  • I agree I love his quality of piano playing. He might have not majored in piano performance, but his strong musical training at Curtis (yes Curtis, not just a regular music school) made him far beyond regular outstanding amateurs.

  • I love Clark Griffith. What a dear, wonderful man! I have watched "They Came to Play" now about 10 times. What a beautiful pianist! So glad that he placed in this contest!

  • safe to say Clark is the best performer of Bach amongst amateurs. He calls playing Bach his "religion". Stupendous balance of both hands.

  • Less than a minute into the video, I was sobbing. Such an amazing gift, he has.

  • I have never heard such a wonderful masterpeice! Simply amazing! And with a note regarding prior comments, I too am wondering why you are not on someone's label? We have to get you signed...to someone, soon. I cannot convey the thoughts in my mind when I close my eyes and just listen...emotions from no-where,racing through my mind..I will tell you, honestly, this is a first! I am truly touched by your gift...thank you...

  • I have played that fugue on guitar (Segovias transcription), and I love it forever.

Griffith is truly a wonderful Bach-player.

He does NOT sound like an amateur!

  • Great singing tone!

  • This is the way Bach should sound. I love this. It takes me right out of this world.

  • Wonderful ! I've never heard the the second piece. Someone posted earlier that its a transcription from the fugue of the Bach Violin Sonata in G minor. Is that a Busoni transcription ? I'd love to find a recording of it.

    Bravo !

  • I believe Clark Griffith transcribed this himself. He does lots of Bach transcriptions and is extraordinarily gifted at it (as well as playing them).

  • Amateur? Naw. This guy's got it in him! He's good.

  • Still, Bach Playing at it finest and most

     moving....

  • Lovely!

  • This sounds like a moment back in time into the 18th century home during a rainy and dark thursday night in front of a fireplace ...

  • I start every day with your Bach Playing on here. Thankyou and God bless.

  • Beautiful!!

  • The second piece is from a transcription of the fugue in Bach's Violin Sonata in G Minor - very nicely done.

  • who transcribed it?

  • Geez, ordinarily I'd say that only Glenn Gould could play these Partitas the way they should be played, but I see now that I was wrong. Well done, Mr. Griffith!

  • Perfection.

  • I have listened to this selection over and over. Clark, you did such a wonderful job- God bless you for bringing this gift to us. Only one question, which partita is this? Thanks! Irene

  • The Whole World should listen to this and I think it would be a better place. I continue to find this performance inspiring.

  • Clark,s hauntingly lovely performance continues to remind me of Dinu Lipatti. I feel that He is somewhere in the background and in the music.

  • Masterful and heartfelt, Clark! Thank you -- hearing this made my day.

  • Nice playing Clark! :)

  • Always loved this majestic Bach Partita and under Clark Griffith,s sure hands this was indeed a noble performance beautifully controlled. What pleasure this playing must have given to so many. Thankyou for this video.
