@HerdoRalden Sorry I was so bad at fixing up my page to meet your standards of femininity. Didn't realise you were the one who decides on those things.
I stand corrected. I said that the other version of this vid is the one I first saw in some club in Chicago in 1984 w.some Brasilian girlfriend I had at the time. I was wrong - it was actually this one! Love it! Brings back all those memories of club Medusa I think it was called. or was is Smart Bar? anycase, 80s music was the best. I was in my 20s and those were the best years of my life! I agree w/MystikWizard!
Love this song sooo much. But both vids are a study in 80's culture. Check the bass player's "Something About Mary" hair, the odd little pony on the drummer and the lead singer seems to have some creepy thing about keeping his hands in his pockets. Bless 'em all for their music, and for being brave enough to be different!
@DariaNPDX I dont think it's so much being different, these days especially where i live, indifference is the norm with all the brainwashed people who listen to Gangsta-Rap and are sell-outs, the early 80's in England especially was a great time for fashion expression and freedom, now those macho-men call you a faggot if you dont wear their shitty clothes!
@MrSwedjen You are correct though. This song should have done far better than it did. I think it received nearly non-existent air-play here in the US. A few years later 'It's My Life' did far, far better; dance clubs here played it a lot. Probably because of the nice bass groove and lovely keyboards. But I have always liked 'Talk Talk' better.
The problem is synthesizer manufacturers can no longer get the TTL chips that were used to build 80's synths. The only thing avaiable today is DSP crap. Musically, MOST bands out today (not all) are not even interesting enough to suck. They're just ...nothing.
Really cool video....love all the white suits and all. 2nd best single from the UK released in '82...the only one better was "Temptation' by New Order.
This has nothing to do with this video but... We made a video of Bad Romance, our version. We didnt have much but we tried. We are trying to get this video to lady gaga so we were thinking if it was really popular somehow it will get to lady gaga. So please watch it, you can see it on my channel. Some bad angles on the synth - obviously they weren't sponsored, but I think it's either a Synclavier 6 or an early Roland Juno 106. The clue is in the wooden box, and the sound. Judging by the piano treatments this was an extremely overproduced song :)
@natfandaggy This reply is a bit late, I think the synth used may be an Oberheim, or possibly a Roland. I do know that those synths were used on Talk Talk's first album, hope this helps.
Hmmm, some of the sound/feel of this first Talk Talk album is showing up in Lady Gaga's latest/best stuff (Bad Romance). Too bad Talk Talk were never comfortable with success/stardom the way Gaga evidently is.
There was absolutely nothing like growing up in the 80's. I am so grateful to be born in the late 70's to experience as much of the 80's as possible. You can't beat the Music, the TV shows, the movies, etc. from that Era.

you are a stupid sap.
the 80's was the most cheap, fake, and fabricated scene that ever existed.
i hated the 80's. fake fake fake. nothin cuttin edge.. just cheese.. cheesey synth music. the birth all that is fake. fake hair do's , moose, jel, parachute pants, spiked fag hair..dye it bitch
It may be cheesy by today's standards of and people who did not grow up in the Era, but certainly not to me. I'll tell you this much, I'll take 80's Music anyday over this crapfest of a Music Era. TV was far superior back then. Movies were far superior back then. Hell, the 80's had even more leeway with content ratings back then, compared to today. Today is way to PG-ish.
Agree with you 100% my friend music today is fucking awful. I was a child during the 80's but it seemed that the world was a lot more happier back then. 1982 seems so far away now. Yet, the early 1980s had such a futuristic sci-fi feel. Up til the late 70s it was sort of hippie and then when the 90s came it was all grunge and rap. Todays tech with early 80s sound.
I think you just nailed it right on the head. Man, 26 years ago, when you say it like that. Convicted murderers don't even get 26 years. I'll be downloading this little gem for 99 cents happily. Everytime I hear a certain song from the 80's, powerful memories come flooding back.
