I usually make a shelf that sticks out for more space. I make my shelves from Travertine, that matches the tile. I barely put any slope to it. The test is when you put wet soap on the shelf and it doesn't slid off. I premake my shelves exactly 1.5" (use a 2*4) and leave a 1.5" space, so the shelf slides in like a Egyptian.
Also on diagonals, I always run exactly 1/2 diagonals, balance in the space, then run a straight border. It much faster, copy's good Roman design, and is beautiful.
The Romans and Egyptians were masters at efficiency and beauty.
The Shampoo holders are totally inadequate. There should always be 2, the larger one for the woman, and smaller for the man. They can be made tall, so a shelf can be installed for soap underneath. Customers always say it doesn't matter, but it does matter. Putting bottles on the floor, doesn't cut it on expensive tile jobs.
