  • @josplit

Haha totally agree :D but this one was a quick sketch made in few minuts.. nothing more ;)

  • cool work

  • Very nice work, I love it!

    1) I'm very curious what filter did you use for the lightning in 3dsmax / Mental Ray for the gausian lighting effect? it's just beautiful :)

    2) Did you use SSS for the texture ?

Congratulation for the nice work my friend :)

  • this is like something from resident evil apocalypse

  • Beautiful render! May I ask, how did you get such a realistic feel to the figure in terms of render settings, lighting, and materials (shaders) ? I'm a Maya user and I develop for games but I'd like to get into rendering more. Can you fill me in?

  • @Ziggurat2009

The realism comes mainly from the shader + lighting . i used mental ray and some area lights to get the soft lighting like i would do in photography, then i spent some time working on the materal to get it where i wanted, sadly there's no ultimate solution for everything , it's always about spending some time looking at reality, analising it and then trying to reproduce in 3D .

  • Awesome! What is the polycount on that thing? And if it's not very high, how do you preserve all that detail?

I always lose a ton of detail when I go from Zbrush to Max :(

I'm still kind of a n00b in zbrush.

  • @ADogAteMyComment

thanks ! don't remember the polycount at all on this one, then i spent some time working on the displacement map and settings in max to get the result i wanted, nothing magic, just trial and error with the displacement settings :)

  • @zobzobzobzobzob Thanks, man! Those comments helped me quite a bit actually. I'm a game modeler so I am always trying to get pretty renders with normal maps... not sure if thats possible. I've had varying degrees of success. I'll give displacement maps and area lights a whirl next time. Thanks again!

  • is that from doom3

  • @aidan773 Nop just from my mind... but it's not thwe most original thing haha :P

  • @aidan773 oh it still looks great tho

  • haha nice concept dude n___n u should try animated walking xDDDD that posture looks pretty cool and walking probably looks pretty good xD

  • You`ve stated that render was made in max with mental ray. Did You retopologize this thing? what is the final polycount (the one You`ve rendered). Awesome work dude.

  • i liked most the rendering, really "real". good work...

  • Your models are amazing, If you want to share the sal file I could build the part for you for free. Greetings and compliments from Switzerland raffo ch

  • wow, mental ray? hmm.. thats looks awesome.. make the tutorial, how to put models from zbrush into 3ds and get same result xD

  • what you have created here is f*cking hardcore; you have lots of talent; cool organic shapes in that

  • super sculpt and nice light on the render

  • Thats awesome. Do you know a safe site where u can ( Eherm ) download it for free :=)?

  • Hehe probably, but i can tell you i personally know the pixologic team, and when i see the amount of work they put in Zbrush just to find new ways to be creative and go faster with more fun... all that work for us artists, they really deserve that you buy the soft .. also pixo is not autodesk ansd its billion dollars haha, so would be cool to buy it ;)

  • :P heh. i would if i could afford it ( broke as a blown up brick wall )

  • download the trial on their site (full version), it's free, test it, out you got 30 days, plenty of time to try it and learn it as well. Then when you think you're really up for it, at the end of the 30 day, buy it or reinstall and try it for another 30 days if 30 isn't enough. In the end, if you use it for commercial work, gotta have the license anyways.

  • in zbrush can you make your model walk?

  • Probably in the last one, i know there's a script over there to make a zsphere skeletton walk :D

  • @NathanHaleOpal you can make your model and then open up other programs i dont no watthey r at the moment i am new to zbrush but in those programs you can make em walk run do that stuff, you sought of put a skeleton in side of them and make a scene like pivot or u can just use a script like walk ;)

  • @NathanHaleOpal Yeah in ZB4 they're beginning the animation facets.

  • @NathanHaleOpal Yep, the latest version comes with a simple animation tool. And there are plugins for older versions as well.

  • can you rig and animate models after you sculp them in zbrush?

  • Of course, after modeling in Zbrush you can rig a lo density model in your 3d software , to get the same look as in zbrush , you'll have o use displacement and normal maps on your character shader.

  • what i don't understand is, if people can make Great renders like this with Zbrush, why not USE Zbrush for Games and movies?

  • Actually Zbrush is used in almost ALL video games modeling, movies (specially movies) and almost every 3d production :D

Sorry if i wont share the max scene, but you can find tons of tutorials on internet, it's really not hard to get this result !

Yep it's the mental ray SSS i used, pretty cool shader even if it gives a lot of bugs in animation :p

robinmitra1 >> yess i'm the Simon Blanc from blur :D

    thanks all again !

  • really? i never knew they used it, i mean this model looks really realistic when Movie CGI (except Beowulf) and game graphics look not as good, they should hire you, id hire you

  • Its not all about how it lookss, specially models for games rely heavily on the size of the model, and how many triangles the models have. If a model has a blilllios tri's it will make the game lag like hell.,

  • hm true, but i bet it won't be THAT long before we get a Game engine that can take it all in

  • klass

  • please can you share the scene with the lighting and the material?

  • so theres no problems to incorporate it into the onther program? like 3ds max

  • That all depends on your poly count and how good your computer is. If you have more than 100,000 polys it will start to chug on just about any system when you pull it into 3ds max or maya and begin to manipulate/animate it. I would only suggest using zbrush for fine tuning an already created model for added detail. Creating an entire body could be well in the 1M poly count if you don't know what you're doing :X

  • Typically you'll keep all your lower subdivision levels, so you can export a lower poly count version of the model. That, with a displacement map from the highest subdivision version, can be used in other programs to allow animating, but to also show all the detail.

  • dammit i dont know how to render like this

  • is this rendered with subsurface scattering?

  • Hey can u tell me how to make the character turn but not the background wall and floor?

  • im guessing cause he renderd in max the model is rotating independently .............. DUH

  • Wow dude! I can tell by this model that you're very creative and imaginative! Have you ever worked on any low or big budget films as a 3D Modeler or Animator? Or do you even plan to work as one?

  • gOOOD wORK MAN

  • nice...ur simon blanc from blur?

  • scary shit

  • Really cool model

  • shit i dig it man.. really cool style

  • good sculpture any chance i can trade you some computer programs i have for a custom sculpture.

  • Awesome job dude!

Do you still have the model?

    Can I check it out?

  • thats cool
