This song brings back a lot of memories. During the South African Bush War in South West Africa (Namibië) this particular song by Julie was a huge hit and loved by many a soldier. It was also a good song to sing along. I'm so happy to hear it again after nearly 32 years!!!!
A truly, truly authentic voice. Sang in her own accent before it was considered 'cool'. No affectations, just a true singer belting out and FEELING the song. Love HER!
All thanks are due to Rick Branson for dsicovering Julie. She is a giant amongst women singers. I always knew she was os much better than that Argentina bullsh*t She always had impeccable diction as well, not like the drivel you hear today. .

a magnificent, clear voice - forgot how great this song (and her voice) is - heard it last about 30 years ago, sadly her only 'Top 20' single here in S.A after DCFMA. Thanks for posting!
With the songs you keep posting, well you could almost be me!! :P I do like so many little known/hard-to-get tracks from this era. What impresses me most is that you got hold of a hi-fi version, which has elused me. Thanks so much!
Clear, honest, real, Ice and Steel in her voice all at once. A wonderful tone and honesty to her voice. Take that, Beyonce and all your vocal gymnastics!
Must admit that the more I listen to it, the more I like it. But that is mainly because of Julie Covington's great voice. To me, the song itself seems to be a forgettable go-thru-the-motions pop ditty. There are 5 or 6 other songs by Julie Covington on YouTube that I prefer.
Wow, many thanks for the vid! What a pleasant surprise to find a Julie Covington song! Not a great song, but her voice is clear and beautiful. Do you have any other Julie Covington recordings?

Now if only someone could find the promo clip for this song, with a cameo by Richard Thompson (who wrote the song and plays guitar on it)!
