  • When I grow up I either want to be in ii squadron RAF regt, Coldstream or tank Regt. Respect 4 these guys

  • And the police are driving a BMW not a Jaguar.

    LOL

  • @squizzoo Well, if you drive a Jaguar it's american anyway so it doesn't make a huge difference.

  • @michdudeada Jaguar is British, owned by an Indian company. Nothing to do with america, thank god, since americans can't build cars.

  • @asdasdasdfdfd333 Ahh, I thought they were still still owned by ford. Ah well, my mistake.

  • The Coldstream Guard is whats left of Oliver (Fucking Twat) Cromwell's New Model Army

  • @TheSirRoberto The Blues and Royals of the Household Cavalry were part of the New Model Army too

  • @ImActuallyBatman I am sorry Sir, but the Household Cavalry (The Life Guards) were actually formed by King Charles as his Personal bodyguard when he escaped to Holland. I hope this helps future troubles, Cpt. Harrison.

  • @BritainF0rever I'm joining the Life Guards, they were formed by King Charles II when he was in exile in Holland after he was defeated at The Battle of Rochester in 1651 from a group of about 80 Royalists. The Blues and Royals were originally formed under Oliver Cromwell opposing the King but when he returned to the throne he replaced their Parliamentarian officers with Royalists and formed them along side the Life Guards as The Royal Horse Guards, later becoming the Blues and Royals in 1969.

  • @pauldamatta

Umm... what's a 'Buckingham Guards Special Formation'?????

This is the Band of the Coldstream Guards, they are wearing Greatcoats and Bearskins.... all Foot Guards Regiments wear this in the Winter Months.

  • Why do you think this is 'Buckingham Guards Special Formation' ?, are you an american ????

  • Foot guards can't fault em pride of household division

  • I like the way pauldamtta tires to put nickie in the shot but is more interested in the Guards!...nice one mate your a real bloke!...lol

  • are the red ones the same as this guards?

  • @MrSpideradam They're the same guards just wearing the coats.

  • @PcGamerPaul cheers mate

  • @MrSpideradam

Yeah mate they are the same, in the summer months they wear scarlet tunics and in the winter months they wear Blue Athol Greatcoats.

  • @NicholasBerry666 oh really? thank you for that info i never knew that :)

  • Proud to be part of the commonwealth

  • the police probably love it or hate it cus its kind alike a day off lol

  • Wonder why there was a bmw?

  • pretty sharp

  • i thought they wore red.

  • @TheManics4 They do. Those are jsut their overcoats that they wear in the winter.

  • @TheManics4 they do wear red

  • @TheManics4 they wear this coats in the winter

  • I want the yellow suit.

  • I thought it sounded like yankee doodle for a moment, King George The 3 would have turned in his grave.

  • 1 or 2 midgets in that gang

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome ! But why sometimes they're dressed in red , sometimes in gray ?

  • @DuckCartoon In the summer months the guards are in scarlet, then they change in Athol Blue greatcoats for the winter months. They wear white gloves in the winter months, hopes this answers your question. Summer lasts from Easter until October.

  • @guardjudy

Thank You, for the little info. Very well explained ;-)

  • No bayonets...the scabbard is there, but apparently even the Buckingham guards are not to be trusted with sharp implements. Sad.

  • @desertrat0512 - another clown who has never been in the Services. The bayonets are fixed.

  • @fkarno1 - Really? Never been in the services? I've got 30 years...how about you? Three combat tours...you?

Here's an alternative to you being a ****hole: I didn't see the fixed bayonets, and I did try to cancel my comment when I did.

  • I missed them, but they are fixed. I didn't think this comment posted, and I would have deleted it it I'd known before "Mr.-been-there-done-that" commented.

Amending my comment: Well at least the Buckingham Guards are trusted with sharp implements...unlike the average British citizen.

  • @desertrat0512 You silly billy, of course they are trusted, Ever guardsman has a rifle, a bayonet, and access to plenty of a bullets should the Royal Family should be under threat. These are combat soldiers, who have to listen to drivel and not respond to silly billies.

  • excellent march what is it called?

  • Schöner kleiner Aufmarsch, die Soundaufnahme ist auch super, aber teilweise ist die Kameraführung grauenhafft. Insgesammt eine nette Aufnahme, zu welchem Anlass was das denn?.

  • They remind me of the wicked witch's guards on Wizard of Oz.

  • Why do you think this is a 'special formation ' ??? This is standard marching

  • i bet the tailban would shit themselves if they saw this lot coming over the hilling playing danny boy

  • @MrBullhounds Dear Bull hounds I don't think coming over a hill playing Danny Boy plays a large part in the strategy of Britain's elite forces.Perhaps I should explain. The soldiers in this video are on ceremonial duty.Wearing ceremonial uniforms And carrying out a ceremonial function. If they were fighting the Taliban, they wouldn't actually dress like that, or march in step to a band. Did you think they did? Amusing. Strange as it may seem, they would actually be dressed in combat uniorms. .

  • @harpharpharpharp its mr bullhounds to you

  • hehe, you can imagine the commander saying "fuck that, we ain't stopping for no traffic lights...

  • @Helmut. You tell by the Bearskins. Grenadiers, white plume on left, Coldstream red plume on right, Scots Guards no plume, Irish torquoise plume on right, Welsh white/green/white plume on left.

  • @ScotInYourTV

    ah right thanks!

  • The guards have 5 regiments? How do you tell the difference? Also, what is this celebration for? I see it says Ghana's Golden Jubilee, but what is it?

  • @mcmurdy1980

When they're in their standard red tunic then you can tell the difference between regiments by the spacing and grouping of the tunic buttons, but I don't know how they do it with greatcoats

  • Hello Gramson28 I was in the Second Battalion Scots Guards, sir and i have to tell you no red tunic would be worn underneath just a white cortton/Linen shirt. To wear that tunic as well would mean that you could not swing your arms plus your belt would not fit :) Greatcoat for winter Tunic for summer.... :) all the very best ...ex guardsman

  • @adserg Good evening, I am a Captain, 5th Batallion, Royal Grenadier Guards, and I agree, I have tried to wear both the Greatcoat and tunic, I tell you it is bloomin' hard to perform drill required of a Guardsman Officer. Anyhow, mr ex--guardsman, I hope you found the Armed forces plesant, I wish you many happy years. Captain. Roger Harrison, 5th Batallion, Royal Grenadier Guards.

  • @BritainF0rever In behalf of the United States: It is an honor to greet you. Your Country has much to be proud of. You, being a Captain and living in England must be an amazing life changing experience.

    Best regards

  • 1 CG for ever...

  • Where can I get one of those HATS?!?! I need one?!?!

  • sweet drum major uniform!!!

  • i dont understand the puffy hat thing. where does that come from

  • theres a few different stories to where the buzzbee came from. the most logical one is that they were from napoleons old guard after the battle of waterloo, britsh soldiers picked them up and rememberd the guard for theyre bravery but it could also be the modern version of a bearskin grenadier cap, im not exactly sure where it came from but ive heard the 2 seperate stories about their origin

  • @slats1212 its just a ceremonial thing, they are made out of Canadian black bear fur

  • @Eisenheim1234 Well then I'll just have to find me a Canadian black bear and borrow it's fur.

  • Now that's what I call a good uniform, most others of the British army are not awe-inspiring or powerful looking at all, but these are.

  • @88emu This is a winter Greatcoat. They would be wearing the scarlet tunic underneath that.

  • They are the Coldstream Guards, not the Grenadier Guards. Of the senior Regiments, the Grenadier Guards have a white plume in the bearskin, the Coldstream Guards have a red plume and the Scots Guards have no plume. It has everything to do with their formation in battle...

  • Logistics are always the main target for the taliban and insurgents its called attacking the snakes body instead of fighting with it's head.

  • never mind the bickering the drum major can't march a damn. why when the rest are marching proud he seems to think he can swing his arms as if out on a sunday stroll

  • Probably because it the Corps of Drums playing and he is the Drum Major and is enjoying himself just ploding along!

  • @ TheOldRules Not True females, go on foot patrols in Afghanistan, as Combat Medics with the infantry, also at times female dog handlers will be at the front of a Foot patrol checking for IEDs

    Uk, has female combat pilots,

and at times these Combat Medics are T Army

that is civilians who volunteer to do this service

UK Combat Medics are Firstly soldiers and carry weapons.

Oh the greatest number of soldiers that hold UK highest award for Valour the VC is held by

    Medics

  • sure tell your self that.

in real war(with another country) we are not allowed to shoot at medics. us infantry guys on the other hand our whole purpose is to shoot to kill. so medics dont have the highest VC dumbass its the infantry and its pretty obvious why too.

  • such animosity !! tut tut lads. your letting your side down with the bickering.

  • double V.C. holder in WW1 a doctor CHEVES if spelling wrong but medics do get their share

  • totally agree but lets compare them to infantrymen. the other guy was arguing how medics see more combat than infanteers.

    which is pure nonsense.

  • GOD SAVE THE QUEEN !!.

  • こんにちは近衛兵の希望からのイギリスからイギリスを楽しむ

  • COOL !!

I cant wait to go to UK next year !!

i want to see the guard !

  • Thank you for posting this, beautiful job, wonderful marching and music, LOVE IT!!

  • one of the female soldiers is pregnant. She is in the first group after the band... good vid

  • It's a male.

    There are no female guards.

  • and yes there are they cant not let them in or its decrimination (we dont live in the past)

  • Women are excluded from certain parts of the Army, including Guards.

This may seem as 'living in the past' but it is a fact.

You can check on the Army's website, and it states under the job description wheather or not they accept male/females' and only a small proportion accepts both genders.

  • @AcAinslie Fems can join the Guards band, this might explain why a female was seen, however females are not allowed in the regular guards as they are an active infantry unit.

  • got that thank you..

  • No i think hes right

  • @DRpokeme Females cannot be in any unit that is utilised for frontline combat. Whether or not they could do the job or not is irrelevent, they are not allowed. A female Welsh guard would find herself molested by the butty boys, and she would have to learn to fight in the NAAFI with the little iron men (psychos who are too short for public duties and sent to 3 CoY).

  • In reality every unit in the British army sees front line combat. Thats why engeneers and other support units get killed on patrol.

Every soilder in the British army is trained as an infantary soilder before as well as their units job (engineering or logistics etc)

Its only the feild army where women cannot join because its the feild army which holds the armys tradition and battle hounours and overall tougher..therefore women would not survive

  • Only Infantry, Guards, Paras, Marines and Raf Regt do not accept women and its nothing to do with tradition. The effect it has on a unit when they lose someone would be increased tenfold if it was a woman. A woman would have a distracting effect on a unit and i dont mean sexually i mean in all ways. Its human nature for a man to look after a woman! All army units do train as soldiers first, but only enough to point and shoot if they have to. Logistics people are clerks, not fighters.

  • Well Logistic soilders almost allways find them self on patrol no matter what the operation. There is only so much Logistical work you can do!

I've been in combat with various units of the British Army and RMCs and all can do more than just point a gun and shoot.

Even your TAs are highly capable troops, you should be proud.

However its the feild army (infantry, armour, artillary etc etc) which dont accept women.

  • Another great nation build by the British

  • @flosssock as a general rule the nations that emerged from former British colonies are more stable then former French or Spanish colonies.

  • Who came up with the silly looking uniforms of those worn by USA ceremonial guards. Those red and white lego looking things.

Those reminders of toy soldiers that kids dislike.

    Those funny gloves.

  • Coldstream guards all the way!

Band, Corps of Drums and the Guards following.

  • what type of guard is that inthe front?

  • bandmaster traditional uniform

  • Actually he is a Drum Major. The bands of the Household Division don't have Bandmasters, they have Directors of Music, who are all commissioned officers.

  • The one in the gold uniform and jockey hat is a Drum Major in state uniform, during normal parades he wears a bearskin and same uniform as everybody else. The state uniform is only worn when a member of the royal family is present..

  • Gotta love the guards 110 to the minute

  • Does anyone know the name of the tune that the band is playing? Thanks

  • First march? Its called "Guards Armond Division" composed by Major Willcox

  • The Corps of Drums are playing "Nethwold Bells".

  • keep up the good work boys, sikhs proud of british army..

  • Impressive!

  • going to war??? lol

  • In Iraq. This is a Special Forces )

  • I wouldn't call WWI or WWII a feud. 20 million dead is no where near a fucking feud.

  • Well they could have killed a few hundred million if they wanted to you know

  • Although I do see what rscott means, I don't think the war was family-oriented. There's other causes of ww1 to consider, for example Prussian militarism which dated back to the Seven Years' war and later the wars under Bismark. The German impetus for WW2 stemmed from a desire to restore those ideals which they felt had been trampled on in the aftermath of WW1, that's how the two wars are related; but if the first world war had anything to do with bloodlines, the second world war clearly didn't

  • Actually my friend WW2 was about hitlers regime but there ya go bit of correction for you, invaded Poland before we got on to the job before the Americans and united forces with them.

They think it was just them that won, but let me remind you it was the Grenadiers who battled against the french imperial guard that gives them their name going back 350+ years that now they are callled the Grenadiers.

At the battle of waterloo against Napoleon (excuse spelling).

  • That's where they got the bearskins too..."La Garde recule!"

  • Ah yes I forgot about that! Thanks for that comment.

  • Hey...I thought they got their name in 1815 at Waterloo defeating the French Grenadiers?? LOL. Before that they were the "First guards of foot",etc.

  • What was that pretty face that floated into the scene there ;) Hehe. Oh yeah... nice march. Thanks for the post :)

  • whats the betting that vicki was dragged along by our cameraman and doesnt really waat to be there other than to ogle fit soldiers in uniform.

  • What is the name of the march they are just finishing?

  • Immaculate stuff from the boys, not one foot out of place.

  • Sewov, the Bearskin caps were bequeathed upon the 5 Guards regiments, when the Grenadier Guards defeated napoleans imperial guard, and so they wore the defeated enemy's headress in honour....they are not just for tourists, and nor is any other aspect of this ceremony.

  • but Ghana doesn't have a queen, it's a republic!

  • well Nicki, consider yourself VERY LUCKY. But I would have been facing THEM so not to miss a thing. Nothing like a hunk in a uniform

  • those funny hats lol, what are they really for? o0

  • what were they marching for??

  • partybiscuit// GB is in that oil business too lets not forget that.

  • it was only luck !!1!!1!oneoneone

  • There is luck in everything. But I guess you would have surrendered long before you strike luck. That is the difference.

  • Why can't you just face the fact that your leader who unified Germany once again was a real shitty military tactician. Yes Germany could have defeated Britain, but no it didn't. Your leader was one of the worst military tacticians in history, resulting in the defeat of the most powerful military in the world at the time. Germany could have trampled Europe, just not all at once. That is why they lost WW1, Germany SUCKS at multi-front wars.

  • each land would fail on multi-front wars, and each land failed on russia. but there are more reasons why germany lost both wars. for WW2, are it hitler, reader, italy and japan.

  • Isn't a multi-front war kind of a necessity, though, when you're surrounded on all sides? Let's face it, Germany is in a shitty geographic position for agressive expansion.

  • Yeah can't deny that. It was really the only reason Germany invaded its neighbors, all the other territory (colonial) was taken =/

  • To quote the Landlord,

"GREAT BRITAIN! Now, the Americans call it the American Dream. Now, why don't we British have a British Dream, like the Yanks? I'll tell you why. We British do not have a British Dream, because we British are AWAKE!"

  • lmao that was gr8 from al murray.

  • Thanks, I forgot his name!

  • @kakalunga Are you kidding? The UK is in horrible shape!

  • @kakalunga you should get that copyrighted! lol

  • Lets not get too deep eh? Great clip of the guards doing their bit. Impressive. Did you notice the security in the quick response BMW trailing them? Probably an SAS team looking out for potential nutters with bad intentions. Even the guards have body guards.

  • Lets face it though, you would have to be a complete head case to start on that lot.

  • Forget SAS security, you'd have to be a complete nutter with no regard for your own life to go up against a Guardsmen with a fixed bayonet. In Canada as far as I'm aware the Governor Generals Foot Guards who do similar duties in the nations capitol have 10 rounds of live ammo in their mags.

Don't quote me on that, but I do remember reading it.

  • I agree. And I'm from Texas of all places. Believe me, there's plenty of space here to look at the world objectively...and what you've described is the way it is. Wasn't it Nietzsche that said that all professions are conspiracies against the laity?

  • A bit like Bush and his oil business.

  • MMM maybe a case of him protesting a little too much. MellowMustang - is that the closet door I hear creaking?

  • Besides you are american. You wouldn't know about what the world thinks.

  • Is there an idiot filter on Youtube?

I don't have a lot of patience with uneducated people who know nothing about history.

  • just closing there order to the left and then opening it ther right.

  • that aint no special formation

    its a standad marching formation

  • I don't remember seeing all the units marching together like that.

    Looks pretty special to me.

  • there marchin in colomn

all regemens of the british army do it

mass band, a company, standard or guidions, another coy.

  • Ha, ha - that was so funny. Not.

  • seems to have made you stand to attention though.....

  • That was you?, let's get married.

  • is there a name of the last music?

  • Or the piece they just finish at the beginning?
