  • This is great and everything but I wish it had subtitles, Velikovsky is hard to understand.

  • Immanuel Velikovsky's theories deserve as much credibitly as Joseph Smith's "Book of Mormon." From this statement you can draw you own conclusions.

  • Did he say "redskins" ????

  • @CreoleCommando

Yeah, that's what we used to call you. Don't get PC preachy on us, we don't give a fuck. Call me honky lips if it makes you feel better.

  • Like the beginning explanation this so true this is true within all entranched institutions / industries. They too often do not welcome new thought and challenges to their economic models.

People like Tesla, Wilhelm Reich, and countless others are often , hindered, co opted or outright suppressed by the existing power structures within academia and industry. Good example read Feynman about the Challenger investigation or Robert Becker about the human body's Electromagnetism and healing.

  • eat a puss

  • Velikovsky's book was banned at some schools and libraries... it's interesting that almost 40 years after his books were published, during a 1997 scientific forum, most scientists agreed with a lot of Velikovsky's theories...

  • @conwilli

That's not right. Even if they refused to have a course that studied his ideas his book shouldn't have been banned. That's going way too far.

  • If he was such a fu%$in crackpot why the fu%$ did the scientific establishment, led by a young jackass by the name of Carl fu%$in Sagan, get his book banned? Thats just bull sh$#!

  • @RideMyBMW

His book wasn't banned you moron.

  • ooaAAAAOOO!!

    Boring!

  • Exactly - how can we discover and realise without debate? The world would still be flat. What's wrond with these fascists ? -Freedom of thought and press and expression in ALL

  • Fascists? Lighten up. Nobody banned or burned his books, procecuted him or threw eggs at him or ANYTHING. Plus Macmillan made him a favour by passing the publication rights over, endowing him by fame due to controversy.

It's amazing how somebody tries to get away with mere speculation over myths, creating his OWN alongway too - and when being criticized for that, some come out and talk of fascism.

Actually, he had not a vision-but an illusion and it's sad the impact it made on people.

  • He was attacked by his peers for expressing a different opinion - even in person in a 'debate' when he was an old man - and you think he had an illusion? Let's read your book on the solar system - i won't hold my breath

  • ...which makes it pretty apparent, that you'd read whoever's book.

Plus i don't "think" - or haven't you paid any attention to HIS works? By merely attaching religious scripts to given facts of his time, he came up with speculations, not scientific THEORIES, let alone proof.

Democritus WAS a visionary when he conceived the IDEA of the atom, but Velikovsky proved to be not an illusionist-but a man overwhelmed by his own illusions, and I'm referring to the Venus idea.

  • how do you know his Venus idea is incorrect?

  • Unlike you,I tend to take notice of the opposing side's writings and sayings, considering debunking his tenets.

The man wasn't even a mathematician, let alone an astrophysicist. One could only describe him as of having philosophic tendencies, trying to give substance to myths so to bridge them with contemporary facts,on no acceptable theoretical grounds. He however said his piece-he even made millions out of it,wasn't this enough?Should his allegations be awarded of academic merit,to make u happy?

  • he made millions? really? prove his ideas wrong in your book - i'll buy it - look forward to it

  • Why don't we do something of more fruitful nature : I'll send you mine for free, but you're gonna spend some of your money on getting at least a book from any accredited scientist referring to Velikovsky's claims, plus spend some of your time on reading it.

  • send it

  • I wish CBC Canada would re-run this and other history and discovery subjects on science, astronomy, faith, hummm

is there anything else as important.

  • "The audacity of such thoughts" Velikovsky was a fearless pioneer who demolished entire fields of academic study with his wise approach to thinking outside the box.

His rebelliousness was met with violence and hatred, because he exposed the many weakness of the seriously disproven academic theories which make up the foundation of so-called knowledge of all who claim academic degrees.

  • The long-time domination and subversion of the matriarchal in our nature and our understanding/learning, by the patriarchal. Very interesting series of videos, thanks Rep:)

  • conventional schools of so-called higher learning are more or less pure bullshit.

free thinking is suppressed rather than

encouraged. education is a form of brainwashing, it creates good consumers and

blind followers. completely useless. Velikovski is a revolutionary.

  • i agree that schools, education is a form of brainwashing in many aspects, but velikovsky has no scientific evidence!

  • @koukou6464 PhD stands for : "Piled higher and deeper"!!!

  • What this guy says in the first two minutes is very profound.
