emit loads of density for first few frames only & take ur swirl value to 10-14. keep sim scale around 2 to 1.5 & play with byuoancy dont keep it too high. use some fiedls like volume axis for push it in upward directions. then u shuld start getting some good shape.

They are really nice, but if you connect all of them to one, you will create the best realistic one :D
