  • Please tell me everything-

Did it hurt when they did the operation

    Or was it after

  • I had pneumothrox on both my lungs (happened 40 days apart from each other), i think they cut out a air bubble or something in the operation'

    I HATE CHEST TUBES!!!!!!

  • Its great to see what they actually do in there, I had 9 spontanious Pneumothorax's. 4 on the left and 5 on the right before i had pleural abrassion done on both sides.

I had the same symptoms everytime of tingling down my left arm and shortness of breath, vomiting and severe pain in my chest. That was all back in 2006 and i still have nerve damage and little feeling in my upper back and under my arms.

Just curious, has anyone else had pleurisy since there operation?

  • Thanks for posting this, finally got to see what happened in there 1 1/2 years ago. Even now, it seems that whenever i sit down, i still feel the tightness around my chest, makes me like standing up more now lol.

  • The "simple" at the end of your video description is 100% sarcastic (I hope)

  • This is a very nice video, you can see clearly what is done. What I'm most interested about is whether the removal of that small part of your lung caused any feelings of shortness of breath? Hope you are OK, thanks for the upload.

  • I had this on new years eve in 2001. Man, not the best celebration ever but they fixed it and for that I am grateful!

  • this happened to me about 3 years ago on both lungs. Had to get surgery done twice. Man this thing is a fuking pain in the ass. Had two tubes sticking out of each lung for like 2 months. I feel your pain, especially after the surgery, it hurts like a bitch. Thank god for morphine haha. You'll never feel normal again tough. Its like when you breath you can feel the lungs dont go all the way. Finally saw how its done thanks alot.

  • @breadNwater777 yea i had the operation done and i got my first tube out after 35 hourse and my last tube after 48 and the doctor said that it heals 100%

  • @breadNwater777 2 months? wtf? lol. I had this problem and I was out of the hospital in under a week. I think I need another surgery now tho :(

  • @delyshBB yeah the first time my left lung poped i was in and out of the hospital, no surgery done. All the doc did was put a chest tube in and let the air come out. and it was fine. The doctors decided i needed surgery when my right lung poped out of the blue like 2 weeks later. I had two operations which took like a month for each to work so it was a really crappy year, especially since this shit happened like in the 20some of November... so holidays sucked. Hope u dont need a 2nd operation.

  • i had this done less than a week ago (last thursday) didn't feel too bad after if but i started coughing and couldn't stop tensing my stomach because of it then was in agony (not really sore now though). its good to actually see how its done, thanks for uploading :)

  • @cameronj279 I still get that, but then again I didn't have much luck with my second operation :(

  • @OmNomNomFap that must suck....the main pain that i have just now is if i burp/cough etc a massive sharp pain in my stomach, it's apparently nerve damage from the operation and will last a few months which isn't good. and what went wrong with the 2nd op?

  • @cameronj279 Lung kept collapsing after the operation. and btw, the nerve damage stays aloongg time, My sides still hurt from time to time and I have to sleep on my back :(

  • @OmNomNomFap oh...erm....shit. lol hope mine goes away relativly fast.....i can only get a good sleep on my side. how long has it been since your op.....or your last one?

  • thx for uploading this video =D

    i've got a pneumothorax too^^

now i kwon what the hospital has fixed on my body \o/

  • I had a pleurectomy 5 years ago on my right lung. This vid makes me squeamish....eeeeeeek. Interesting to watch though to know what they did. I think I'll press the stop button now though haha.

  • 6:30....gosh wth is that, and why do they need to pull skin off?

  • @farenht456 so the lung would stick to it once its re-inflated....

  • i am sitting in the hospital now recovering from a full thoracotomy...i had the vats pleurodesis a year ago and that didn't take....have had five collapses...anyone have any thoracotomy videos? i will post some new stuff about my surgurey soon..

  • @Wasko750 Ah man thats not good. I know what your going through though and its not nice. I am sure you will get it sorted in the end. So have you have operations on both the lungs and they fucked up after taken the drains out ? On another note, how did you persuade the surgeon to let you have the video ?

  • @ggeorgiou01 fucked up the right one (most recent) the left lung is good as new.... also i got the surgeon to tape it cos hes awesome and it asked if i could stay awake to watch, he refused and offered a dvd instead

  • I feel your pain brother, I had the exact same operation on both lungs in sept 2009 - How you feeling now ? Fully recovered ?

  • @ggeorgiou01 left lung is fine (had that done last year), this years another story.. operation went ok but the nurse fucked up with taking the drains out twice, lung collapsed twice, resorted to having air sucked out with a needle, i still have a small pneumothorax that may or may not go away... been told it'll probably fill with fluid and never go, so my chances of having more is higher :(

  • @Wasko750 Wasko750 is my new username

  • Anyone knows what the two metallic looking things in 5:56 are? They look like rings. I saw the same thing in my chest from my pneumothorax surgery.

  • @redhotsupernova rings? the metal thing at 5:56 is a needle that injects some sort of solution under the skin so it raises up then he can cut, grab and peel it without damaging any other tissue (between the ribs and stuff) ... if thats what you mean

  • @OmNomNomFap interesting about the needle, i didn't know that,...but no, i was looking at the metallic looking things on the right side, stuck on the chest wall. you can see them clearly at 6:16.

  • SICK!!!!! so this is what they did to me -_-' lol

  • this is the best v.a thoracic surgery here on youtube. i didn't know that so much pleural tissue rupturing was needed for scarring. amazing, eh!

i can't believe the doc put his finger through the chest tube hole XD i didn't expect that lol

  • was this pleural desis?

  • Im home since yesterday after being in the hospital for 12 days, i only needed the drain but im really hoping the lung won't collapse again, i don't want an operation like that :o

  • but it was awesome

  • I don't like big pliers in my chest :o

  • @supermagneet pussy :p

  • I have to say thanks for this video. I had the same thing. Was in ICU for about 30 days and have nerve damage and pain for the last two years. Finally is getting better. I have always wanted to see a video of the surgery and because of you. I now know what was done. Thanks!

  • No problem man, was kinda amusing when he went round everyones beds asking them if they had any questions, they all gave him serious questions, i was like "oh yeah, can you record it for me", so he did.

my side still feels strange like an Indian/Chinese burn 5 months on, this what you experienced for 2years?

  • LOL yeah i describe it as it feeling like I have a piece of tape stuck to my chest but sounds like the same thing. Docs had me on pain killers, and nerve medicine for the past two years. I decided to stop taking them and I am used to the feeling.

  • I had the same surgery about 4 days ago and i am now at home. I am glad the worst is over and i can finally move on with my life. A painful and horrible experience.

  • wow really?!!?! i just had it last thursday.

  • I punctured my lung when I fainted for the first time in my life just over a year ago.

.... hit the floor so hard I broke my ribs and punctured my lung.

That was my first Ambulance ride too :)

I had the tube inserted while I was awake, thank you God for Morphine I say haha!

.... That's some video you have there,

I know how painful it is to have a pnuemothorax , the broken ribs didn't help.

Hope all is well for you now.

  • dude i feel your pain!!!!about 4 years ago my left lung collapsed,i was in the hospital for 32 days.glad to see youre better!!

  • I went thru that last year and the pain sucks really bad but thank God we are safe now.

  • @Elmer1989 I only really felt the pain for two days, that's when they sent me home with a portable drain in, when i got home i was in incredible pain, my lung had fully inflated and was rubbing against the tubes going into my chest. not cool

  • @Elmer1989 do you have any pains right now? or are you back to normal now?

  • yay...1st comment. your insides look like slugs ha ha. hope your feeling better now :D xx
