  • I don't see a big pic and audio difference ad for picture u need a big ass tv such as 56" to notice a marketable difference The audio sounds no sharper either i just bought a Bluray HTiB and jesus what A disapointment

  • Grats.. if you grow a couple of manboobs and put on some make-up you could fool anyone by telling them you have the period..

  • After fucking rewatching this, Dustin, I think you should've fucking swore fucking twice as fucking much as you fucking did. I'm totally fucking serious.

  • I'm someone who has seen both the good, and bad points of blu-ray. I truly enjoy the improved picture quality and audio quality. some of the other features such as picture in picture are nice for a commentary function. Things like BD Live, well, if you like it, use it, I personally find it to be un reliable Anyway from an A/V prospective blu-ray is an improvement over DVD, from a software prospective, it still feels like beta.

  • Ahahah, this is not stopping me from buying a BD player in a few days, but it was funny!

  • i got the same lcd as you =D

  • And the general whining and excessive swearing is just annoying. You'd swear having to hook something up to the internet or burning a CD was the most unreasonable, impossible task ever. How did you hook your laptop up to the internet? Did Best Buy do it for you or something?

I mean, if you don't like Blu-ray that's totally cool. Don't buy it. But this me-me-me rant against Blu-ray is childish, and completely ignores the many many people who love what the superior format can offer.

  • And as for the rest of your complaints, good god. Firmware updates can be unpleasant, but they are rarely a necessity, and DVD too had similar issues when it first launched. DVDs like The Matrix were incompatible with a wide range of DVD players. DVDs have been out 13 years now, so all that stuff has been ironed out, and this will happen with BD too.

  • On DVD, you frequently don't see grain - true. But this is because the resolution of DVD is so low that grain does not resolve. Lost with the grain are a million other small details of the image like pores and hair and texture on objects. If you don't care to see such fine detail, hey that's totally your choice. Keep buying DVD. But don't act like BD isn't supposed to show that high level of detail, because it absolutely is.

  • Second, the image in Die Hard is SUPPOSED to have grain. Film has grain. The image captured on film is literally made up of grain particles - the grain IS the image. It's like complaining that you can see pixels in a digital image - the pixels are what makes up the image, the pixels ARE the image.

  • I don't even know where to begin pointing out the poor arguments used in this video.

The whole talk of the DVD being unwatchable with faces disconnected from bodies and such struck me as totally incomprehensible - I literally don't have the first clue what you're talking about and have never seen such a thing with neither DVD nor BD. My only guess is that you have some TV processing options such as "Motionflow" turned on and the artifacts you mention are a symptom of that.

  • You can easily solve all your problems by getting yourself a ps3. That way you dont have to unplug anything. Ps3s have build in wifi and get Netflix and upgrade to Blu ray so you dont have to dish out 30 on a movie thats going to give you 3 formats of the same fucking thing (digital, dvd, blu ray) Problem solved

  • @AmunTheGreat I know. I'm actually heavily considering getting a PS3 for that reason. When I upgrade my personal setup that's likely what I'll do, but for now our HDTV and blu-ray player is for the family in the living room.

  • Dude, maybe you are just incompetent. Seriously, it is not that hard to figure out. The rate that technology is changing is so high that I am not surprised that players need updates.

  • @mikeballmball It's not necessarily that they require updates, it's that they require updates that are unavailable. It's like trying to access a program on your computer, but it needs an update first. Yet the update isn't there, you don't know when it will be there, and weeks later it still isn't. If that's changing technology, it's ass-backwards.

  • This is the dumbest, whiniest video I have ever seen on the internet.

  • oh my god you're the worst person stop talking forever

  • you idiot

  • Filligan, you have no idea what you're talking about. And you're not the Angry Video Game Nerd. Stop dropping the f bomb and do your homework before you post such a ridiculous rant.

  • @notsoboo Cool story, bro!

  • Man,you're great.You sound like my brother.

    Take care !!!!

  • I bought the Samsung BD-C5500C Bluray This Sunday. I also saidFu*k you! you pieces of sh8T Bluray! This Bluray format is nothing but grief! Samsung said they would send the dvd firmware in 5 business days. DVD is more reliable.

  • Grainy??? Thats what its meant to be!!!! Grainy means the picture is sharper! Film are meant to be grainy. If you go to a cinema, usually the night time scenes are always grainy.

  • @MTERM775 Well, don't quote me, but I'm sure that's a combination of the technology used to film the scenes and the fact that you're watching theater projector. You'll also get splotches and bits all over the picture in the theater because it's not running through a digital projector. Those things aren't present on a DVD and I can't think of an example where, unless the camera used wasn't particularly cutting edge, a film is *supposed* to be grainy.

  • @Filligan Essentially, the grain of film *is* the picture. The grain on the transfer is usually the most accurate recreation of what the film is supposed to look like. Getting rid of the grain, which is done for standard definition and for sub-par Blu-ray transfers, is a major point of contention and generally regarded as A Bad Thing.

But if you don't like the grain, you can always turn up the "noise reduction" setting on the Blu-ray player.

  • @Max22 Doesn't noise reduction give off other problems?

I guess I just prefer my clear DVDs that always work in my player. When will I learn?

  • Sorry to hear you are having trouble watching Avatar but I just wanted to make a few points.

    1. Upconverting DVDS on a blu-ray player is 50/50 at best, some will look better then others and it differs from player to player.

    2. When you bought a Blu-ray Player you should have done the research and have been well aware that you would need to do firmware updates periodically on it, so your argument on that is irrelevant.

    3. Don't blame the entire format for your player's faults blame Samsung!

  • @TheBluLife It's not just Samsung with this problem, I hear it coming from Sony and Sharp players as well. Oddly enough, it doesn't matter what model your DVD player is, your DVD of Avatar will always play on it no problem. Funny how that works. So when I weigh format against format, I guess the one that still plays movies every time wins out. But that's just me.

  • @Filligan Well You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I hope you do get the situation resolved avatar is a great movie.

  • @TheBluLife I'm sorry to hear he wanted to watch Avatar !

  • well said bro! lol I agree with you man

  • Cynical, sardonic and fucking foul-mouthed. Thus, naturally I fucking loved it, dude.

  • Having the same problem apart from its a program i use on my laptop to play blu rays which requires an update yet the update isnt up yet so i cant play it which is really annoying.

  • Dang! After hearing that I'm not getting any movies for my ps3.

  • @123jesse123 Actually, your PS3 is probably connected to the internet if you play games online, so you won't have any problems updating. If there's one place the PS3 is superior, it's in playing movies.
