  • Awesome!

  • god sound,very nice man!

  • For the trill, if you are using a pandeiro with a hide skin, it helps to rub candle wax over the skin and then scrape it off with a smooth wooden edge. Vinyl skins are easier to trill anyway.

  • Nice style... like the groove. Thanks

  • Hey, how do you make that ... "trill" sound with your finger. It looks like your middle finger.

  • It's not easy to explain but not hard to do. Run your finger against the head almost perpenicular. The finger sticks and bounces along. It helps to have the finger slightly damp to make it stick but not too damp where it will slide. It also helps to hold the pandeiro loosely so it can vibrate. Good luck

  • Thanks, for the tip.

I just tried it, and you're right, if I dampen the finger a bit it works fine.

Well, at least your video got me to get the pandeiro I brought about 2yrs ago out the closet. Now I've actually started to practice the basics. :-)

  • This technique is not brazilian. Pandero comes from Pandereta of the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal). This trill technique is very ancient, before conquistadores arrived to Brazil.

  • This is a common roll used by orchestral tamborine players but they use their thumb when playing the roll.

  • Nice job, excellent improve.

Allen how did you learn pandeiro? In the midwest there aren't any teachers so video is our only option. Did you travel to Brazil?

  • My first lesson and first pandeiro was in Brasil. After that only a couple of pointers from other pandeiro players. I also learned from videos. To learn, just practice practice practice and you will develop your style.

  • great skill man! can u do a vid in slow mo of the basic samba

  • Rolls in the beginning sound good. What you need to work on next is the movement of your left wrist...

I also like the incorporation of wrist rolls at 1:18

  • muito bom =]

  • bravo
