  • The absolute greatest instrumental ever played. I am 63 years old and there is no other song that compares. It will be played at my funeral.

  • tulee mieleen lapsuusvuodet 1950 luvun lopulla .

upea tyyli soittaa klarinettia ja hieno orkesteri taustalla.

Petite Fleur ja La Mer ,,,,, ja monta muuta. onneksi hyllystä löytyy tuo vinyyli

  • tulee mieleen lapsuusvuodet 1950 luvun lopulla .

Strangers on The Shore, A Summer Place and Our Winter Love all in the 60s. there are other instrumentals we love but these 3 stand the true test of time this doo wop/rocknroll historian will tell you. all 3 will go beyond ETERNITY. Our thanks to the three composers . these songs will forever live in our hearts be it young or old this i can tell you. thanks to all 3 GIANTS. TOMK i know my MUSIC

My Mom was too poor to send me for music lessons.

  • NIce, a great tune from an era that I loved. I guess growing up in the 60's had it's ups and downs but the music was just fantastic from that era. I hope you finally did some music lessons.

  • No i never got to the music but as you see i still love good music and when I went on here to write you a reply I got shivers all over my body hearing this great everlasting piece of music. I did end up an Artist and Fashion Photographer.

My nine year old nephew has been playing the piano for three years and I give him a lot of encouragement.

    Thank You David

  • Happy Birthday Acker, 80 today!

  • Thanks for posting this childhood memory! Beautiful! I never knew the name of it until now.

  • pdm,

Also you should read the words...if you choose the 1st version of it from YouTube that is listed. Click on "more info" in the top, upper right-hand screen. The words are as beautiful as the song. This song was also used as a love song between Patsy Cline and her husband, Charlie in the movie..."Sweet Dreams." They danced so beautifully and tenderly in the movie to this very song. What a movie and what a song! Enjoy!-Sandra-S.C.

  • que tema!! creo que pasaron mas de 30 años que no lo escuchaba!! Gracias youtube gracias Bluebirduk!!!

  • makes you want stop what you're doing ,close your eyes and drift away , a truly beautiful tune . LOVE IT

  • I thought I was the only one who felt like that. It's my favorite instrumental. It reminds me of my childhood, summer, and a time when things seemed a little slower.

  • Does anyone have the video of when this was posted as a short for movies? I remember it from so long ago. Also, could someone please post the "flipside" of this record...it was called "Take these lips"...that was the most erotic tune ever recorded!

  • Search for "acker bilk -- stranger on the shore/ take my lips 45 rpm" - on youtube.

The flipside is played approx halfway thru.

  • OH HOW GREAT IS THIS

  • "Strangers on the Shore" = this clarinet music is the sweetest sound around. Granted not everyone enjoys soft hit music from days gone by, but I for one sure do. This site made my day and this is just as I remember my father playing it on the record player.

This was the first time my wife every heard the song. She was lying on the bed and had started to take a nap when I began playing it. I stopped it for a moment and she said, "Don't stop it that sounds really great." Thanks BlueBirdUK

  • if they ever make a film about acker bilks life story then surely there is only one actor to play him......robert de niro. look at early pictures of bilk and you can see the resemblance.

  • One of the best songs ever and from a real musician. I started playing clarinet at 9 and met Acker when I was 10, now at the tender age of 41 I'm still playing and Acker is my all time idol. Saw him last year, aged 78, still as good as ever.

  • thanks for this post, grew up on this music!
