wow why the fuck do they have their hands in that position? if they got kicked by some1 who actually knows martial arts, they would break their hands.
@fight38club Why Chinese Martial Art isn't strong anymore?
because it was a skill of killing. and today u can't use these skills in a sport competition like this. do you know this competition prohibit hitting opponent's head and balls and such as eagle's style that kind of dangerous action?
This is Xing Yi Quan, be careful not to mix Xing Yi Quan with Wu Xing Quan, Wu Xing Quan is part of Xing Yi Quan but it's commonly called as Xing Yi Quan instead of Wu Xing Quan. Xing Yi Twelve Xing Quan is based on 12 different animals, Wu Xing Quan, part of Xing Yi, is based on the Five Elements.
noticed they're not really taking head shots in this, don't know if Xingyi guys are head hunters or not, but that is probably limiting the techniques they are allowed to use
also, kung fu in application is more compact and isn't as pretty as in your forms, that's why it doesn't look 'textbook'
or maybe all you guys would be pretty surprised at how different your art is in a real fight. when you're fighting someone who is just as good (or bad) as you are. chances are you wont see any textbook hsing i. just a thought
To an extent you are right, kempobrad, but that's not necessarily the case. Though I am far from a competent Xingyi practitioner, indulge me and let me tell my story.
The first few times I tried using my Xingyi in sparring, I was shocked at the nonsense I ended up doing. There was no Xingyi at all in my movements, and any attempts to put it in only made me look and feel more foolish.
After doing more paired forms and push hands work, however, I began being able to maintain textbook structure and use proper Xingyi techniques in both friendly exchange and sparring. This has been true even when sparring with people from other fighting styles.
Therefore, I contend that its entirely possible for one to fight the way one practises. However, having the right kind of sparring experience and the right kind of practice is essential. Just my two cents'.
@eastpaw Agree, as i noticed the same in my training. I think why most people think gung fu is 'useless' is because majority of people are to lazy to work at it and get the results that faaar surpass those in most typical mma training or any typical training for that matter.
@eastpaw Its about time someone else said this. I have never seen the point in practicing one way, and fighting another way. It seems a waste of time. I used Shaolin Longfist forms in real fight using real stances, and maintaining a low stance, and I was able to handle the other guys easily.
It's really hard to say whether they can or can't fight, but one thing's for sure. It's not XingYi I'm seeing, and the rule set as mentioned earlier isn't very friendly to Xing Yi techniques.
What a joke, to funny. These Chinese guys can not fight, and they sure as hell don't know how to apply Hsing Yi Chuan in a fight. I am sure they just practice forms.
