Just wondering if you shot all the footage or is this just to purely show editing skills with other people's footage. Normal people usually equate what they see as belonging to the editor, when we editors know in fact that we only edit footage and we do not shoot the shots. Might want to clarify that or else they will end up blaming you for lots of stuff that isn't your fault.
@matreyia: All the shots I used in the demo are shows, shorts or feature films I worked on. But I am not a DP, so I didn't shoot this footage myself. Take care.
I'd like to watch your editing demo reel again after you've added music again, or after you've put together your next version. Some of the comments here seemed a bit harsh, and for some reason I read them all. There are probably some shots that aren't quite as strong or I felt like I had already seen. But also some nice work in there, like using the pole as a transition or the varied slow-mo of the car going around the curve.
I love the way so many people think that simply slapping together 1.5 minutes of random clips with no context, infos nor attention to simple things such as eye-lines or axis (yes, even if they're from completely different sources!) somehow shows how great an EDITOR they are. Sorry, quite the opposite.
And sorry, but there is NO SUCH THING as an "Apple Certified EDITOR", check your actual title (if you actually have it) and get it straight.
Nice Job!! I am researching editing reels cause i am trying to make my own. I liked yours alot. My goal is to become an editor. A Successful one :). If you don't mind me asking, do you have any tips on where to look for jobs?
wow, that is some good editing, how long did it take you to do this? i enjoy editing films a lot but i'd like to be a director, do you think you can check my video called pablo the spy and tell me what you think about it? you look like you have a lot of experience and i'd really like your opinion, good job once again 5 stars.
Nice job man.....but as others have said...u should add a scene in their man....i get this music video editor feel from u....i also am happy that finally someone puts some movement in their titles....most just dont bother. in ur post production course, wut classes other then editing did u have?
pretty nifty. im considering changing my major and entering the field in movie editing. is it really hard to find a editing job though? hows your luck? any pointers or words of advice before getting myself into it?
Not to directly bust on you, being Apple cert and all, but I been coming across ALOT of editing demos on YouTube that are nothing more the clips slammed together. Even unrelated clips can be put together to create a point of view.
agreed a lot of good work, but i dont really get a sense of you as an editor...in fact, i don't know if a demo reel is the right medium to show off your skills. i'd love to see just a 3 minute scene that displays seamless/creative editing.
You have a lot of really good work there. Some friendly advice though. I would add a small scene that you edited . This is too much of a montage for me. With that said. You cut your reel very well and unlike most I've seen, I didn't ever have the urge to turn it off.
You're great at cutting between shots....lol

And without AUDIO, even more nonsensical.

I was trained as a filmmaker, so we had screen writing, directing, producing and the different jobs on set. Thanks for your nice comment. Take care.
