It seems that you people who condemn this rollercoaster for being wooden & having a loop fail to realize that the loop it self is STEEL...not wood. If you look, the track visibly changes. Aside from the track before/after the loop, this part of the ride is no different than any other steel looping coaster.

Wish they had the sense to put it back in operation for everyone who misses it. It's so sad to see it at the park and know that nobody can ride it.

We had to wait for workers to climb the stairs to the top to explain the dilemma to us, and kept busy by singing songs haha. They ended up closing the ride for the rest of the day, but I was so glad I got to go on it, even if I got stuck, because it was one of the craziest roller coasters I have ever been on.

@Musajam It was fun..the only thing is that im a little bit on the bigger side..not fat..just a bit bigger....and my legs were really cramped and i got jerked around ALOT more than i ever have on any other coaster..but it was still fun.

nobody got injured from the loop, when they repaired son of beast after the track broke, they added lighter trains to give less stress to the track, but they had to take out the loop otherwise the lighter trains would not complete the circuit
@SaberTanker22 The loop got removed becasue 4 years ago 27 people got injured by a part of the helix parts supports, just before the loop, they said they felt a bump, so thats what made them decide to take out the loop because it might have led to further injuries.
Why did they have to take out the loop? It was the helix that hurt people! They could still keep the loop and still make the repairments and switch to lighter cars.
@Alaforte456 It was actually lighter trains that made them remove the loop. They had to get lighter trains to put less stress through the rosebowl. The lighter trains couldn't complete the circuit.
When I was 11 years old I road this twice with the loop and it was my first and only time at Kings Island. The ride literally kicked ass and it didn't matter how many times you ride it, its still awesome and scared the shit out of me. This, The Beast and the Vortex were the best coasters, but there was no question the Son of Beast was the best. I'm going back to Kings Island in 2 weeks!
@hdvoyagerfan yeah it is closed for being dangerous but the people who built it did not really built it right. So it started causing problems so a fun ride dystroyed :( They better fix that ride.... so many fun trips to Kings Island but Son Of Beast open for one of those many times.

My mom's friend's uncle worked on it or helped with this ride, and apparently they skipped a lot of safety steps. Also the wood wasn't the best wood. But I love this ride. I really hope they don't get rid of it. I hope that they can atleast upgrade it. Also Kings Island did something with their insurance so if you look on the "you must me this tall signs" they changed the heights, they moved them up. You can see how far they moved them.
I go to kings island all the time, About twice a week. Most likely there taking it out. The ride was removed from the 2010 Map and was closed for half of the 2009 year since someone got hurt. If you go over by Son of Beast the sign for the ride is removed. It looks like some catwalks were already removed and that there taking it out. If they do take it out they will have so much open area to work with and build a huge new coaster if they wanted to.
@DevinTheKewlio Hmm, maybe they removed all of the implications that the structure was even a ride (I.E. the park map, the ride sign.) because they don't want guests wandering up to it during this period where they are seeking future improvement to the ride. They haven't taken any catwalks down. Just a few weeks ago, they tested one of the trains on the track during operating hours.

This was my favorite ride ever. It makes me sad to see that the loop has been removed and the ride closed. I remember when it first opened! I was so young. The only time I ever rode it was with the loop, and I rode it for hours. I guess it is strange, feeling emotionally attached to a coaster, but this ride made me love them. Now with Kentucky Kingdom being closed, I feel even more terrible. I mean, that park held so many memories for me and my entire family. It makes me so sad...
i loved this ride sooo much , even though i was scared to ride it at first. lol the scariest thing about my first time was me and my mother rode this ride exactly three days before the accident occured. other than that the ride its self is pretty freakin sweet!! but i still gotta say the beast is my favorite out of the wooden roller coasters at PKI!!!

@Alaforte456 It was actually lighter trains that made them remove the loop. They had to get lighter trains to put less stress through the rosebowl. The lighter trains couldn't complete the circuit.

When I was 11 years old I road this twice with the loop and it was my first and only time at Kings Island. The ride literally kicked ass and it didn't matter how many times you ride it, its still awesome and scared the shit out of me. This, The Beast and the Vortex were the best coasters, but there was no question the Son of Beast was the best. I'm going back to Kings Island in 2 weeks!

@hdvoyagerfan yeah it is closed for being dangerous but the people who built it did not really built it right. So it started causing problems so a fun ride dystroyed :( They better fix that ride.... so many fun trips to Kings Island but Son Of Beast open for one of those many times.

My mom's friend's uncle worked on it or helped with this ride, and apparently they skipped a lot of safety steps. Also the wood wasn't the best wood. But I love this ride. I really hope they don't get rid of it. I hope that they can atleast upgrade it. Also Kings Island did something with their insurance so if you look on the "you must me this tall signs" they changed the heights, they moved them up. You can see how far they moved them.

I go to kings island all the time, About twice a week. Most likely there taking it out. The ride was removed from the 2010 Map and was closed for half of the 2009 year since someone got hurt. If you go over by Son of Beast the sign for the ride is removed. It looks like some catwalks were already removed and that there taking it out. If they do take it out they will have so much open area to work with and build a huge new coaster if they wanted to.

@DevinTheKewlio Hmm, maybe they removed all of the implications that the structure was even a ride (I.E. the park map, the ride sign.) because they don't want guests wandering up to it during this period where they are seeking future improvement to the ride. They haven't taken any catwalks down. Just a few weeks ago, they tested one of the trains on the track during operating hours.

This was my favorite ride ever. It makes me sad to see that the loop has been removed and the ride closed. I remember when it first opened! I was so young. The only time I ever rode it was with the loop, and I rode it for hours. I guess it is strange, feeling emotionally attached to a coaster, but this ride made me love them. Now with Kentucky Kingdom being closed, I feel even more terrible. I mean, that park held so many memories for me and my entire family. It makes me so sad...

i loved this ride sooo much , even though i was scared to ride it at first. lol the scariest thing about my first time was me and my mother rode this ride exactly three days before the accident occured. other than that the ride its self is pretty freakin sweet!! but i still gotta say the beast is my favorite out of the wooden roller coasters at PKI!!!
