  • Why does the F-14 get launched from a catapult on a land based take off?

  • I'm one of those people who also enjoyed this game. Maybe because I watched too much Iron Eagle and loved watching the enemy models explode.

  • I played this game as a kid, and oh my. I can't believe how stupid I was.

  • Great times...

  • even the ps3 and xbox 360 cant do real graphics like these!

  • i reckon the best acting on the sega cd goes to sherlock holmes, i heard they used theatre actors for it.

  • I suppose the game would have been better if you actually flew the F-14 Tomcat rather than be the co-pilot.

  • AS a kid I was awe-struck, and lucky to find one with french voices.

Such a "monument" of the "nanardesque".

  • I just got this game on the Sega CD; it's pretty awesome. Some of the better acting I've seen on the Sega CD.

  • I was a teenager when FMV "games" started to appear. I already knew back then that FMV games were garbage.

  • Hmm these FMV games aren't really games at all...I'm glad that I've never played any :)

  • This is like a bad 80's TV show. I like it.

  • I paid big bucks for this "game" back in '94. I remember that if you deliberately messed up the first mission the co-pilot would say "What are you doing, you nugget?!"

Ahh...Back then, people were saying that this was the future of videogames - interactive movies. Thank God they were wrong.

  • Ashamed to say it but i played it also, Ratchet can be my wingman anytime.

  • Well at least the acting isn't as bad as it could've been.

  • i like this game. during my junior years and even now i still enjoy it. I now own it on the pc which has a better quality and sound. Dang i missed this so much. It funny the soundtrack to this game was awesome also for it time.

  • I played this a lot, and beat it. Although it is a FMV game, it was still fun.

I'm going to add this to my PSP Sega CD Emulator when I mod it.

  • Great, a game where you play the WSO (Weapons System Officer) like Goose. Was Afterburner too exciting a game for full motion?

That said, FMV games are a riot. Thanks for putting this up...

  • This is horrible. Who would have played this?

  • I suppose you're looking at him.

  • This game was pretty cool for its time.

  • @NailStrafer Me too, I loved this game!!

  • @nintendogsyo

    ur nickname defines ur ignorance.

I played this game to the end and its very cool.

Its a " quicktime " game YES. So?

  • @nintendogsyo I did too...as kids this game was great...actually seeing real video in a video game was just unheard of! As horrible as it looks now it was great then. Look at the old Nokia cell phones with only a green backlight. Sucks when u look now, but it was pretty awesome at the time, right?!?! lol

  • Why would they make a game about the F-14 and not let you fly it? And why would they name a jet after a male cat...

  • reminds me of the first six seasons of 24 and its currently-airing season 7

  • ah the good years i was playing this like crazy in junior high

  • Holy shit, I thought I was the only one.

  • Oh man, I remember playing this in middle-school! Holy crap what memories.

  • Yeah, I played the hell out of this back in the day. I'm kinda ashamed to admit that now though...

  • Ahh, F-14s launched off of catapults on a runway. The magic of cinema. lol

  • Does someone know the name of the very first song? I love it! :D

  • me too, every time I hear it, I end up picturing an aircraft carrier out at sea preparing to launch aircraft!

  • Hi,

I'm still watching this space for the full intro and main screen theme tune from you. If you've already uploaded it, could you redirect me, please? and thank you. :)

  • Actually, I completely forgot about it...

  • Where did the cat go? -He picks up the cat, but once he's at the security door, it's either turned into his security pass or disappeared! :S

This game was great! Only played it a few times, but...

Can anyone tell me how many levels there were, though?

  • I think there's just five missions total. Which isn't surprising. Most of these FMV games have a pitifully low budget, so the game usually ends up being pretty short since they don't have enough money to make a lot of footage.

  • Thanks. I kinda figured, but yeah. I don't think I ever finished it, because it was my friend who had it, and I didn't play it often enough. Great game though - watching this makes me want to go out and buy it, lol.

What I DEFINIATELY want is the theme tune on the main menu. Do you reckon you can get that up on YouTube?

  • I won't be able to do it for six weeks. I'm on the other side of the country from my Sega CD.

  • That's ok. I can wait. I'll watch this space. Thanks :)

  • best game of all time. still play to this day.....Games like this will never be like what they got today. RIP SEGA CD :(

  • Oh, man, the acting is so bad...Gotta love the delivery...

    "The entire. Western. Hemisphere."

Still, it has the F-14, so it has to rock.

  • This game was awesome. THE BRIDGE LEVEL WAS SO HARD. I missed the bridge like 4 out of 5 times, but I finally did beat the game.

  • And that's only the tip of the iceburgh. There is an additional cutscene of the train actually traveling across the bridge. The explosion was tremendious.

  • And that's only the tip of the iceburgh. There is an additional cutscene of the train actually traveling across the bridge. The explosion was tremendious.

  • I freaking love this game, its one of the best mega cd games

  • Poor migs, always at the butt of every american movie/video game. I wonder if the soviets ever made any videos/games with migs kicking the pants of US plains.

  • Actually there was a game on the NES called Mig-29 Soviet Fighter. You don't go after Americans (instead you're going after terrorists), but yeah, finally the Mig gets to be the hero.

  • That's awesome!

  • Oh by the way, you're not going after the Russians per-se in this game. You're only going after a rouge colonel who's broken off from Russia and has taken his own little chunk of their military with him.

  • So it's a hunt for the red october sort of deal.

  • Heh, maybe. I only know Hunt for Red October by name...never actually looked into it.

  • Tomcat Alley happened to be, in my opinion and many others, the best FMV game ever made and I thought it was actually a lot fun of. I'd love to see this game remade with our technology today and in Full Screen High definition. It would be amazing. Someday, someone will give these things another try and use the technology we have available to take to the next level... the level we couldn't reach back then.

  • Heh, it would be fun to see what could be done today. Problem is that I just can't picture any gaming company taking this genre seriously. Well, are there any companies you can see reviving the old FMV games?

Oh, and to be honest, I like Double Switch more than Tomcat Alley.

  • Hey Nail,

I think your commentary on FMV games is dead-on. But keep in mind that the technology of the times these games were made wasn't nearly what we have available today. With all of the new advances in green-screening and digital manipulation, games like this could be made free roaming. Also, because processors are light years more powerful today then in the past, the games would be very responsive (which they weren't way back when).

  • That was a fun game but I like sewer rat better.

  • I think you mean Sewer Shark.

  • It's been a while, but yes that is it.

  • Damn you Shadow 5! lol Classic!

  • cool footage i love this game, could you please upload mission 2 its just as interesting as mission 1

  • I liked this game: [ But I was sadly addicted to all the fmv games.

  • Boooo!

  • BLAAAH!

Dun like this game, I guess?

  • nope why did u make a video of this game why not something else i like all ur other videos

  • Historical purposes. Some of the people who visit my profile really enjoy me putting up retro stuff, so this is for them. Besides, I honestly find retro games to be much more interesting than new stuff.

  • screw nightcast9.. this game was fun

  • As I was a faithful owner of the SegaCD back in the day, I really apprecaited this video. Thanks, NailStrafer. Would love to see any more that you might have! (NightTrap? hehe)
