I'm not one to buy things because of a brand name, or because its vintage, or well known, or someone famous played it. however, if i ever found one of these in good condition i'd probably buy it and just hang it on the wall on of my guitar store to show people. cause that's fricken cool i think! pretty useless with the new modeling technology out these days, and I can play organ so its also less useful. but still sweet! thanks for the video dude.
It's silly, but it was experimental. I played one once when I was a college freshman, about May of 1971, after Vox had already sold out to Fender. I wish I had one now. It'd be worth a fortune to collectors.
@fazialpalmierung'I think'! That's the trouble, for all it's obvious faults there's something unique about this instrument's sound that would be hard to replicate. It would be great for recording. Maybe once or twice. Probably horrendous to play live...
Clearly, everyone circle jerking over the fantasy of having Jack White mash his cock on this instrument has never heard of the Dead Weather. Check out "Hang You From The Heavens", or their rendition of "Are Friends Electric?". Dean Fertita is a musical sorcerer.
Vox made some great instruments until 1970: the Vox Phantom & Teardrop guitars, the Vox Continental organ (first portable electric organ). Vox designed the Teardrop for Brian Jones. The Velvet Underground were the first US band to have Vox sponsorship. Brian Jones in New York visited Andy Warhol's Factory & introduced Nico to them. The other Velvets asked John Cale ('cause he's Welsh) to make friends with Brian Jones
@fazialpalmierung Even if you could....that doesn't mean ya should, you know?
There is novelty and value in the primitive way things were done 45 years ago. If that don't make sense to ya, have fun with your pedalboard and digital fun. The rest of us "get it." =)
@Whicol2 yeah... i would really enjoy a reissue... i mean you can fulfill the gap of being a loner guitarrist to do this bi-instrumental sound playing just one.... get your floor tomb and hi hat, and you're one man's band =)
I say, put a Vox wah and maybe a little chorus on the organ out-put + the guitar into like a Boogie Triple Rectifier = Metal Mayhem Who cares how it looks that gives me all kinds of ideas; looks are only important to people who confuse 'looks cool' with 'is cool' one is not a prerequisite of the other.
Holy shit, I had the very same thought immediately that jack white needs one of these.. This thing is amazing. Great in depth demo was very curious thanks!
It seems like an amazing idea, combining a phantom and the vox continental...just seems like there's too much going on, if that makes any sense though. Proper far out instrument!
AMAZING, I guess this guitar was brought by UFO to planet earth!! Where can I get one? Thanks for playing Interstellar Overdrive! Imagine Syd playing on this. Great! VOX rules.
@mothercubehead Thanks! Good luck finding one, they are super rare......and even if you did, I wouldn't reccomend paying thousands for it either. Cool factor is all they have going for them. Mine went to Japan when I sold it...
Does any body else think this has "Black Keys" written all over it?

Jones: No
