Richards greatest song. A great great song. I am not a great fan of his but just love this song. Close to perfect as it gets for me. Rich sings and plays this perfectly. About a perfectly innocent-evil woman but then aren't they all?
I never quite understood the meaning of the refrain. I thought she was saying good luck (like "have a nice life"), but she was saying good-bye (see you tomorrow). No?
@caseyspaos I take it as her saying "Why don't you call me, angel, maybe next week" could be seen as a way of saying "good luck" maybe I'll be able to see you, maybe I will have time, and everything will be fine, sort of 'just try and it'll work out,' but she was actually deflecting and didn't have hope, knew it was the end and said "good-bye" through this expression of hollow hope.

Why do people fall over for the likes of dross like Kasabian et al when they are guys as brilliant as this writing real songs and playing like an angel. I have followed RT since Fairport and he has never let me down. Quality through and through!!
he's incredible...been listening to him for decades....even did the soundtrack for "the Grizzly Man", strange documentary of the guy who lived with wild bears in Alaska...until he was eaten by one...extras on dvd show Thompson playing/recording/talking to director...worth watching...
This guy is a living legend. So many of his songs have to be considered folk classics. Like this one. It reminds me of another song of his 'I'll be taking my business elsewhere'.
@TheSometimesWhy agree totally think he's so under appreciated...if u listen to persuasion its an amazing song and much better with richard and teddy than the crowded house version yeah he wrote it and as good as they are they cant put the heart and soul in like he did
