  • Russell, right, yeah, I saw him like 20 minutes ago, in my hs theater. He was in a show we put on called Broadway comes to Robbinsville. People sang this song, but not him, though. Still, besides Russell, we had Brett Colby, Amy Maude Helfer, and DIana Petras. This is a great song!

  • this is the best rendition i have heard on youtube. one of the most beautiful songs in theatre.

  • This is one of the best renditions I've heard besides the original cast recording. Bravo.

  • love the dude on the right. *_* always pitch-perfect!

  • i love russell he is amazing!!!!! i grew up down the street from him and was in chorus with him andhe is just soo good!!!

  • Really gorgeous! Ahhhh.

  • i dont brag, but i really know russell fischer. i knew him while he was jersey. my aunt beth(amory) had him in her choir. i remember seeing him as jimmy in modern millie in plays in the park, roosevelt park, woodbridge NJ.

  • gorgeous.

  • Another impressive element: these singers have let the music itself convey all the drama of the piece. Too many singers overdramatize the music with exaggerated scoops and belting, as if the score itself does not contain the necessary theatricality and excitement. But these singers' strict adherence to the written music lets all the natural drama of the piece shine through brilliantly. That takes discipline. Bravo.

  • Everything is impressive. But one particular element stands out: the brisk tempo is delightful. Singers over-impressed with their own vibrato love to drag the tempo through the mud. But these two have overcome that temptation and provided us with an enthusiastic tempo that keep the listener excited and attentive. Just wonderful, in every way.

  • I think both the guys should have switch parts. Guy 1 has more of a tenor voice than the other one... its like too high for him or something. Also, homeboy needs to practice some dynamics.

  • I like the bass/baritone, whatever you are ... not too wild about the tenor though ... or the higher voice guy on the left.

  • its so beautiful!

but does this remind everyone of harry potter?

  • a little fast?

  • good instruments, really boring to watch. Where is the emotion??? The movement?

  • Na minha opinião, o mais belo dueto pra vozes masculinas!

  • W.O.W. is all I can say. Achingly beautiful voices... and the performance was beautiful too.

  • great job! I like the guy's voice on the right in particular

  • Wow! this is an amazing version of this song.

  • My lessons teacher had two guys that I went to school with, do this song, And they were amazing.

  • ummmmmm wow. thats the only thing that can be said. you guys made me cry and gave me shivers. ah. fantastic.

  • Overall not bad... Although the first guy screwed up the words to the first verse... But i still enjoyed it :)

  • I know this song inside out and upside down and I swear I didn't even notice the mistake, I was so caught up watching. :)

  • I just went back and listened again... he didn't mess up the words, did he?

  • Yeah he did. At 1:15 its those eyes that gave him life and hope he'd never known. Not those eyes i feel will never ever let me go. What he sang is part of the second verse not the first.

  • Haha cool. When I saw "first verse" that's what I listened to... but it's kind of hard to tell what verses/choruses are in music theatre songs. :) Thanks! Still, GORGEOUS performance, guys.

  • yes he did. the first time he said Archies lines instead of Craven's

  • That was absolutely beautiful! One of my very favorite songs from this musical and you fellas most definitely did it justice! Great, great job. :)

  • Stearns, I totally just creeped a BILLION of your videos...

And I must say, you have one of the most most beautiful voices I've ever heard. And this piece was done beautifully. BRAVO.

  • So so beautiful, two gorgeous voices! :) xoxoxoxoxox

  • this is amazing. my high school is doing this musical. i'm a dreamer. if only i was neville..... i love his part in this song.

  • uz are mazing so powerful but em soory i laughed at the bit at the end where stearn matthews went eyyeeeza hahaha!

  • You guys give me the chills! i was mary lennox when I was 13..and this song was always my favortie. AMAZINGG!

  • i think russell sounds incredible! i originally found this looking up stearns, and now i think i'm in love with russell! ha

  • not quite there.

  • Comment removed

  • ouch. thank you? i feel the part i sang is more appropriate for a lyric baritone than a tenor such as myself. stearns has such gorgeous tone and resonance. we're pals - this was the only duet we could think of that we both knew! hehe

  • hahah sorry if i offended just very passionate about what i do :) re-reading my comment i realise that woah calm down ben but again passion! i agree that the part is more suited to a lyric bari but i think as tenors we cud both easily pull it off :P more duets!!!!!! :)

  • It's ok. Russell's on Broadway now. I think he knows what he's doing. :-)

  • ooo! What's he doing?

  • He's in Jersey Boys as Joe Peschi/Franki Valli (u/s).

SEE HIM! For most of our lives, we lived less than a mintue away from each other. LOL! It's amazing to know that I lived that close to Broadway star-to-be.

  • So, when you are on Broadway, can we say that we saw the talent earlier? Amazing, as ever!

  • I must say that, though the characters are older people, I think the thinner texture of this song makes it better for younger voices.

Though I do think they could have taken it a little more leisurely; it feels rushed and not at all bittersweet.

  • is it me, or does the guy singing the tenor part (russell fischer i think???) have a voice quite similar to Raul Esparza? (check him out on the "Company" revival recording - awesome!)

  • he does sound simalar to raul yes

  • Sterns...wow is all we can say! and oh yea thanks for making us feel really, really old! You are amazing! Leader was a long time ago, uh :)~ hope all is well....

    Deana Toma-Rittenhouse and Dave Rittenhouse

  • great job! i sang neville's part in college. it's a great song. bravo

  • phenomenal!!!

  • ooooo! watch that release! and besides that, almost no emotion. a little at the end, but beyond that, nothing. pretty good vocals though.

  • something is telling me that no one was talking about their attractiveness but their talent. and wow, that was incredibly ignorant. and mr. stearns i live in the princeton area, could you let me know if you have a performance anytime soon? you are fantastic.

  • They're both busted.

  • hahahaha

  • for me the short guy is way better! the tall one is good too no doubt but the short man is better.

  • BEAUTIFUL voices.

  • Insane! me and my mate sang this in our musical review, stunning performances!

Stearns you never cease to impress me!

    5 Stars

  • This is so amazingly beautiful. You tow sound better than the original Broadway cast's rendition of Lily's Eyes. I fell in love with your voices!

  • they are fantastic, but i think you're swimming in hyperbole with that one.

  • stearns I can't live without your voice...come back to me.

  • this was beautiful! you both have such full voices! i always love hearing you sing Russell!

  • That gave me goosebumps! That was absolutely amazing, your voices sound great together.

  • That was fantastic! You gave me gosebumps!

  • who's the piano player, looks like my friend Chris...yes?

  • Cris Frisco?

  • yep, that's who I thought it was!! I'm assuming this is Stearns (or someone related to him...) - great performance, beautiful voice!!

  • yes, it's me! thank you so much!

  • With the exception of Quast and Warlow this is the best version I have heard. Far superior to Mandy Patinkin's nasal prattlings. Well done, lads.

  • Would love to hear you guys do the duet 'my friend' from the Schoenberg Boubil musical Martin guerre! Youd do a great job

  • Who wrote this 'the secret garden' - its rather fine!

  • You're both absolutely amazing!

  • wow.....thats all I have to say.......wow....Wooww......WWOW!!!!!!!!!!!.....FFFFFFRRRRRREEEEEAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG WOW!!!

  • your voices complement beautifully - you should do more together!!

  • Haven't heard that song in a while. Wonderful. Makes me want to go dig out my broadway cast CD.

  • left me breathless boys! Wonderful job!
