its usual that gk's lift their knee up to protect themselves. but this gk tried to hit the player a bit...perhaps he didnt want to injure this player, but he did.
The goalkeeper is allowed to raise a knee to protect his/her exposed mid-section, which this keeper did with his RIGHT knee, but then intentionally followed with his LEFT knee to hit the onrushing player in the face. Bookable offence.
this is totally a legal action because the keeper went for the ball and had it in his hands, also it would be taken as the the other player ran into his knee. hate to be the guy who got kneed though.
I find it hard to believe that he did it on purpose, its a simple jump from the keeper, i doubt that he can find the timing to both get the tallest jump + catching the ball and time mid air to hit the striker in the face with his knee.
that was nasty... stupid keeper. im a keeper but i dont go up and straight up knee people in the face all the time like that i mean omgosh.... good reaction from team officials though quick reaction
Two things seal the call for me. One - the goalkeepers eyes are on the ball, clearly. He makes a clean catch of the ball at eye-level. The onrushing attacker may have been in his peripheral vision, but certainly not his focal point. Two - a goalkeeper stretched out to catch a high ball is far more vulnerable than the lower, onrushing attacker. The attacker has an array of options to avoid a collision. Goalkeepers are trained to raise a knee in response to threats when going up for a ball.
@DMG6886 agree, i am goalkeeper, and i'm sure he isn't trying to knee him in the face.
it's painfull but clearly an accident. that kind of jumping in, if i don't jump in like that then i can't even get much higher then the striker ( i am not verry tall ). it helps with balance too.
i am also a keeper and i think the knee to the head was completly fine. he was just protecting himself in the air. Ive been taught to do the same. could of showed more respect after the player was injured though
kick someone? naa but id knee u in the face if it meant winning the game...ima keeper too nd i do this but tha guys an asshole for acting like its all good he shuldv atleast pretended to give a shit about the guy on the ground..
The striker was getting ready for a collision before the keeper's knee even came up, albeit very close to the same time. The striker had overstepped his limits.
With that said, I still think the keeper used excessive force.
(con) place. In this case, the keep swings his second knee after he's already in the air, an agressive and needless move, and one that rightly deserved condemnation. That is why keepers are not taught to do that. That he also obviously swings his 2nd knee AT the forward (who is not threatening; he wasn't jumping for the ball, and his body language clearly makes that obvious. The keeper knows that, dont be naive) makes this all the more worse. Dirty play by the keeper...
I read your entire conversation. What point are you refering to? I know you have your opinion and I mine but your assessment is just plain wrong, thus why I called it naive, which, btw, is not an insult but merely a description of your assessment of the incident. Its naive (or ignorant) to think that what the keeper was doing was merely protecting himself. Anyone who has experience playing soccer can see that its obviously alot more dirty than that...
I've been playing keeper since I was ten, yes what he did was dirty, but your obviously naive about the keeper position. I learned to protect myself the hard way, after some dirty forward charged me when I went up for the ball, he knock me off the ball and in the following scramble kicked my hand and broke it. Since then if ANY player is charging when I go for the ball they put themselves at risk, because I'm going to get the ball, and if someone gets hurt I guarantee it'll be them.
that son of bitch can burn in hell! Geir ludvig fevang is Kristiansands pride and if you ever touch him again i will FUCK YOU UP! You got nothing to do on a soccer field!
lol....he ran at the heinz muller....muller couldnt do anything ffs, it was the players fault for running into him and he knew that the keeper had the ball
Hey guys, when you have an opponent charging in on you and you don't know what he has in mind and you are going up into the air where you are totally vulnerable to anything stupid he might try you sure as hell better defend yourself. The keep clearly had the other guy beat to the ball and the opponent came in on him anyway. I feel for the guy who got cracked in the head but for fucks sake what can the keep do? Let the guy hit him instead? No way. You charge a keep expect to get killed.
First of all, the striker is slowing down his pace while closing in on the goalkeeper, so he's not so exposed after all. Secondly, lifting his left leg is a completely unnatural movement for a goalie in that situation. I do understand why goalkeepers try to protect themselves, but in this instance, he goes up with the right leg, then shoots up his left! This is borderline violence, and a true copy of the Schumacher incident.
WTF! At full speed in a game situation where the keeper is totally focused on the ball he's supposed to notice the forward slowed his last two steps! And how is it that lifting his leg is completely UNNATURAL when every keeper brings his leg up for protection and is taught to do so? If the forward wasnt close enough to hit the keeper then he never would have been cracked in the head.
1. Mike, you must be one crappy goalkeeper if you were taught to protect yourself with both legs. The first leg you lift of the ground is the leg used to protect yourself, not the second one. Being from the US and 40 years old, I'm guessing you probably never played football at a decent level and don't have any experience.
2. Anyone who's had a shred of keeper training, has learned that the first leg you lift is for protection. In situations like that, it is the striker who is vulnerable.
And now the insults come out when all else fails. I get it...I'm the stupid, ugly, fat American and therefor should STFU. God forbid I should have a debate with you and disagree.
And it doesnt matter what leg you come up with you protect yourself however you can. The keeper jumped with his right leg up first & the forward came from his left. Whats he supposed to do, contort in mid air?
Besides its professional football & these are grown men paid to win, not little boys having tea and crumpets.
No, all else don't fail, but what amazes me is your inability to realized that professional goalkeepers are trained to protect themselves WITH THE FIRST LEG they lift of the ground. THAT's why it is unnatural of him to use the second leg, and the displinairy commitee suspended him for that "assault" as well. How come it's impossible for you to understand that? The keeper is not vulnerable at all in that situation, its a silly argument: When he's jumping, he ought to know that while (cont.)
lifting his knee when another player is closing in, he's close to the players head, and therefore should be aware of how he's exposing the striker! And your latter argument: The fact that he's a professional and gets pay doesn't imply that he should accept getting his skull damaged severly every once in a while.
As long as footballers don't wear protection pads, the players should show some degree of caution, or else, football would not be be able to attract the "artist", such as Ronaldinho, Robinho etc. Do you think it's fortunate that this player damages his skull severly while doing his job, just chasing a pass?
Whether you like it or not professional football around the planet is very physical. You can search on YouTube and find any number of videos of some overpaid mouthbreather coming in, cleats up on the ball carrier and snapping his leg. Its just the way the game is being played
And training is one thing. The game is wholly different. In practice you dont have to worry about someone breaking your leg or knocking you out of the air. If that striker had bumped the keeper in the air he could have....
And when someone tosses something at you to catch you catch it with the same hand you write with just as when a keeper jumps into the air he does it the way that comes most natural, in his case with the right leg up.
Then you argue that he should be aware that he is close to the strikers head but that would be the case if it was his RIGHT leg that hit the striker.
And youre analyzing this whole thing to death with the benefit of slow motion. This is...
once again at game speed. The keeper brought the leg up at the last moment when the striker threatened to come in on him from his left side all while collecting a ball, IN THE AIR, after a bounce.
And listen silly. In my very first comment I said that I feel for the guy who got his head cracked. I dont like seeing anyone get hurt. But at the pro level the game is just ruthless and you have to protect yourself. I saw a clip of a keeper who went down for the ball & got kneed in the head. He....
His skull was fractured and he doesnt play anymore. Thats why a keeper MUST protect himself at this level. Afterall, in this case, the keeper didnt go to the striker to kick him in the head the striker came in on the keeper.
Hey ursavostock, I'm not sure what experience you have in soccer, but its obvious the keeper here is being overly aggressive. There was no need for swing your knee out like that in the direct of the player. Tht is not protecting yourself, that is attacking the forward. Keepers put their knees up in defence, as in, their knee is already up and locked when they jump and make contact with the forward. That is why keepers are taught to keep their jumping knee in the air, so that its locked in (con)
@sgblack90 soccer goalies are trained especially to come up with one knee facing the attacker to defend ones self, this is an exceptional example of that and in no way is this a card or a foul
@whatnowalli while u are right, this isnt how there trained to do it by any means this is an example of him using this rule perhaps to his advantage but this is not how there trained
Are u fucking blind? 0:23 .. "Accident" .. He knocked him out with his knee and then he's playing like nothing happened.. What son of a bitch is that keeper?
Of course he didn't .. Oh Lord..Dumb people all around ... I guess your living in your virtually world of World of Warcraft or whatever and you can't even notice when your mum steps in huh? "Oh mum, i didn't see you, althoug your standing right in front of me .. " -.-
I don´t think it was a foul because the keeper catches the ball in his area and the player has no chance to get the ball anyway. I also think that the keeper didn´t want to kick the player. He just jumps up in order to get the ball and not to kick the forward.
Anyway, I´m sorry for the player who gets knocked out.
Finally it was a players fault. I'm a keeper in a lower division and i see that only few players in all of league are trying to fight with keepers for a ball like that. Its a keeper area and he can to do like that. Cheers
thats what u get taught to do as a keeper... u put ure knee up so strikers are less keen on bundling u into ure own net wen u catch it. this guy went way over the top though
I hate that Fucking asshole og a german after he kicked Fevang Down he shootes the ball out, that makes me even more Angry.
I'm glad he has left Norway, cause I swear that if i meet him I will take a Knee Kick on him.
He deserved a Read card, but he did'nt get anything, Start should have been arward a penalty, but they did'nt get it.
That makes me even More Angry + If Start had scored on that penalty tjey would got one point who could saved them from going down to 1. division. Fuck Muller
he was out like 2 years and has several scares in hes face after the operations he had to have after that, fucking unfear play and really unnesessery by the goaly

Finally it was a players fault. I'm a keeper in a lower division and i see that only few players in all of league are trying to fight with keepers for a ball like that. Its a keeper area and he can to do like that. Cheers

Yeah, but your supposed to as a keeper. When opposition is near, you are supposed to jump with one knee raised to move the opposition :D

That goalie could've damaged his neck!
And then his team mate would've made it worse by flinging him onto his back, just so he can look into his eyes...So there's 2 idiots in this video

my favorite team is LSK, but that kick has nothing to do with soccer... ugly kick, should have got the red, and many matches out.

That makes me even More Angry + If Start had scored on that penalty tjey would got one point who could saved them from going down to 1. division. Fuck Muller
Tunsberg93 3 years ago
he play in england now for the team i support, hes one of the best keepers in england, premiership teams are wanting to buy him, and
