough to be his voice.

Playing it close to the original is out of respect to Jeff and Roy and the boys. Def Leppard are pros and real musicians. An homage

ELO's first hit, 1971. Who would have ever dreamed that it would be covered 37 years later by Def Leppard?! Truth is stranger than fiction.
