I am lucky if they will just play - never can I get them to rewind or forward so if you pause it too long you have to watch the whole movie over again. What state are you in? You can watch tv and movies on hulu... It's free. I have an old tv in my room with a built in VCR and I still like watching VHS sometimes, but hulu can be a nice alternative.

I'm sure someone else has already thought of this, but if you know the brand name(s) of your VCR/TV, you can get a "universal remote" made by the company. Also, they have those VCR/DVD/TV all in one players/recorders now for under $100 at Walmart--consider getting one, and then buying about 100 replacement remotes. :)

Yeah, I have about 250 or so VHS, I dont wanna spend the money on DVDs... I just get em free online... your right though, the universal remotes only changes the channel for me, I cant even lower/raise the volume with mine, gotta go to the TV for it. It also doesnt change dvd/vhs/play/etc. even tho those options are ON the remote. ANNOYING!

I still have VHS tapes. I also have the cases that they came in, so they take up even MORE room. Mostly Disney movies from when I was a little kid.

We have a universal remote in our living room, and it's worthless. We have 3 other remotes for everything else. The TV one which we need to switch functions, my PS3 remote to play blurays with and our DVD recorder remote.
