Chuck is a person, Chunk is a sound when used by ukulele players. Ask any other respected ukulele players. I tend to go along with what Aldrine Guererro says; Chunk!
thank you and have a nice day.
oh and if you people would read the info, the link to the "chunking" tutorial is in there.
Alright, I guess it depends on who it's coming from. Arron at HMS is awesome and if he says "chuck" that's fine with me. Aldrine says "chunk", other people say "chunk". Again it just depends on the person.
There was still no need for the "stupid" comment.
The best way to learn is to go to: ukuleleunderground(dot)com and type "chunk" in the search bar. Seriously, Aldrine gives the best advice on the subject.
I wish I could paste a direct link but youtube is funny about that.
"UKE MINUTES, Aldrine addresses a question that we’ve been getting a lot lately … “So how, exactly, do you do that ‘CHUNK’ thing??” Check it out. The chunking technique is used to add a percussive sound..."
The ending to this video is super confusing and I'm having a hard time learning what you're trying to teach... The rest really helped and you went through the steps, but I felt like you stopped going step-by-step towards the end.
for the begninning part can you tell me if you chuck and pinky at the same exact time? or is it one after another? thanks. great video dude helpin alot
Awesome tutorial. I just picked up a Uke' about two weeks ago. And with absolutely no previous musical experience, I am starting to get the hand of the song with your help. Have you considered doing any tutorials on Iz's songs? Kamalani, Heneheno Kou Aka, etc?
@dagwood4 I don't know how to play Kamalani, but check out DOMINATORUKE here on youtube. He's got 2 tutorials for Henehene Kou Aka, the main song and the solo part. Thank's for the comment/
@9konsti3 I do touch the strings when I chunk. It's hard to explain, but Aldrine at Ukulele Underground does a great job explaining it. I'll post a direct link to the lesson on the sidebar because it won't let me here.
@Ryrod should i get this chunking right away? or is it a learning thing? ive been messing around w uke for about a year and have never been doing it the way they show it on uke underground....looks like i have some catching up to do
@td321 it's definitely a "learning thing". Chunking took me awhile to get good at. All I can say is what everyone else says, "practice, practice, practice". I've played a uke everyday since I started in January '09 and I'm still learning and getting better at "beginner type" things.
chuck not chunk stupid.

How do you play the D chord?
NikkyNic 1 year ago
@NikkyNic
Either bar the G,C, and E strings with your index finger, or place one finger on each separate string.

@Ryrod hey at 3:54 when ure doing the c7 cord.. what is the strum pattern? u dont say it and i can watch ure hand quickly enough?
Bamleft13 1 year ago
@Bamleft13 I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Em pattern before it. I just sat here and played it and I think that's it.

if you dont want to chuck you can simply mute all strings and it is a similar sound to chunking

aznzoned 1 year ago
@aznzoned it's the same time. actually, you don't even need the pinky mute.
Ryrod 1 year ago
@Ryrod yup. Disregard the pinky. If yo do a good chunk there is no need for a mute.
