  • "All I'm sayin', is he ticked him off, and he got it the next game" TRUTH

  • All you people that dislike what Don Cherry has to say must think that hockey is really played on Wheels outside in sunny Florida or California. Don Cherry speaks the truth!

  • ANd we see that fucking idiot basically saying Chara's cheap shot ws okay. Someone take this blight on hockey off the air.

  • Still a fucking idiot. Philosophically Don Cherry is a total dunderhead. I hope parents all over Canada and Europe are dissuading their children from the sport because of this guy.

  • I think Grapes is being generous considering Chara broke Camillieri's neck....

  • Too much incoherent rambling.

  • Don Cherry looks like a ventriloquist dummy and Ron Maclean is the master LOL, just cause you don't see Maclean's left arm cause it's always behind Cherry... and Cherry just looks like a puppet with how he sits and moves.

  • Any one who cusses this man is a fucking idiot seriously are you that dumb he speaks his mind if you agree or do t that's your fault don IS HOCKEY broadcasting!!!!!! Your either European French Canadian or American if you don't like him . don is the man

  • @L337karma Im american an i love don cherry, he is old time hockey 100%

  • Don Cherry is a buffoon, largely intentionally so for entertainment purposes, and has, by far, done more to harm the game of hockey than anyone ever has. It is a tragedy that CIBC has given him a voice, and a greater tragedy that anyone takes him seriously.

  • The fact that some people respect him is quite saddening. Please get a better role model kids

  • nice

  • If anything, what he said about Stevens being an admirable player was far more problematic than what he said about the critics of fighting. Where's the controversy? Those guys are hypocrites and they are a bunch of pukes.

  • Why would I want to enjoy watching a player like Stevens pummel someone's face into the ice? He deserved more suspensions than I can bother to count and I certainly don't miss him.

  • NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! Chara deserves everything that comes to him whenever he's in Montreal. FUCK CHARA!!!!!!!!!

  • Its hard to believe I have to explain my thinking when it is as plan as the nose on your face. About the Stanley cup, when the referees allow one team to get away with anything, like injuring a player and not get a penalty or get suspended, this is just one example, I hope I don't have to give you anymore, did you not see the games? Or were you watching w/ rose coloured glasses ? The point is the other team Vancouver losses all confidence and they shut down. Yes Llungo didn't look good.

  • THIS is Boarding???? HE HITS HIS OWN HEAD!! Welcome to the New NHL! (Thanks a lot Bettman)

  • LISTEN, Hockey is a fast game. And fighting needs to be in the game. the reason is simple. If there isn't an enforcer out there then guys will continue to take cheap shots. And what will happen to the game if big time superstars continue to get hurt. These guys get paid millions and millions, Its all part of the game.

  • @TheKronix421 exaclty bud, either take away the insigator peanalty or the headshots are going to continue, I mean, do you really think a little snake like sean avery is going to cheapshot a teams star if he knows hes goin to get his shit beat? of course he wouldnt, problem solved

  • @leadbang no,apologizing like he did ..after he thought he was gonna get sued, that my friend is pussified. He coward into a corner went into a fetal position and took it in the ass.Next time don't say stupid shit or say it and stick to your guns.

  • what a clown

  • who's the pussy now??? Don Cherry had to bend over and apologize ....PUSSIFIED

  • @thetruth377 Yep cuz apologizing is for pussies.

  • If they want to hit and fight, there is a new street to go down! Go fight in MMA! I want to see hockey, pure skill and cooperation.

  • @scradleeee lol so you dont want to see hockey, fighting is apart of the game, if you dont wanna see it, you dont wanna see the game

  • @zazszdzfzgzhzjzkzlzx Goons just kill the game. Seriously if they think they are tough go fight in the octagon.

  • @scradleeee are you serious? sounds to me like you just want hockey to be more like soccer, maybe you should checkout other sports, becuase it definatley doesnt seem like hockey is for you....

  • Please kick Don Cherry off of television. He's starting to lose his grip.

  • Also, this video is kind of popular haha

  • Cherry is wrong. You won't continue to see this. The players just have to get use to the new rules and the new game. Player safety is more important. Once the players get use to the new style, you'll see the hitting pick up (Even though I think it's fine right now. Still a lot of hits in the game).. I watched the Lightning/Caps game this week and there was a crazy amount of hitting. With no illegal hits, no injuries. NHL isn't getting rid if hitting, that's what the NFL is doing.

  • Don cherry is the best! He knows fucking everything about the game and is so wise and smart about the game. The players in the NHL are turning to pussies and don cherry is smart enough to stand up against it.

  • Don's looking for ratings. So the CBC doesn't give him a boot up the ass.

  • Don is as real as it gets

  • criticize all you want but don cherry knows his stuff people hate cause he is brutally honest but i respect him cause he calls it as it is

  • @triplethelength In my experience people who "tell it like it is" usually have no idea what they're talking about.

  • @chinary8 LOL

  • steckels hit was completely unintentional thats the only cherry was wrong about here

  • @Bawbster1

1-the guys over two hundred pounds in the 70's were fat - not in shape

2-the hockey was mediocre because they were in such shitty shape

3-hockey in the 70's was complete garbage

  • Wow what idiots they are suing don cherry for saying the truth .. That bugs me so much don cherry knows what he is talking about states the truth and now they are suing him those 3 players ... Grow up

  • If it wasn't fpr Cherry. hockey wouldn't have a voice....hockey is not and should never Ice Capades! Its HOCKEY DAMN IT. I don't always agree with Don, but in the high percentage he's right. The day we have sissy hockey is the day I stop watching and believe me it's right around the corner. GO DON GO...say what you have to say and glad to see someone out there is not afraid to show that Canadians won't be stepped on. I'm a Canadian and F'n bite. Don you have balls, and your a proud Canadian!

  • Cherry is great!

  • NHL = No Hitting League

  • hmmm..i dont see the problem maybe im wrong please view my video

  • Don Cherry is a complete retard.

  • Those new Leaf jerseys sure look sharp!

  • I have seen a games turned around because of a fight. The stars know they will not be bullied because they know someone will protect them. Altho Gordie How didn't need protection. It is time to stand-up for yourself. Hockey makes men out of boys. That is why Canadian are the toughest men on the planet.

  • Don Cherry is the only one with enough balls to come out and say anything about hockey issues. He is the hockey God. No touch icing, padding around the top of the boards, stop wearing steel elbow pads, padding around the glass, isn't anyone listening? How about that Stanley cup what a big joke. I'm glad I didn't spend my time watching much of it. I pee wee and midgets give me a chance. I would firer the Vancouver coach. Best in the league and loss, not enough fight.

  • i remember when my voice cracked... at 11 years old

  • Those 3 goons have absolutely no case against Don Cherry. If they even understood what slander is, they would know that they have no chance of winning. Don Cherry spoke the truth on these 3 hypocrites. They had a career bullying people around and now they want to bully Don Cherry around. They are worthless pukes who were happy to earn millions of dollars being goons but now act like they're holier than thou. It's time for Don Cherry to lay the smackdown on them.

  • @VJWU He also only re-quoted a comment by George Laroque.

  • Don Cherry please do what John Madden did on MNF...retire.

  • I said a lone person who knows nothing about the game said at the beginning of the Stanley cup Vancouver needed to alternate goalies so the pressure was off Llong.

Some of the practices they do for goalies is just plan stupid. Who said hockey player are not stupid? Crosby is a chicken, hes afraid to back on the ice. And who wouldn't be getting hit in the head with a piece of steel. The law needs to step in. Hitting someone with a piece of steel, isn't that against the law?

  • Steven was a heavy hitter no question, they need to hit back. If your head is down you get hit period. There has to be fighting if not the sticks come up and cheap shots more of them of course that is why there is fighting. How about that Stanley cup? The joke continues. The referees can make or break a game and a series. Did they get a little bonus for the last Stanley cup? Don said that loss wasn't Llongos fault, it was the coaches fault for putting him in. He cracks under pressure.

  • Cherry is praising the biggest goon in hockey (Stevens) who pretty much ended the career of Eric Lindros... how do you defend that?

What Don doesnt realize is that getting your bell rung as it was referred to in the old days COULD have severe ramifications and they are now being realized...sure some guys lead a normal life...however some do not.

  • Cherry just confirmed everyone's suspicions.... the Chara hit on "Patch" was premeditated..... go figure

  • I agree with everything here except Scott Stevens, he was a POS.

  • MANDATORY DRUG TESTING(OLYMPIC STYLE).THAT SHIT WOULD GET RID OF ALL THE ROID/COCAINE/EPHEDRA HEADS.LET THEM GO PLAY IN THE KHL

  • Scott Stevens was a piece of shit head hunting goon, there is nothing to be proud there.

  • The reason this happened is because everybody thinks Cherry is the king of hockey and everything he says is right. If McLean wasn't such a bitch he would of interrupted him and done the final remarks. I don't play hockey but you can see from the years that the players have gotten bigger and faster and Cherry doesn't realize that because he doesn't play. But he's right saying that when you hit someone your instinct is to look back and you can see that you've hit his head with your peripheral.

  • So many things to consider when in a position like Shannahan. Cherry is often right on a lot of things & has strong opinions. If the players could govern themselves, there would be less serious injuries in my opinion. Those players that were known for cheap shots or dirty play would be cut so fast because they would have zero respect from other players. Nothing wrong with tough guys or fighters, it's the chicken shit assholes who run around trying to hurt others players that need to go.

    Do

  • And sorry to make 3 comments in a row, but in reality..if you go to hockey fights . com and stats, on average there is less than one fight per game. There are more fights in the pre season than anything, because guys are trying to make teams. Some of you people on here have no knowledge of the game what so ever and make it sound as though guys are dropping the gloves every 5 mins because there bored.

  • @Noles506 Anyway if you agree that strong suspension are needed for hits to the head then we are on the same page.

  • On the other side of the argument , Grimson had a great point. There are like 20 some volumes of Cherry's Rock Em Sock Em hockey, Cherry has made a mint off these guys.

  • I heard it out of the mouth of the man himself today on prime time sports here in Canada. Stu Grimson said and its what I have been saying, fighting is there as a deterrent. If there were no enforcers, it would be open season on the smaller, skilled players. It would take away from the game because the stars people pay to watch would all be injured. Nilan has spoke out on fighting, as has Thompson. Grimson hasn't said a thing.

  • how much fuckiing make up is this guy wearing jesus christ

  • Don Cherry is a boss. He has guts to speak the truth while a bunch of pussies talk shit about him on youtube.

  • @greensky18 On Youtube ?!?! How about all across the country ? After they sue his ass, hopefully he will shut his ignorant mouth and stop talking. What a fucking fool, a shame to us Canadians.

  • only a real man can wear a suit like that.

  • whats rong about this?

  • McLean looks pissed at that senile old man lol

  • when Don Cherry is going on about his rant, Ron McLean looks so pissed and is thinking "what's this idiot even saying?"

  • Don Calls it like it is.

    I agree with him 100%

  • Don Cherry is a complete idiot. This video shows that.

  • Where's the outrage about football? How about boxing where guys take multiple blows to the head? How about the UFC? Leave the game alone, it's fine the way it is.

  • @piercethepaper Your also a nobody!!!

  • blood between players. That is very different that the calculated, orchestrated fights that players embark upon today. They feel like cheap marketing tactics to make a player seem valuable to his team. But it's useless, if the NHL enforces it's rulebook the way it is written, there's no need for "enforcement" outside of the referees. And Shannahan is on his way to laying down that ground work.

  • But that's just it, watermelonpictures, fighting is NOT a part of hockey. That's why the fighters are each given a 5 minute major penalty. In boxing, fighting is allowed, which is why they are awarded points for landing blows to the face and body.

You have to look back and see where and how fighting evolved in the NHL. This league originally had 6 teams and then expanded in to more. With 6 or so teams, you are going to be playing against the same players quite often. That can build some bad

  • Ron Maclean knew there was a shitstorm brewing

look at his face at the end

  • I don't want hockey to change anymore than it already has. It's a physical, contact filled sport, on par with boxing, football, rugby. No one wants to see anyone get hurt, not even the guys throwing the hits or the punches, but it's a part of hockey history.

I'd rather see hockey shut down and close its doors and throw away the stanley cup, than to see it mutate into something that doesn't resememble what men years ago spilled blood, sweat, and tears for. love it or kill it, don't change.

  • $750,000.00 per 10 minutes, per week, per douche rant!! F'n CBC wasting our taxes, (as usual), on Don Cherry's BULL S***!! Speaking of "puke," when they finally get the chance to crack open his own cranium, God only knows what they'll find...It'll look like every suit and high collar he ever wore, puked inside of his skull!! I used to respect Cherry & what he said on Coach's Corner. NOT ANYMORE! However, I still respect the man for all the great things he does outside of the hockey world!

  • That is how Scotty Bowman did when he coached Detroit. That Stanley cup was a BIG FAT JOKE THE WORST HOCKEY I'VE SEEN, pee wee hockey is better.

  • Stevens hit on Kariya was a late hit and he should have been kicked out of the game. If you have your head down your going to get hit ask Orr. Chara is an ass. Cross checking, spearing, and kicking is whats coming up when they stop fighting. The joke continues. When Chara slashed one the twins in front of his net and then punch another in the stomach and gets away with you knew the series was over. You see in the nhl the idea is to knock out a player for life, get a few game suspension,

  • CHerry haters make me sick.

  • Little fireworks to start the year lol

  • DON CHERRY IS A PIECE OF SHIT JUST LIKE STEPHAN HARPER.THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT LIKE THEM ARE THE FARMERS FROM THE PRAIRIES THAT MARRY "IN THE FAMILY".YOU FUCKING FARMERS ARE BACKWARDS AND HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO LIVE IN A CIVILIZED SOCIETY...ON THAT NOTE, HAVE FUN FUCKING YOUR SISTERS AND DAUGHTERS

  • They are not hits to the head, Stevens is bigger then Karilya and his shoulder hit him, This is a very tough sport and you have to be tough to play it or get off the ice.

  • There has to be hitting because thats hockey. There has to be fighting because of the cheap shot artists. If you dong have fighting you'll have kicking, spearing, etc the stick is the most dangerous piece of equipment out there, of course now they have steel elbow pads, the joke continues. Don is the hockey God. How about that Stanley cup, another joke. The worst display of hockey I've seen. They must have paid those refs another $10. to fix the Stanley cup. The joke continues

  • @canadianguy0987 I believe the NHL has done a great job modernizing the game, making hits to the head illegal, cutting down on the clutching and grabbing, changing the size of goalie equipment. The NBA is a whole different game in the sense players are trying to be penalized to get to the foul line. Flopping is more of a problem than anything right now in the NBA game.

  • @oreokid666 Cherry is one of the worst thing that happened to hockey and the fact that he is directly adressing his comment to kids like int this video are even more disturbing... anyway this argument is going nowhere, continue to listen to Cherry kid, he's good for you... you are really the one that has been brainwashed...

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 He is a guy with a what, 10 min weekly segment where he speaks his opinion. He does not officiate, coach..he does not create policies....how is he the worst thing to happen to hockey? I would say the failed expansions in the warmer weather cities of the USA is a bigger failure than anything Don Cherry has ever said.

  • @Noles506 I feel he is a bad thing for hockey because there is so many people listening to him blindly like that oreokid666, and he speaks directly to kids. And when you have someone like that who is watch by so many kids and telling them that hits to head are ok, that it's just finishing your check, it makes me sick. I do believe he should have been fired years ago.

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 When has Don Cherry said "hits to the head are ok". Majority of things he says to kids are safety related.

  • @Noles506 He is showing the hits of Stevens on Lindross and Kariya while saying how much of a good hitter he was and everything. Then he speaks of the Pacioretty saga and telling kids directly that the mistake was the little push. What he should say to kids is that the Chara hit was extremly dangerous and that seeking revenge like that was not a good thing. And there was all that visor saga where he was against it (which was just ridiculous). I think Cherry is telling kids the wrong things.

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 Fine, if you don't like Mr. Cherry skip the intermissions of CBS broadcasts, and go get a snack or something. He's no different then a commentator on CNN or say, Nancy Grace. It's there opinion, opinions don't mean facts. A lot of those hits were very clean. If you play contact hockey you learn at a young age.. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!

  • @Noles506 Of course you learn it, but it will happen that you will have your head down and it does not mean it has to be targeted because of that. Bit clean hit I like though. And I never watch Cherry live, I went to see this one because i saw a Chris Nilan interview and I wanted to see what he was referring too. But otherwise you are right, I do not watch Don Cherry.

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 If you can't keep your head up, then go play another sport. It's no different than in football, they take helmet hits to the head for having there head down.

Where's the outrage about football? How about boxing where guys take multiple blows to the head? How about the UFC? Leave the game alone, it's fine the way it is.

  • @Noles506 Helmet to helmet hits in football are not permitted and if you do it you are suspended. Also I am a big UFC fan, and injuries to the head are more serious in hockey than in MMA. The difference exactly resides in the fact that hockey is a faster sports than the others, and because there is more people in hockey you will not always see the hits coming when in the UFC you are always facing the opponents.

  • @Noles506 I do not understand why people wants hits to the head in hockey, almost everytime it happens the other guy is out for weeks or months like Crosby... you don't have enough with clean hits to the body?

In MMA the guys are face to face and when they throw an elbow it is from a stable position and in the face of the guy, hits behind the head are not allowed because they are too dangerous. In NHL they go at a crazy speed and can hit behind or beside the head where it is the most dangerous

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 I know your trying to make your point, I respect it...but NO ONE WANTS HITS TO THE HEAD IN HOCKEY!!! Why do you keep saying this?

  • @Noles506 Not no one, go read what that guy oreokid666 was telling me and you'll see that he was not against it. Nor his Cherry who disapproves when players are suspended which is the only way to stop it.

  • @oreokid666 Hoooooo you learned 90's hockey by Cherry... I understand now... and I'm the one being brainwashed by other people...

  • @oreokid666 I got 2 concussion myself too... clown... and you are clearly not watching football news because this year there is a BIG debate on headshots and concussion, there is even NFL players that sued the NFL this year because of that. So yes there is a similar debate in football, you're just not following it.

  • @oreokid666 That's it, you're 20 and you say all the hits back then were ok? You clearly never saw a lot of 90's hockey because there was some nasty things going on. It's been a looooong time that there is cheapshot to the head, I'm saying it since a long time and I'm glad some people are waking up, Shanahan as played for a long time and seems to know what to do, he is doing the right thing right now.

  • @oreokid666 Lesson # 4 : Cherry is a redneck with a 50's mentallity, he is stating the same opinion the stock up fans have, a lot of the things he is saying have absolutly no sense... Real fans don't want to see the players get there heads ripped off and then miss a few months of activity and having symptoms that can stay for life. A check should be made to the body, not the head.

Lesson # 5 : Speaking with "lessons" is really ugly and don't make you look more knowledgeable... buddy

  • @oreokid666 Listen here... buddy...

Lesson # 1 : Dont' presume if someone played hockey or not in is life... and I did. Lesson # 2: It's been several years I'm saying that hits to the head should be banned... and by the way when I first saw Stevens hit on Kariya when it happened I found it disgusting, It should have been illegal back then and it should be today. Lesson # 3 Hitting the head should not be called "finishing the hit" it's a cheap shot, hit the body.

  • i noticed when stevens with the stars players nobody on the other team went bonkers and started brawling. seems like these after a good clean hit everyone jumps in. hit a rookie theres 4 guys after you. and there facewashing after every whistle. watch the games back in the day. then you will know what the problem is.

  • @Bawbster1 how many players were over two hundred pounds in the 70's(not fucking many).Guys in that era would smoke cigarettes between periods ,it was a complete joke.

  • @thetruth377 Doesn't change the fact that is was a tougher and dirtier era of Hockey. When was the last time you saw a stick swinging fight? A bench clearing brawl? If you took a run at a star player, the other team got to you, not your teams designated tough guy. You had to pay the piper. BTW - there were many players over 200 lbs in that era.

  • Give the players the excuse to stop hitting and they will stop hitting. Take away the two line pass rule and force in the trapezoid so what did the NHL expect to happen right after, lol. The suits in the front office don't care about the players well being they only care about profits and not the integrity of the game.

  • There is no place in hockey for hypocrites like Don Cherry.Don is the same one who advocates no touch icing because it would limit injuries, but then he turns around and shows superstars having career ending injuries because of hits to the head. That is absurd. I like rough play as much as the rest of hockey fans, but i'm more interested in seeing Sidney Crosby or Ovechkin score a nice goal than watch two thugs have a staged fight. Any true hockey fan watches it for the skill.

  • @habs2012 actually, the only hit in that stevens compilation which ended up in a career ending injury was lindros. And wtf are u talking about. Those players put THEMSELVES in that situation by cutting into center ice with their head down. If you do that ur gonna get wrecked. But now its idiots like you who think that stevens and other big hitters should be responsible for the people getting wrecked being dumb. If u wanna watch hockey with skills and no hitting, go watch the euopean leagues.

  • @Kipperluongo These hits by Stevens are dangerous, he is directly targeting the head. The one on Kariya is particularly awful, the puck is miles away, Kariya is not looking down, he is looking forward were the play is, and Stevens comes and give him an elbow in the face. Stevens was targeting the head like crazy and it sould not be allowed. You are putting your fun watching the game before the health of the players that is what Cherry is doing too. Why should you be ok with hits to the head?

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 You clearly have never played hockey in your life. Fucking lulz.

  • @Stevenio Yes, I did. And as more and more NHL or former NHL players share the same opinion as me I don't know why it would be surprising.

  • @ironmaidenfan6666 Any NHL player would agree that Stevens hits were clean. You stupid fucking heavy metal faggot. You pretend that you played hockey on the internet? Fucking lulz @ your life. Go listen to some shit 80s band you peasant.

  • @Stevenio If you think that any NHLer will tell you that the second hit on Lindross with the elbow straight in the face is clean you are in an other world. Continue to be a tough guy behind your keyboard.

  • @Kipperluongo Like i said, i love big hits. But i don't want the stars of the league not being able to play because of career ending injuries (most often concussions.) BTW Paul Kariya's career was shortened by many years due to concussions. And if you actually enjoy seeing people being knocked out on the ice and clearly injured, then once again you are not a true hockey or sports fan.

  • @habs2012 i don't enjoy watching people getting knocked out or injured. But when you're cutting across the ice with ur head down, prepare to be wrecked. That simple, and kariya's career took a dive because of that dirty fuck gary suter, whom he got viciously cross checked by in the back. And if stars get injured from cutting across the ice with their head down, then no one should feel sorry for them, its their fault.

  • @skronybonnie NO I JUST WANTED TO TYPE WITH CAPS ON. I AM TOUGH. TOUGHER THEN YOU WHEN WE PLAYED HOCKEY HITS AND ELBOWS WERE A DIME A DOZEN AND WE DIDNT CRY ABOUT IT. GO PUT YOUR HELMET ON AND RIDE THE BIKE LANE

    @thebarbarian

  • @MLDxModZ you are the moron that needs to do his home work and you just proved it. The elbow pads i wore and eberyone wore was made from foam! shoulder pads were small caps and nothing else. an elbow or a shoulder to the head. You survived

  • NHL needs to standardize their suspensions. Judgment shouldn't be based solely on the severity of the injury but more so the manner in which the injury was received.

  • Also the nhl alot of the time suspends based on how hurt someone is which in my opinion is wrong.

  • Headshots are a hot button topic in football and in hockey. Do you think the NHL enjoy's having there most marketable player missing half of a season, and the start of the next season? Something has to be done about blatant hits to the head. And, it is a tough call on the legality of each particular hit because of the speed of the game. Don Cherry know's the game but has an over the top way of stating his opinion. Brendan Shannahan has a very difficult job.

  • TOO ROUGH AND DIRTY. THE PROBLEM

IS YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF SOFT CLOSET HOMO'S. WHAT A JOKE! GO WATCH ANOTHER EPISODE OF FRIENDS AND GET BACK IN THE CLOSET.

    @thebarbarian

  • IF THE NHL CARES SO MUCH FOR PLAYER SAFETY. WHY DO THEY NOT PUT RESTRICTIONS ON SHOULDER PADD AND ELBOW PADS? CUZ IF THEY GO BACK TO OLD SCHOOL ELBOW PADS THEN REEBOK CANT CHARGE $175 FOR A PAIR OF ELBOW PADS. EQUIPMENT IS 90% OF THE PROBLEM. IF GUYS LIKE STEVENS, MARCHMENT, CLARK, MCSORLEY WORE EQUIPMENT LIKE TODAYS PLAYERS THEN PLAYERS WOULD HAVE DIED IN THE 90'S.

WE SOLD OUR GAME FOR DOLLARS AND CENTS. ITS A NEW WORLD FULL OF METRO-SEXUAL MEN THAT WATCH JERSEY SHORE AND THINK HOCKEY IS

  • @sonat2008 Using caps lock makes you feel tough doesn't it eh?

  • @sonat2008 Yeah good idea, let's go back to hard plastic elbow pads... You know, the ones that will shatter cheek bones the minute they touch a face.

You're a fucking dumbass. Read up on hockey a little bit more, instead of going of your house league instinct.

  • Canada > USA

  • what a fucking idiot...does this guy actually get paid for the shit that comes out of his mouth? un-fucking real...

  • @Bawbster1 you must be the village clown...you're fucking out of your ming if you think bobby clarke can go toe to toe with Chara or even laraque ,he would fucking curl up into the fetal position and ask for his mom.70's hockey was slow, not technically sound and they checking was compared to hugging compared to the shit that's going on now.Your the was that drowned in your delusion about 70's hockey.Go fuck your sister you old fart farmer

  • @thetruth377 No- never said that... Bobby Clarke would use his stick, if anyone ever took liberties with Clarke, he had an entire team of thugs to deal with the culprit. Sure the players today are bigger & stronger, but the game was played tougher & dirtier in the 70's - but the players respected each other more. Today - the game has a more cowardly tone to it. There's more hitting from behind & blindside type hits today. In the 70's, the players were allowed to police themselves - you jerk off

  • @thetruth377 BTW- when was the last time you saw a stick swinging fight? This happened at least 5-10 times per season in the early 70s. When was the last time you saw a bench clearing brawl? This happened at least once a week in the 70s. In the 70's there wasn't a need for the "staged" fight, the players settled scores right away or in the next game. Back then, players from opposite teams didn't "hang out" with each other after games or in the off season - they hated each other, and it showed

  • Yeah Maybe Don should give up hockey and become PM. Maybe he would be the one to finally really overall immigration in this country. I can tell you one thing, Cherry would deport those that should be deported immediately(the ones who get deportation bail and disappear etc) and certainly would have told Mrs.Khadr to fuck off with her family.

  • don cherry speaks the truth

i love the obvious americans hating on him

  • so just because they used drugs they cant speak out about the dangers? not with don on this one boys.

  • scott stevens ended careers...deal with it bitches

  • HEAD DOWN GET SMASHED THATS HOCKEY DONT WANNA GET HIT PLAY SOCCER

  • You tell em Don lol

  • I like this newer hockey, better.

  • Growing pains my ass.

The NHL is letting the media make up their rules.

  • I never talk about hard hiting dude...i'm talking about the way he uses our money to discriminate other people...that's my point...i love hockey but he uses national tv to talk about how life should be !!!

  • @luckyluc1970 He uses our money?? You are out to lunch. Brutal comments pal. Most people like him which is why he is a household name and why he still has his own show. He doesn't use our money, he uses money from advertisers who love ratings and love him for the intermission ratings he brings in. Pretty simple. How life should be??? He usually talks about hockey not life.

  • @MrMateroftheuniverse

CBC is publicly funded by tax dollars. Sure they get money from advertising aswell, but most of CBCs programs are funded through our tax dollars...

  • @S13v7n If you really think that Hockey Night in Canada needs any subsidy funds you wrong (look it up). They are one of the only high grossing shows the CBC has, a cash cow if you will. Again, inform yourselves before making comments. Don Cherry is not subsidized by our tax dollars, that is simply an ignorant statement. In fact it is exactly the opposite, Don Cherry and Hockey night in Canada help pay for all the brutal programming that is barely watched. Thank you.

  • @kwallace17

Its not a question whether not HNIC needs subsidy funds, the plain and simple fact is that the entire CBC (as a whole) is government regulated and paid for through tax dollars (and advertising).

You have no clue how the industry works do you, you think that HNIC is a separate entity within CBC that its not shared among all CBC assets? Give me a break, surely they make more money through advertisements during peak rating such as HNIC, but it doesnt mean...

  • @kwallace17

... that Don Cherry is paid strictly by advertisement money.

All CBC run programs (whether it be TV or radio) is equally divided among public funded tax dollars and revenue generated through advertisements.

Obviously the amount of money HNIC earns from advertisements alone is a lot, but that's not how the government regulates dividing up public tax dollars towards all CBC assets.

Try to understand (inform yourself) how the the CBC is managed, as a whole before you isolate HNIC.

  • @S13v7n Hey dip shit, You isolated Don Cherry and said "our" tax dollars pay his salary. Which is true if you look at CBC and how they operate on tax dollars/Advertising. In other words if you look at the scenario as a 6 year old I guess he doesn't earn his money. But any grown up can see that people tune in to watch him, hell even the people who hate him go on you tube to talk about him. In other words, HE GENERATES HIS OWN REVENUE WITHOUT NEED OF SUBSIDIES. AND HE ADDS VALUE TO THE POT.

  • @kwallace17

    Read the comments again:

luckyluc1970: "i'm talking about the way he uses our money to discriminate other people...that's my point.."

I was just telling MrMateroftheuniverse, that the CBC is publically funded, so its very well likely that part of Cherry's salary is paid for my you and me...your the one getting in an argument with the wrong guy here... If you've got a link to where it says for a fact that He doesn't get paid by us 100%, let me know...im not arguing against you...

  • @kwallace17

I agree with you 100% that Cherry could easily get paid by advertisements alone (without any subsidies), but in reality, all revenue earned by CBC is divided equally...thats what I was getting at...

By hey, start an argument over nothing...real classy

  • I'm not going to miss seeing people convulsing after a scott stevens hit. I'm all for fighting and big hits in the nhl, but if it means players careers and in some cases lives are going to shortened because of it then maybe it needs to toned down a bit.

  • why do they sit so fucking close together? LOL

  • @Riles07 LOL Where is Ron Macleans other hand?

  • Ok...so if i understand, this guy can say whatever he wants on russians, frenchies, guys with visors and now ex players with drug addictions...There's no end!!!

  • @luckyluc1970 It's called an opinion. That's why our country is great, your allowed to voice your opinion. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

  • It's funny, guys make millions for years to fight...leave the league, now there all anti fighting. Folks our game is one step away from being Womens hockey. Fighting is there to self police the players, if not star players would be attacked at every turn. If you have a guy who can fight on your team it is a deterrent to other players. There is no place for hits from behind or deliberate hits to the head. PS... Scott Stevens was a beast!!!! R.I.P. real hockey.

  • @Noles506 bullshit. Women's hockey? Now making sexist comments? Fighting in hockey is no more like how people enjoy crashes in racing whether it's F1, champ or nascar- you name it (except for derby). Hockey, soccery or what ever is all about athleticism. Real sports died a long time ago since now it's mostly a lay man's entertainment. So many people think their sport is the best sport in the world, or claim it for their country. SPORTS ARE ABOUT ATHLETICISM AND NOTHING ELSE! This is all a joke.

  • @finnsia . lol. In womens hockey is there hitting? No. Is there fighting? No. are they skilled athletes? Yes. The facts are what they are, that's not "sexist". Fighting is a small part of the sport, very small. I suggest you watch a game and jump off your media soap box and take your head out of your ass. In hockey even a fighter is an athlete, he doesn't just stand in the middle of the ice fighting everyone. You have to be able to keep up. Real sports haven't died and never will. Your a joke.

  • @Noles506 There isn't fighting in real sports. The only fighting in sports are those that revolve around fighting. If you think fighting should be involved then Calcio Fiorentino should be the only real sport out there. But really in hockey it's entertainment for people who sit on their couches. And it detracts attention from the game and most importantly - if the players want to fight then they should go into another sport. Hockey =/= Boxing. The two should be seperated. And it's** you're **

  • @finnsia You are wrong yet again. Fighting is not in the game for "entertainment". It's in the game to police the players. Why do you think Gretzky had a bunch of goons around him?So he could freely play his game and create offense for his team. If he was constantly being attacked, the Oilers would not have had the success they did. In Boxing two guys dance around hitting one another for up to 12 rounds, then are judged on who the winner is.in hockey a fight lasts less than a min. Bad comparison

  • @finnsia Like I said, if you enjoy hockey without the hitting and the occasional fight...go watch womens hockey, or kids hockey house league hockey, there not allowed to hit either.

  • @Noles506 Like I said, if you enjoy punching then go watch boxing, they're allowed to hit each other.

  • @finnsia In Hockey there allowed to hit one another as well. Stop speaking, each statement you make brings you down. If you don't like the game. DON'T SUPPORT IT!
