Pure genius, in all its simplicity. The opening is excellent, when that ruthless bass line slowly rolls in. Really just a funky groove with some funny lines, and he makes it work.
This is from the "It's just begun" album, which has much of this primitive, raw feeling. This, the title track, "Phyche" and "Bad" (no not MJ's) are all great tracks. Castor's best album by far!
Jimmy Castor rocked my world as small white kid. I wasn't even 10 years old when I first heard this!
During the music based AM radio days (before AM talk radio) of the 1970's....I would stop whatever I was doing, and listen to this badass tune! This tune was way too short!
Does anyone know who played the electric bass on this tune? This fella knew how to put some stank on it! This is vacuum tube tone...not transistor tone.
darealandyrampage: It's a pleasure to hear your reply! I'm sorry I missed my old email message to see his live show streamed to my computer " live from LA." That would have brought back some memories and I could sail away listening to his amazing Saxaphone...I'll bet you bet..right on, right on
Still tell my friends about the time I saw him at Le Coq D'ore tavern on Yonge Street at that time. Still the best thing I ever saw live. The snowstorm was one of the worst, but inside that club, it was happening.
Do you mean "E-man par-tay" perhaps? It should be "E-man", not "He-man". E-man as in "Everything man".
Wasn't "Supersound" pretty successful too? In any event, "Troglodyte", "Bertha butt boogie", "It's just begun" were the biggest hits. "Hey Leroy" was the breakthough, right? More than enough to be more than a one-hit wonder.
"Ya can't do that today fellas... 'cause it might come off!"

How about "He-Man Boogie"!? (I think that was the title). My fave; of course, it's the only one NOT posted! LOL.

Jimmy Castor was not a one hit wonder. Ever heard of Hey Leroy or The Bertha Butt Boogie.

what about "It's Just Begun" or "Potential" or "Space Age?"
one hit wonder, me thinketh not.

This is so funny ! But wasn't it censored in those days ?

No way. That's why the 70's were the greatest decade ever. That song was the favorite of my 6th grade class.
