i just tuned into you tube for the first time last week,it's bought back a lot of memories of pthe great music we listened to back then. i think i'm addicted
May GOD bless whoever posted this recording. It took me back through the portal of time to my home church where our Adult Choir sang this song! I led me to think about a many saints who have "moved on up a little higher"! I will transcribe the words and sing "I Trade A Lifetime" when the opportunity presents itself!
So glad I finally found this song! Been searching over 30 years. Hallelujah!!! Love it. Praise God!!! Appreciate all the info. Thanks, all. Thanks, Vanessa, for singing it all the time when we were in the WACs. Wherever you are, I hope you are fine and that you learned life's major lessons: Love God and always be faithful to Him -- no matter what. God bless.
Two of my first cousins and a group of their friends song this song at our first cousin's funeral Feb.3,1977. I was 8 years old. When I found this I was at one of my first cousin who song at the funeral and we song along with this video. My cousin said I have a memory of an elephant to remember this, but I Thank God for my memory, because I can share the old stuff with my children.
Just found this song. I have it on an old LP by Rev. Bronson but of course no working turn table to play it on. I have not heard this for many years. This is truly the power of gospel music. Many of TODAY'S so called gospel artist could learn much from this. Thank you for posting.
Have we forgot about Bro> George Winfrey (Chicago Pioneer Organist) from the Original Thompson Community singers? The one who George Winfrey and Rev. Brunson started the tommies. George winfrey was also with Clay Evan and Fellowship and Haven of Rest M B Church chicago. Let us not forget of those who has made a way for us the current.
This is in memory of Ms. Zenola Williams. Thank you for teaching this song to me as a Young Adult. With your help it became a signature song. You were sooooo very anointed as a pianist and vocalist. I know you are singing in the heavely choir along with my mother Daisy Belle Evans......You both have traded your lifetime for many days in paradise...God has himself Two special angels.....Love Delores A. Evans
ettenna2718 & PurpleSnowman the lead singer's first name is Maggie I don't remember her last name at the time she recorded this song; but she later married and her last name became Childs
Her maiden name was Maggie Bell. She was singing with Christian Tabernacle with Rev. Maceo Woods. I think she is now working with Minister Deandre Patterson at Destiny Worship Center.
Well bless your ears for listening. I"m delighted that you love this song. We used to sing it many years ago, just thought i would post it. I figured someone may have wanted to hear it.
Yes, my ears have been truly bless. I had an outing with my choir this afternoon (7-20-08) and before leaving I tried to find this song, I could not, but I tried again when I arrived back home, and I finally found it. Thanks so very much. I too, wish that you have the O'Neal twins rendition also. Still I am thankful for this one. ettenna2718
Yes, it does bring back memories. Already I have played it over and over again, at least six times. I am going to bring it to my Minister of Music and Choir Director with the attempt to lead this song with my choir. Wish me luck. Thanks again, Ettenna P.S I am getting ready to listen to it again...(smile)
Purple Snowman29, I have been trying to find out who the lead singer is/was singing the lead of "I'll Trade A Lifetime", and from my research, the only name that I came up with is the late Cyndi Hines, although to me it sounds like a young boy. Well, whoever was leading that song, all I can say is "well done". Thanks again. Ettenna2718
