In the case of Smith, I think the whole thing is over blown. I understand that women continued sealing themselves to him even after his death until the practice was discontinued which would account for such numbers.

You could have made the video more effective by showing screen shots of the LDS Family Search website, demonstrating the said marriages. I totally agree with you, and have done the research myself... but this isn't going to convince anybody, mate.
J. Smiths NEW and EVERLASTING covenant of polygamous marriage did not last. And Galatians 1-8 states that even if an ANGEL FROM HEAVEN were to preach any OTHER gospel he was accursed. NEW covenant is ANOTHER one.

For the truth about mormonism please read "Mormonism Shadow or Reality" by Jerald and Sandra Tanner. Sandra realised that her great great grandfather (Brigham Young) was not a prophet after she read his sermons on blood atonement and the blacks. She and her husband led thousands out of the mormon church.

@BishopMahroni Actually, all you need to do is a little research of your own into a Journal of Discourses, Mormon History, Linguistics, Egyptology, DNA research, Archaeology and use a little common sense. The whole Doctrine and Covenants is full of contradictions. All you need is the Bible. I left the LDS church after my own research. Because plural marriage was taught. There were wemon who didn't want to live it with their mortal husband. So they had themselves sealed to Joseph so they could live plural marriage and be saved in the next life. This was NOT Joseph's teaching and he was against it. Many women who were married yet "sealed" themselves to Joseph&Brigham that way did so without the consent, knowledge, or presence of those men and did so in secret. I thought polygamy was a way to grow a large family by having lots of children, but why would Joseph Smith marry women in their 50 who were probably going through menopause? Furthermore if you even mention Joseph Smith's polygamous practices in any LDS class, you will be shouted down, ridiculed and probably reported to the Bishop for causing trouble. That is the reality of LDS church life. You are not to discuss the unsavoury aspects of the Church even although they are indeed true and recorded in official Church history. I have been in the LDS Church for 30 years, and I am well aware of the unrighteous censorship that permeates through it.

Show me one sunday school manual from the church that talks about Joseph Smith's polygamy. My son just two weeks ago was told in church Joseph Smith didn't practice polygamy. Growing up a seminary teacher told me Joseph Smith never practiced polygamy. When I discussed this with my mother she told me the women Joseph married who were already married had deceased husbands. Many Mormons don't know this history. The ones who do don't want to discuss it. GBH even lied about it.

I was told at church that Joseph Smith married 2 14 year-old girls. I was also told that he married 34 wives. I was also told that he married women married to other men. They're not trying to hide anything. We talk about it like every Sunday... This video hasn't told me anything I don't know.

The LDS Church STILL teaches polygamy as a tenet. It is NOT, however, practiced today because of the LAWS against it. That doesnt mean it isnt a tenet, which of course means IT IS CONDONED. They practice it every day, in Mormon Temples all over the world.
if you are a faithful Mormon wife and you die you can only get into the Celestrial Kingdom by being eternally sealed to your husband. If he gets remarried it is spiritual polygamy.

Why do you have to bash on Joseph Smith for having multiple wives? prophets from the bible also had multiple wives. God promised them their posterity would be numerous like the sands of the sea. So I guess the more wives the faster your posterity will grow. God did this for a reason which we do not know. No Mormon believes in polygamy these days.

Mormons still practice Polygamy in the temple. Widowed men are sealing polygamously additional earthly wives in the temple expecting to ressurect multiple wives. Polygamy is a key Doctrine of ther church. Monogomy came from the gentile Law which you all seem to prefer these days anyway.

These other women were not really his wives; he was "sealed" to them so he could have sex with them. He did have only one legal wife; the rest were sometime sex partners. Hardly surprising that Emma shoved one of her ex-friends down the stairs. Sex was behind all of it. Classic cult-leader behavior.
David Koresh was "also" idolized, by some of the women, in his group: and, it is known that he had a special upstairs bed, to be shared with some who were willing to "go on up" and commune, that way, with him, as well!
All it takes is to "revere" someone like Koresh...and Jim Jones...Rev.Moon...and Joe Smith.

In the case of Smith, I think the whole thing is over blown. I understand that women continued sealing themselves to him even after his death until the practice was discontinued which would account for such numbers.
Fact remains that Emma was the only wife he had children to .According to Emmas account, Smith didn't practice polygamy By that, I think she ment that he had no sexual relations with other wives, but we don't really know

Sandra realised that her great great grandfather (Brigham Young) was not a prophet after she read his sermons on blood atonement and the blacks. She and her husband led thousands out of the mormon church.

@BishopMahroni Actually, all you need to do is a little research of your own into a Journal of Discourses, Mormon History, Linguistics, Egyptology, DNA research, Archaeology and use a little common sense. The whole Doctrine and Covenants is full of contradictions. All you need is the Bible. I left the LDS church after my own research. As for the Tanners, Mormons will try to discredit anyone who uses their brain rather than following their "prophet." Read the Bible, its all you need. God bless.

1829 - Polygamy bad! (Jacob 2:27)
1831 - Polygamy with the Lamanites good!
1835 - Polygamy bad (Section 101:4 D&C) even though Joseph was already knocking boots with Fanny Alger before even having the sealing keys necessary
1838 - An angel says get practicing or die! Wasn't he already with Fanny?
1843 - God says Polygamy official! Joseph then turns around and denies he ever practiced it

Because plural marriage was taught. There were wemon who didn't want to live it with their mortal husband. So they had themselves sealed to Joseph so they could live plural marriage and be saved in the next life. This was NOT Joseph's teaching and he was against it. Many women who were married yet "sealed" themselves to Joseph&Brigham that way did so without the consent, knowledge, or presence of those men and did so in secret. Brigham tried to stop this hypocracy. This video lacks truth.

I now think it had more to do with sex and having an endless cadre of good willed women wait on him hand & foot--thats really sad because I'm willing to bet that some of those women actually loved him even though he was just using them, and were their husbands just standing by and allowing this to happen?

Some already married to faithful LDS men, (he asked for his buddies wives and daughter) and the ages of a third of them were ages14 to 20 while he was 36 to 38 years old. Show me one sunday school manual from the church that talks about Joseph Smith's polygamy. My son just two weeks ago was told in church Joseph Smith didn't practice polygamy. Growing up a seminary teacher told me Joseph Smith never practiced polygamy. When I discussed this with my mother she told me the women Joseph married who were already married had deceased husbands. Many Mormons don't know this history. The ones who do don't want to discuss it. GBH even lied about it.

Smith died in a shoot out in which he killed two men and injured another. That is HISTORIC fact. The christian martyrs didn't die in this way, trying desperately to save their own neck. I have not found a mormon that actually REALLY believes the BOM to be the word of God. look at the comment by wilford above he says imperfections exist in the BOM and the Bible of course in typical mormon fashion he fails to give an example.

2 Nephi is a crock of lies. A false scripture written by a false prophet. It doesn't hold water on any level. Go and do the archaeology on the alleged sites where all these bizarre events are supposed to have taken place. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
The New Testament can be corroborated by archaeology, the book of mormon can't.

yes, mormons are smart and also they think their are in the truth... May be they are? What you think? They are in the truth and polygamy was practiced and revealed to Abraham, the father of the faithful, and Jacob... If you believe the bible, well... study a little and the info here isn't 100% right so it's a BIG LIE! Joseph Smith marry only women given by God himself and obeying His holy word. When God revealed this law to Joseph, he wanted not to obey but he has to do it becouse he loved God.

The LDS Church STILL teaches polygamy as a tenet. It is NOT, however, practiced today because of the LAWS against it. That doesnt mean it isnt a tenet, which of course means IT IS CONDONED. They practice it every day, in Mormon Temples all over the world.
if you are a faithful Mormon wife and you die you can only get into the Celestrial Kingdom by being eternally sealed to your husband. If he gets remarried it is spiritual polygamy.

Why do you have to bash on Joseph Smith for having multiple wives? prophets from the bible also had multiple wives. God promised them their posterity would be numerous like the sands of the sea. So I guess the more wives the faster your posterity will grow. God did this for a reason which we do not know. No Mormon believes in polygamy these days.

These other women were not really his wives; he was "sealed" to them so he could have sex with them. He did have only one legal wife; the rest were sometime sex partners. Hardly surprising that Emma shoved one of her ex-friends down the stairs. Sex was behind all of it. Classic cult-leader behavior.
