  • ~goosebumps~

  • About 4,000,000 times better than MJ, not even close to having a voice like TTD.

  • bapamumpa not only is the best version is just made better than what the song actually is becouse.his voice is supreme. his delivery is stupendous.the way he. present the song to you is sexi snsitive rythmic melodic and the variations make a very good song a proper gem.there are no if and buts.sometimes just there cannot be

  • absolutely the best version of this song a gem of retro sparkle i had it on repeat in my car stereo and silenced anyone who breathe the after that final note which is got to be one of the longest n beautiful inhistory i bowed to this supreme talent and ...started all over again

  • This is the best version of this song ever!!! He is so underated and under-appreciated!! He is a huge talent...and we should be hearing more from him!!

  • One of the greatest male voices ever. Shame its quite with him

  • tv one should do a episode of unsung of him and vanity-denise matthews.

  • I hate all the politics and bitchin on youtube.

This is good, but not the best version IN MY OPINION.

And in my opinion, no matter where it came from, this song is overlooked as one of the best Motown/R&B songs ever written and recorded.

  • @Bamaboompa Yes written by Smokey Robinson and originally sung by him. TTD used to date Smokey's daughter and wd sing this song to her. Smokey got a kick out of it b/c his daughter did not know her father had written and sung this song. He does an awesome job. Saw him in England and he is loved over there. Too bad he did not get the same recognition in the US. Awesome talent.

  • probably the best male voice of all time

  • TTD ain t Micheal. He is his own man and artist. Micheal was an all time great. Wouldn t pay 100 dollars to see him live and in person. Predictiable. But, I would pay to se and hear TTD.

  • @starr522 totally agree with you mate..

  • I love his raspy voice, the clarity of his words

  • @michaeledwardjones12 Geez. It's incredible that for such a mostly forgotten artist people keep bringing up the same old lies regarding him. His comments about the Beatles, which were said just to gain media attention, were made BEFORE his debut album came out. That debut album went on to sell millions of copies and made TTD a huge star for roughly two or so years. Again...all this happened AFTER the Beatles comment. Therefore that remark did not "ruin" his career.

  • @Hibbs4Prez And with that I will rightfully remove my comment and say a giant sorry to the wonderfully talented TTD!! :)

  • @michaeledwardjones12 you're the man!!!

  • stop talking bad about MJ and enjoy the song!!!!!!!!!!!! we all are better people because of Michael!

  • Love you so much....where are you xxxxx

  • hey everyone, terence trent darby has beautiful mellow calming music so y is it that you are discussing your opinions on MJ on his page. come on people, share the love man. don't you thnk theres enough hatred and fighting as it is. if you wanna discuss matters like that please do so privately, you are ruining this page.thank you.

  • i listen to a fuck load of artists - some of em are from way back - but ive always thought that t.t.d.. has the best voice ive ever heard

  • Take the MJ-molestation conversation elsewhere, losers.

  • Seriously just cause the Jackson 5 covered this track, why are you dragging the child molesting charges into this video...

  • Some people just refuse to see things for what they really are and are afraid to admit they've been duped by the media, money-hungry lawyers and human leeches so they would rather hold onto lies and stay in ignorance than to learn the truth and be set free! The truth shall set you free! The hundreds of millions of fans know the truth and will continue to pass on his legacy of love and hope for a better tomorrow!

  • @MyDestinyin2012 Maybe you've been duped. You cannot prove he was innocent. Courts are infallible. No one can prove his guilt or innocence except for the people that were there. Obviously, that includes me AND you. I don't need to be set free by the truth, and for you to say that is very arrogant. You obviously don't respect anyone's opinion that is different than yours. If you can't tell by now, I can easily turn everything around that you say to me and put it on you, and it's just as fair.

  • fuckin' VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always impresses me!

  • This guy is an amazing talent - and just SO under-rated. He is very much his own man which is probably why he does not get the recognition he richly deserves. The music world's loss..........and You Tube followers gain for sure!

  • Had a huge crush on him....yes I did!

  • I remember hearing this guy say in the 80s that he was better than Michael Jackson and Prince. Time has proven otherwise. And considering an 11 year old Michael Jackson out sung him on this song I think it might have been a bit arrogant to say you're better than MJ. That kind of attitude might've been the reason he didn't stay around in a relevant way.

  • @WindItDown Your opinion. Michael Jackson was a pedophile and he's dead now. TTD is neither, obviously.

  • @BIoodRedBIood Yeah, only his career is dead. Another thing he doesn't share with Michael Jackson, being a legend. Joking aside. MJ wasn't a pedophile, he A) was found not guilty and B) the accusers came out and said they were lying. Not an opinion...fact. Also, way to respond to an opinion with vicious and ugly diatribe. Great discourse. Dinner table discussion must be wonderful with you. It is clear I'm screwing around and making a joke, right?

  • @BIoodRedBIood #1) Hmmm.... yes, courts are infallible - just ask OJ. #2) Did Terence really say that? Are you sure? It could easily be something that was created from the media - just ask Michael Jackson about that. But if he did, so what? How long ago was that? Let's go back 20 years and see what you have said. #3) Again, your opinion about Michael's version of the song. Whatever. I disagree, so who's right and who's wrong? #4) Michael paid MILLIONS in hush money. FACT. Dismissed. Cheers. :)

  • @BIoodRedBIood Michael DID NOT PAY the Chandlers, it was his EPIC insurance which paid off the accuser to settle the CIVIL CASE so they can all proceed to the Criminal case which means fighting WITH evidence not hearsay. The judge REFUSED to hear a Criminal Case before the civil case was through. The settlement documents clearly state that it was settlement for negligence (not molestation) and that the prosecution (Chandlers) ARE ALLOWED to pursue the criminal case afterwards against Jackson.

  • @BIoodRedBIood (cont'd 1) It was settled for $15M USD The settlement DID NOT SILENCE ANYONE because filing a criminal case is heavier and entails putting the culprit in jail. Instead of pursuing a criminal case, the Chandlers ATE THE MONEY and RAN. Why? Coz LAPD and the Chandlers DID NOT HAVE ANY SINGLE EVIDENCE against Michael apart from Jordan's testimony WHICH HE MADE while he was drugged by his own father with Sodium Amytal--a hypnotic drug. Jordan refused to lie after.

  • @BIoodRedBIood (cont'd 2) Michael Jackson DID NOT PAY this ****** family. He had a career insurance which is for being a contract artist of EPIC RECORDS, and his contract that time was for $100 MILLION DOLLARS. He had obligations for EPic Records and going thru this CIVIL CASE would mean Epic could lose 100M and thats why they stepped in to settle the case for Jackson at $15M which compared to losing 100M is small for EPIC.

  • @BIoodRedBIood (cont'd 3) Now, if you check the leaked Settlement documents, the settlement WAS NOT for MOLESTATION. It was for NEGLECT and the settlement documents specifically state that the CHANDLERS ARE ALLOWED TO FILE A CRIMINAL CASE after the civil case is settled. That means that settlement DID NOT SILENCE anyone. Now the Chandlers chose to eat the money and run, why so? Because CRIMINAL CASES UNLIKE CIVIL CASES requires CONCRETE EVIDENCE WITNESSES which the Chandlers did NOT HAVE.

  • @BIoodRedBIood (cont'd 4) There was a ZERO match with the penis identification photos, NO witnesses, and ZERO EVIDENCE even after LAPD ransacked Neverland. You can sue anybody for negligence (and that's what the Chandlers sued for). You can sue for as something as simple as leaving a child unattended near a stove and that could be considered negligence. He was sued for negligence not molestation b/c the prosecutors (accusers) knew Molestation was a serious charge. It was all for fucking money!

  • @BIoodRedBIood (cont'd 5) MJ was on tour and Epic records had insurance on him during that tour and EPIC records would rather pay 15 mil so MJ can continue his tour and continue making money... so it was EPIC who fucked him up not MJ. The Insurance co/Record label can go over the artist and do what it feels is in the best interest of the artist (even though it wasn't in this case) without getting consent from the artist. That's why MJ pleaded with people to seek out the truth b/c the media lied!

  • @MyDestinyin2012 SO many inaccuracies in your statements, I don't know where to begin, so I won't. Other than to say there was a second family he paid millions of dollars to keep quiet. :)

Michael was a talented performer who had an abusive father and a mother who enabled the abusive father. He had a sad life, it's true. He also surrounded himself with people who took advantage of him later in his career. Also unfortunate. You cannot say with certainty that he wasn't a pedophile. Carry on.

  • @BIoodRedBIood Yeah just like you can't say with certainty that he was, which you are obviously doing. You don't have concrete proof that he was a pedophile. Yet, there are facts that prove he never touched that damn boy. It was all for money. However, it was proven that the boy's father was physically abusive to the son n mother...that's why she left him. The father was also piss that MJ wouldn't hand over his wack ass screenplay to Steven Spielberg... the only second family is the Arviso's.

  • @BIoodRedBIood That's exactly why Jordan Chandler stopped speaking to his father after all this went down, he was estranged from his father. The father often got plastic surgery to change the appearance of his face and got struck with a dibilitating form of cancer, Karma is a bitch... 5 months after MJ died, the father committed suicide by shooting himself...The Arvisos moved to Georgia and changed their last names. The mother got arrested for money fraud...AGAIN...

  • @MyDestinyin2012 There's no changing my mind, and there's no changing yours. I understand and respect your opinion. MJ has millions of fans, and my opinion on the matter shouldn't have anything to do with that. The only problem I have is when I read comments from people who think he was innocent, accusing those who didn't think he was innocent of having some kind of agenda or it being due to some lack of understanding on their part. I've had many conversations about this....

  • @BIoodRedBIood Fine, it's one thing to think he's guilty, but it's another thing to have actual proof that shows he's indeed guilty. All the stuff I read were actual court documents from the trials, which proved he was innocent. Until U have court documents that proved he was guilty, then he's innocent. U r going by what the media said n lies told 4 money. I read the actual court documents, just point me to court documents which proved he was guilty of child molestation n I will gladly shut up!

  • @BIoodRedBIood ... and have put much thought into my feelings about him and why I feel the way I do, just as I'm sure you have. But it isn't because I have some inability to see things for how they really are. I could just as easily say the same thing about you and everyone else who thinks he's innocent, but again, I understand that he has fans who still support him after his death.

  • @BIoodRedBIood Looks like you were wrong according the facts. Ya burnt. Also, my comments were in jest. Yours were made out of ugliness. Good luck with that personality. Also, let's go back 20 years and see what I said. It was probably, "I love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." I was 12. So this point makes a lot of sense. This worked out for you. Glad you know the difference between fact and fiction. Also, writing in call caps makes things factually accurate. Sayonara, sucka.

  • @WindItDown Thank you!

  • @WindItDown Exactly!

  • Dit word MIJN begravenis nummer!

Helemaal te gek, KIppevel krijg ik ervan!!!!

  • Dit word MIJN begravenis nummer!

Helemaal te gek KIppevel krijg ik ervan!!!!

  • Awesome! :)

  • TTD took a classic song and made it his own.Not too many people could do that. I think this version is just utterly amazing. My hat is off to You Sir. Take a bow!!

  • few covers are as gtood as the original. Bravo

  • This guy is so underrated its not true. What a voice. The kids of today should just take a listen ?

Long may you live, your music will live forever...across the astro-universe

  • I play his CD in my car. I would love to see him in concert! What an amazing voice!

  • @MsRosemarie1369 And counting it's up to us to educate others

  • Just awesome!!Mah fren Frank sang all his backin vocals...and ah 'discovered' him before he 'hit' here in England...ah went juss to see him when he was supporting Simply Red and 75% of the audience were all still comin in and not paying any attention...and ah sat in the front row and cried freely when he sang 'Wonderful World',an there aint many peeps who can have THAT effect on meh!!Ah LEFT when Simply Red came on...went upstairs backstage to hang wiv him,he's the BEST!!

  • Yeah, BUDDY!!!

  • One of my fav songs

  • c'mon 1mill views!!!!

  • i din like it

  • Is he still touring? I love this stuff.

  • Yes and he still has it! have always loved his voice and songs

  • Apart from MJ no one sings this better!!!!!

  • No one better alive than Terence Trent, Sananda Maitreya, whatever he chooses to call himself, he'll still be alone as the best most versatile vocal stylist on the planet. I have all his albums and it's ridiculous how he can change his swag from rough soul and rock, to an authentic aria quality vocal.

  • great, great music you seem to touch the inner core and your voice is so unique love it, my fav's are this one and holding onto you .words just cant explain.I will listen for many many years to come and my children will listen to this as I always have it on with them as well. BJ

  • Incredible song - well overlooked soul master, yes!

  • I think the jackson five sung it in the early 1960s ; jade 4091

    love the song

  • I love soulful .. oldies, motown music .. oooh la la ( by the way , thats a Rod Stewert song).

  • @jade4091 Who's loving you is written by Smokey Robinson and indeed also done by the Jackson Five...

  • There's something indigo about his eyes and persona that has something to do with his vocal brilliance and quirkiness.

  • so underrated it hurts

  • Im tryin to find a song of Terence Trent, I cant think of the name but he sings it Acapala, and I cant find, can anyone help me, Love his music and its one of my favourites

  • @MsKotiro I think you mean ´as yet untitled´ from the ´introducing the hardline´~album.

  • @MsKotiro You trying to find "AS YET UNTITLED" , song's name from the album "INTRODUCING THE HARDLINE ACCORDING TO". Be enjoy it. It's really nice performance.

  • tingling, tingling yea this is the biz, fab

  • > ONLY SMOKEY CAN DO THIS SONG ANY JUSTICES BECAUSE HE MADE IT A

    MASTERPIECE FOR YESTERDAY & TODAY > PRICELESS > PEACE B 2 U <

  • this version and the version of jackson 5 are my favorites.... this song is so beautiful

  • This guy is so under rated.

  • So underrated!!! Love him and his beauty!

  • my fav version ever my mum loves this xx

  • It is such a sad sad thing he was over looked. but most people have a "herd mentality". I am one of th few when ppl are running to the right, i turn left. I dontlet "society" dictate to me what good or not good.. this guy is FREAKIG AWESOME. He's even better JUST becasue he wouldnt go with the " POPUAR" croud I love this man

  • @MsJadedangel He wasn't overlooked at all. It was just that his second album was just not good and the rest 'average'.

  • @MsJadedangel I was able to see him in San Diego years ago. He was incredible. I saw him with UB40 and Tears for Fears and Terence put on the most passionate show of them all. Just sorry that i didn't know then what I know now.

  • He was and still is an over looked artist his voice is so original and his style is his own. Just happy to still be able to enjoy his music old or new.

  • awsome

  • All the great black singers have made an effort with this, and they are all brill, but this is the most spine-tingling, thrill making version EVER!!!

  • its time for change let the voice overcome the rubbish we hear today. TTD is the king of soulful vocals.

  • This guy really spanks those vocal chords ;-D

  • For Mrs C, come on and take it girl, Dr P

  • Definitely the best cover of Smokey song!

  • why did he change his name?...

  • This dude sings HARD.....

  • YUM!!! ;o)

  • He's one of the best singers in the world.I still listen to this cd to this day and he is more talented than the beatles, when it comes to his voice and just as talented as prince.Keep making great music

  • This is definately the best singer of the previous century. I had the chance to see him live once, and it was all that it lived up to be and more. Terrence has it all. Stage Presence, a golden throat and a technique to make professional singers ashamed of themselves.

  • there are lots of americans who recognize ttd for the genius that he was. he was 'the' mj or prince w/o the commercial b.s. his stories are timeless and his artistry will not fade. had a chance to listen to him in concert when he turned evrythng off incl mikes. and he just sang, if you had one hair of emotion- it was gonna touch u 4 life. and his dancing most overlooked, just awesome. in short, he was just bad mf'er. how else is someone gonna do a smokey song and hold it down- wow!!!!!

  • i agree. he's a genius. im a long-time michael jackson lover, but he has also something that makes me crazy!!!

  • a true poet ,in voice and lyrics

  • this is a cover of michael jackson :)

  • Is amazing how overlooked is this guy,,,defenetely some people just ''Dont have it'..destiny is cruel sometimes...he even changed his artistic name and America has not the capability of enjoy this MASTER of the soul....That just tell me something that makes me really happy...we the 24,633 viewers of this video are very special people.....Sananda YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!

  • @reeh1969 Werd.

  • @reeh1969 I agree with you 100%.

  • @reeh1969 We are now 86.781 very special people :-)

  • @reeh1969 I heard of this man over in England. He is big there. England is one of the countries who are really in love with black music. A lot got famous off black musicians songs, like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones,( The Marvellettes, Otis Redding,) Smokey wrote this song originally and sang it.

  • sheet didnt kno he looked like that

    you the meanest Bro'.

  • He's in Italy now, apparently..... he did vocals on a great house track by Ben Watt

  • I was on he´s only concert in cologne since ´93

  • Hope that he makes a comeback to the U

SA SINCE WE LOST MICHAEL, HE CAN DO IT

  • Such a shame he faded from the limelight. Who didnt have The Hardline in the 80s ? Just shows you how fickle the music industry is. Outstanding talent mixed with great style and looks . Thanks for all the superb tracks, lets hope the world wakes up to Sananda again.

  • @enzocat22

Agreed. His music is amazing. Especially his song "Holding on to you" - beautiful written lyrics, with amazing vocals and fantastic guitar.

  • He is really a master..and so overlooked.

  • He really lets ripppp!!!! GREATTTTT!!!!!!

  • He is the epitome of a brilliant singer...his live voice is just as amazing as his recorded voice. Thank you for the 1000 chills that have rippled across my flesh listening to you sing.

  • @robnsincity you are so true this guy in my opinion is amazing

  • I wish I had this much soul. I believe everything he sings! Miss him here in the states.

  • Soberbio. Único. Inigualable, sin duda.

Una de las mejores voces negras del panorama soul.

  • pure fantastic amazing cover he is the best what a voice what happened to such a talent

  • How many men have wished they had never ever made her cry..........

  • Guilty

  • Impressive that you know, remember, are sorry, and that this makes you think of her,,,,,

  • Painfully so. Live and learn. : )

  • Very Impressive I have heard many people do this song but after Micheal's version this is probably a close second. Very soulful and authentic just a great perfomance.

  • yeah, I swear, 20 years later this is still my favorite song from that album. And to this day I still marvel at the fact that he did not become the next Stevie Wonder, but you never know do you ... he had real talent. I dont' know what happened.

  • dude very popular in europe he had to get away from the usa to get respect...

  • he pissed people off unfortunately. i miss him a lot. he was insanely talened. i guess he still is, but is just respected more in europe than here.

  • dude is truly awesome he is like prince in alot of ways and in some ways he isnt....lol

  • bravo sananda cioa from belgium

  • still one of the best singers the world ever seen still one of the singers with the biggest heart i loved this man since day 1 and i still do

  • Love him dearly...that voice. Those eyes. Lips. Brilliant poetry.

  • Isn't it funny how Sananda (Terence) played it totally real, totally authentic from day one (making amazing music with real talent) and yet today, we have the entire nation focused on whether or not an idiot like Britney Spears can make a comeback. We were always more interested in her failures than this amazing singer's successes. Why does this nation allow marketing to direct its attention away from talent, genius and musicianship for the sake of worthless fakes?

  • (Response to Berus7's statement)

Cause we are a bunch of moorons!!!

    You are so right!!

Can u run for public office and use this statement as your plattform? I'll vote for you!! (wink)

  • Can't count how many times I've listened to this version of the song over the past two decades. Pure perfection.

  • heard him sing it live/accapella in Glasgow. Stunning

  • awesome performance, awesome song! i love terence's version!

  • absolutely wonderful! awesome musical performance! peace!!

  • Love this one too. He does it complete justice and then some!

  • Always loved this song. :)
