I paid big bucks for this "game" back in '94. I remember that if you deliberately messed up the first mission the co-pilot would say "What are you doing, you nugget?!"
Ahh...Back then, people were saying that this was the future of videogames - interactive movies. Thank God they were wrong.
i like this game. during my junior years and even now i still enjoy it. I now own it on the pc which has a better quality and sound. Dang i missed this so much. It funny the soundtrack to this game was awesome also for it time.
@nintendogsyo I did too...as kids this game was great...actually seeing real video in a video game was just unheard of! As horrible as it looks now it was great then. Look at the old Nokia cell phones with only a green backlight. Sucks when u look now, but it was pretty awesome at the time, right?!?! lol
I'm still watching this space for the full intro and main screen theme tune from you. If you've already uploaded it, could you redirect me, please? and thank you. :)
I think there's just five missions total. Which isn't surprising. Most of these FMV games have a pitifully low budget, so the game usually ends up being pretty short since they don't have enough money to make a lot of footage.
Thanks. I kinda figured, but yeah. I don't think I ever finished it, because it was my friend who had it, and I didn't play it often enough. Great game though - watching this makes me want to go out and buy it, lol.
What I DEFINIATELY want is the theme tune on the main menu. Do you reckon you can get that up on YouTube?
And that's only the tip of the iceburgh. There is an additional cutscene of the train actually traveling across the bridge. The explosion was tremendious.

Poor migs, always at the butt of every american movie/video game. I wonder if the soviets ever made any videos/games with migs kicking the pants of US plains.
Actually there was a game on the NES called Mig-29 Soviet Fighter. You don't go after Americans (instead you're going after terrorists), but yeah, finally the Mig gets to be the hero.
Oh by the way, you're not going after the Russians per-se in this game. You're only going after a rouge colonel who's broken off from Russia and has taken his own little chunk of their military with him.
Tomcat Alley happened to be, in my opinion and many others, the best FMV game ever made and I thought it was actually a lot fun of. I'd love to see this game remade with our technology today and in Full Screen High definition. It would be amazing. Someday, someone will give these things another try and use the technology we have available to take to the next level... the level we couldn't reach back then.
Heh, it would be fun to see what could be done today. Problem is that I just can't picture any gaming company taking this genre seriously. Well, are there any companies you can see reviving the old FMV games?
Oh, and to be honest, I like Double Switch more than Tomcat Alley.
I think your commentary on FMV games is dead-on. But keep in mind that the technology of the times these games were made wasn't nearly what we have available today. With all of the new advances in green-screening and digital manipulation, games like this could be made free roaming. Also, because processors are light years more powerful today then in the past, the games would be very responsive (which they weren't way back when).
Historical purposes. Some of the people who visit my profile really enjoy me putting up retro stuff, so this is for them. Besides, I honestly find retro games to be much more interesting than new stuff.
As I was a faithful owner of the SegaCD back in the day, I really apprecaited this video. Thanks, NailStrafer. Would love to see any more that you might have! (NightTrap? hehe)
Why does the F-14 get launched from a catapult on a land based take off?
Edd20022 1 month ago
I'm one of those people who also enjoyed this game. Maybe because I watched too much Iron Eagle and loved watching the enemy models explode.

I played this game as a kid, and oh my. I can't believe how stupid I was.

i reckon the best acting on the sega cd goes to sherlock holmes, i heard they used theatre actors for it.
Comrade2face 1 year ago
I suppose the game would have been better if you actually flew the F-14 Tomcat rather than be the co-pilot.

AS a kid I was awe-struck, and lucky to find one with french voices.
Such a "monument" of the "nanardesque".

I was a teenager when FMV "games" started to appear. I already knew back then that FMV games were garbage.

I played this a lot, and beat it. Although it is a FMV game, it was still fun.
I'm going to add this to my PSP Sega CD Emulator when I mod it.

Great, a game where you play the WSO (Weapons System Officer) like Goose. Was Afterburner too exciting a game for full motion?
That said, FMV games are a riot. Thanks for putting this up...

Why would they make a game about the F-14 and not let you fly it? And why would they name a jet after a male cat...

Where did the cat go? -He picks up the cat, but once he's at the security door, it's either turned into his security pass or disappeared! :S

Can anyone tell me how many levels there were, though?
