Dive and squat, yes, as those transfer wieght as desired. But body roll, no. Only at one point in the video do you see a slight roll when he abruptly increases turn in. Otherwise, the car is flat, even in side-side transitions. You do know that stock street cars generally display a ton of body roll when cornered at such high speeds and G loads, don't you?
You do know that body angle is no indication of load transfer? You realise that you have lateral load transfer regardless of how much you try to limit your body roll?
Of course I know that. But reducing body roll minimizes load transfer and also maintains suspension geometry. Of course, now that we know the facts of the car, I was wrong, it is not an active suspension, it is a passive upgraded version of the Z51 shock.
Look at the body motions while cornering. NONE. Looks like it is indeed on the rumored magnetic suspension. This thing is going to turn jaw dropping lap times for a stock car. Go Chevy!
This car will be incredible. 150hp more than the Z06 with less weight. Hard to imagine. They are trying to make a road going C-6R (if it comes in at 650hp, it will actually have more hp than the C6R).
whom else noticed the 997 gt3 sitting behind the zr-1 and got completely dusted off the line. This thing is going to be a monster if the rumored figures are accurate. 650hp @ less than 3100lbs of weight. Ouch!
Good point. The GTR did fantastic but this thing has 160 more HP and wieghs around 500 lbs less!! The GTR turned in a stunning time, but unlike the Z06, GM will probably equip it real tires, (non-runcraps) and the new suspension appears to be active. The GTR and many others are going down.
Compared to what? Home appliances? I'll agree, the C5 & C6 are the best performing Corvettes ever made and are an incredible value, given the performance they're capable of, but shopping for one nowadays puts me in the mind of shopping for a new refrigerator. There's just nothing that attractive about them, to my eye. They certainly are, without a doubt, able to outrun their ugliness though.
What's ugly is that Porsche. Fact: Porsche never designs their cars with looks in mind. They are true to th game as automotive engineers. When Porsche does make an appealing car they refer to them it as engineering art. That said Ferrari has never followed such a rule & all I know is I have mistaken the C6 Z06 for one of my and I'm certain many others favorite designs(The Ferrari 575 maranello) more than once. So to me you calling this vette ugly sounds like some twisted form of prejudice.
So is that why a Corvette Z06 has lapped Nurburgring (only the most demanding track in the world, 13 miles long) in 7:42 and the Lotus Exige (the Elise supersized) has pulled an 8:42? My guess is the ZR1 with 150hp edge over the Z06 will even quicker than 7:42. The Elise is indeed a great car but get your facts straight before making ignorant statements.
if u know anything, it's not about the speed. Everyone that is smart and that owns a corvette doesn't race them, it's just for looks and the feeling of having a classic american muscle
