Teach yourself, just by a crystal ball like that and start practicing! I learned a little bit on my own, mainly one of the labyrinth moves, but still pretty fun, and people are easy to impress. Just don't drop the fucker crystal or it'll have a scratch. Mine's all scratchy from practice :(

im not a juggler but im thinking about trying... someone said lacross balls are good to practise with as it dosnt matter if you scratch it and it apparently weighs similar to a glass ball

lacrosse balls are good but they are kind of small for learning butterflies. if you go that route, it will be MUCH easier once you graduate to heavier and larger acrylics, but the learning process will not be easy! don't give up though! it's so worth it. ps i've never used a real glass ball but i wouldn't recommend it, they are really heavy and break! on the plus side, they're way cheaper than acrylics :P

That said, I remember when they showed this special on OPB when I was a teenager and I was utterly enchanted with it. This guy is an amazing performance artist, dancer, artist, acrobat. As talented as they come.

well, I am not that edvanst yet... it takes lots of practis (and a lot of determenation). but you are really not supost to hear cliking! (it damegis the balls... and it leaves marks)(expesially on cleare acrillik...)

Hehe, shows how much you know about this man. One of the most amazing parts about what he does is; Those are not acrylic balls, they are crystal. Significantly heavier, and far more fragile. I prefer crystal myself personally... It feels more real and is easier to connect with.

He is without a joke the most talented man I've ever seen and all anyone was saying was 'I can contact juggle too and I can do it with my clothes on' and crap. It was bull. Most contact jugglers use clear acrylic balls which are lighter. These look like glass, and they can be found in various sizes pretty much anywhere. Mineral shops and esoteric suppliers would be the first place to look followed by magic shops.

If you are just starting to learn buy acrylic. Apart from the fact that they are lighter and easier to handle, they won't shatter when you drop them. And you will drop them. Alot.

Contact juggling supplies can be found in most juggling shops [yes, there are shps for jugglers]. Buy them online from Oddballs, a very fine UK company who ship worldwide. Suzie Oddball is one of the loveliest people in the biz.

Two very important points.

Firstly, no one here has said this is a "new" form of juggling in terms of skillsets - though it's fair to say no one had taken things this far before him. It is called a conceptual piece because artistically it is just that. He went in an entirely new way in performance terms and so created something very unique. The two are not the same at all.

Secondly, David Bowie does not contact juggle in Labyrinth. Michael Moschen does. It is his hands you see. Not Bowie's.
