It just makes a zinc layer around the copper, not silver. :-P But jeh, looks a little like silver. :-) Where the coin looks like gold is actually bronze, or special bronze since real bronze is actually copper and tin. But jeh, this does look a little like gold. :-)

Another cool one is to put coins on a dissolution of mercury nitrate (i don't know if it's said lke that in englihs). You will get the mercury ions to reduce themselves into a mercury bath around the coin. It comes out in less than ten seconds silver, toxic, and greasy. Very cool
