  • This is a very good analogy for my English class -- fu... full of re... ret... retards.

  • @jdunners100 youre not supposed to, its monty python, the best

  • i dont get it

  • When I was in first year University English; some of the class read like that. It speaks volumes about the quality of education nowadays.

  • How do you write a script for this?

  • The brilliant part is when Eric Idle walks in, almost condescending to the other two, starts reading with his soft voice and _immediately_ fails - gets me every time!

  • school in america ? :P

  • @numerocro Ooh. Burn. XD

  • By the way: is this really from Redgauntlet? I doubt it, since I can't fond that passage anywhere.

  • This is pretty much how I read Japanese manga.

  • A tea pea ton?

a boo at bad time? When?

Been watching the sketch many times but haven't heard the boo.

    Seems I missed the point.

  • galopped

  • Half the people in my class read like that...

    And I'm in High School...

    -_-'''

  • @RoseOfTheAlienage that is sad...

  • Who's the chick?

  • @7beers Carol Cleveland

  • Is there any Python expert who can can tell me who is in this sketch apart from Micheal, John, Eric and the Terrys?

  • @lapislazuli7 Chance is Graham is somewhere in here...

  • @lapislazuli7 isn't Graham the fourth guy that comes into the picture? The one with the blue shirt and headset?

  • @implacablesuspicion Sure, that's Graham... :)

What I meant was: Who are the others? Do we see real camera men, producers, friends maybe?

  • Is that a real flamingo ._.

  • It's okay, I have a fourth grade reading level too. I probably won't be able to read my own comment

  • I love how they stay on the first page.

  • this is how i read german. and i am german...

  • I once dreamt this happened to me. My worst nightmare yet

  • Half of America reads like this

  • @kittykatBflat I think this is hilarious, but I'm tired of the "Americans are stupid" song and dance.

  • @kittykatBflat I'm glad to be canadian.

  • One of my Pythonesque fave sketch XD . A rare occasion to see the Six together.

  • Ending Bugger !!!

  • And,of course, here comes the guy with the flamingo, right before the convulsing Scotsman...

  • @playmannn mate we scots all convulse

  • I wish Michael would read to me before I went to sleep :)

  • is it bad that im in my fourth year in highschool and i read like that?

  • @summerbatch09 dyslexia, maybe?

  • I want to visit Eng-Ding-Bugger.

  • This video is so funny. Both my sister and I enjoy Monty Python.

  • I've got a friend like this I have to read for him it's bloody irritating

  • I like reading like that, just to see how I can mess words up.

  • This is how a lot of my classmates read from books in the early 1970s. As the years have gone by, I understand the standards of literacy in schools in England have since sunk even lower. A sad indictment of the comprehensive school system introduced during Harold Wilson's criminal (socialist) terms as Prime Minister. Monty Python was brilliant, wacky comedy and every sketch was based on a perceived social reality.

  • I love the way Michael stumbles his way through "Edinburgh." Python is just classic.

  • There are too many unnecessary letters in English words (damn them French people!) and English pronunciation rules make no sense at all (them French be damned!) LMAO)))))

  • It was funny then, sad now.

  • I love that proud-ass smile after he says 'battle-y-ments'

  • Fempson savalode twignerther nicht war?

  • Anyone else hear "ALBATROSS!" at 2:16?

  • @ignisia "Albatross" "YAAAAAY!"

  • @MiniMolly14

Same here in Norway. I'm 14 to, and norwegians speek crappy english.

  • "To-wa-wa" "TOWARDS!" "Towards..." Love this sketch :)

  • It's painful when you're 14 and people in your class still read like this -_-

  • @MiniMolly14 In England yes, abroad - no. Why would a 14 year old foreigner speak or read perfect English? Don't be an arrogant schmuck.

  • @Lachausis Maybe she doesn't mean just English. She means when people in your grade can't read whatever their primary language is. It doesn't have to be foreigners speaking English. Don't try to pick a fight.

  • @supercoolhdm Thank you! That was exactly what I was saying -.-

  • wow, really? lol great, lol

  • Painful stuff

  • if thay read like that how on earth did they get the job

    well thats monty python

  • thumbs up for Endingburger :p

  • You're all ignorant twats. Can't you use Google at all? English was not invented by the Britons, its a Germanic language, and has assimilated words from several languages including Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, German.. it goes on and on. ( wikipedia ) /wiki/History_of_the_English_language and englishlanguageguide. com/english/facts/history/ should get you started. Christ.

  • @Kahli21

Next you will be telling me veranda, shampoo and conditioner were indian words assimilated by the english language.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kahli21 and a small special note for the thousands of Greek words...

  • @Kahli21 but you must acknowledge that the word "englishlanguageguide" was invented by Britons

  • @Kahli21 - LOL, that can be said for every single language. All languages derive and change over time.

Modern-English developed in England. End of.

But having said that. It's only because of Webster that Americans spell different. The English used to spell COLOR as COLOR. It's THEM that changed it. Ironically.

Color was spelled Colour to be similar to the french spelling as that was fashionable.

Also standard American English accent is closer to Shakespeare than "Estaury English".

  • @AngelFluttershy767 i think you drank a little bit to much red cordial hey? XD

  • Ah wuz goin' ta say sumthin' 'bout this heeyah whole America versus Britain thang, but ah think ah'll just keep mah mouth shut. ;)

  • ending-bugger?!?!? hahahahhaa

  • 0:50 Embingrunder... Endinburger... :) :) :)

  • Michael is SOOOOOOO cute......!!!!!! X3

  • Yeah happens a lot in So Cal (no law agianst them crossing the border for free schooling, then teachers pass them just to get rid of them Ole!!!

  • This is an american literature teacher.

  • @SuperIlluminaughty

I'm an American. You aren't one to talk about grammar if you can't even capitalize the name of a country properly. Being American or not has little to nothing to do with it.

  • @AngelFluttershy767 I think he's talking about how the Americans butchered the English language, especially considering they were an English colony at one point, and you spell colour as color, and loads of other words different to the English language actually does.

  • @fsriders

Excuse me? That's just plain stupid, okay? So we have our own way of speaking, it's not like you guys invented the language in the first place so don't act all high and mighty!

  • @AngelFluttershy767 what part of what I said was acting all "high and mighty" as you put it, I was just stating that you guys spell differently to us, good god you take offense to the littlest thing, I got nothing against you or anyone else, I just said what he meant, and how stupid do you get?... its the ENGLISH language, it came from ENGLAND... where the ENGLISH speak in ENGLISH....

  • @AngelFluttershy767 lol you probably don't realise the levels of wrong you have reached. English was invented by the ENGLISH, note the similarities? i hope to Buddha that you aren't one of the more intelligent members of your species.

  • i love his expression when he completes a word, correct or not

  • insert comment about hot blonde here :|

  • No, the bad thing is, that absolutely everyone in my class can barely read as well as this. And I'm in 8th grade.

  • If u listen closely u will hear somebody in the audience yell out "albatross!" close to the end. I died laughing at that part

  • 1:48 , These guys must be REALLY stupid because they need a blonde to correct them :-)

  • 0:46 micheal seems so proud of himself !!! HAHAHAHA

  • Mike is so cute!!!!! X3

  • 2:12 this video isn't funny enough lets throw in a random bird

  • @DustyPengwin Not a _random_ bird! It's an allusion to _Alice In Wonderland_.

  • Actually it's re..re..red..red..redgon...redgan...redgaut....redgauntel...redgauntelt....redgauntlet

  • 26 people didn't get bedside stories

  • YOUR SHOW NEEDS GIRRRRRLSS just sayin

  • ohhhh, goodness..

  • Sounds like my Top-set English class, except this is actually bearable

  • @homemadepro You mean lol. It stands for lougin...lau...luh...ummm....largi...uhh...laggu...uhh...lagge........Anyone?

  • Anyone notice the audience member who yelled out "Albatross! Yey!" when the guy actually came out with a flamingo

  • @MrMrmike5 Great, now I cannot unhear that from the sketch, and it's all your fault! xD

  • Gotta love this.. well I have loved these things since I born.. -79.. Monty4ever.

  • Michel is ridiculously adorable! He's one of my favorites in Monty Python.

  • Michael is so cuuuutie >.< Specially when he stands up briefly then goes out of shot

    i know wat u r tawkin about

  • @alinemerrow Yeah, same, even in England. Fail.

  • @alinemerrow thats cause you are russian.

  • terru gilliam looks so young

  • This reminds me of studying Latin in college

  • I know some people who read like this...

  • he is so adoreable

  • It's like when I try to read Russian in class. общежитие. "ob . . . obshe . . . obshezhit

    --obshezhitiay!

  • @Nukepositive Ochenj horoshij russkiy tovarisch!

  • @vef444 lol I die a little inside when ppl transliterate the letter "e krotkoye" (й) to "j," which, interestingly, was transliterated to "y" in русский.

Tovarishch. :P

  • @vef444 I'm sorry to everyone else for hijacking this comment thread. To vef444, I don't think заставлять is the right word. I've willingly taken a semester of Russian in college, and more semesters are to follow. I understood about a third of your post, but had to translate the rest online. Пожалуйста. Я польщён.

  • @Nukepositive Heh. Yeah, I am sorry too. But still, nice to hear that. Мои соски взорвались с наслаждением! Cheers!

  • Why Didnt the Camera man help?!

  • I love it how it takes ten people to put one person to bed.

  • People acctually read like this where I am from, these people are about 18

  • That was funny ... and Holy Short Skirts Batman! O.O

  • i know this is comedy and all but can anyone tell me what point they were trying to make here exactly? Don't get me wrong, I love Monty Python, and even though I'm asking - it still brought a smile to my face..I've got my own opinion on this, just wanted to know what others think.. :)

  • @carpeinfinitum there is no point of monty pythons sketches, there is only laughter

  • @Sulfur81 yes i do get it's a bit surreal like that but surely they must have planned to make some kind of point i think - it's too good not to have some fine idea behind it... just my thoughts :)
