Roger plays awesome against andy....Roddick gets undue criticism.....two sets at 7-5 is not an ass whipping. but utilmatley roger is a better player and a better athlete. But for Roddick far less natural talent , he brings it on an challenges federer and deserves credit for that. They have had MANY MANY great competitive matches with the same result roger always having that final amazing shot. And for those detractors, yes there have been matches that were thorough spankings as well....
You guys don't know anything about tennis okay that guy who said your grandfather does a stronger forehand just shut up he can't I bet you guys are just jealous of roddick because he is a pro I bet all you guys insulting roddick I bet you that you can hit the ball in the court like 4 times a match that's why u guys are insulting roddick cause you suck you absolutely suck I bet you guys run 30 cm you would be puffed out
I think whether Roger or Andy wins, it doesn't matter. Even if Roger won most matches, Andy's records is not easy to copy. There was a long time when Andy didn't won any important medal, he still stays in Top 10. Rafa and Novak plus Andy Murray were pop-out. Andy Roddick still keeps in Top 10. The way he serve never change, and the way he fire a forehand. I actually like Andy even if he might be darker compares to others.
this has to be the 2nd most dominant mind fucking match up in the current era,the first is the clear no1 with nadal and federer(nadal rapeing federer).this match is 2 big servers,one is average from the baseline ,the other has the best forehand ever seen in the game,it is a no contest.it is clear A-rod isnt the same player after that heart breaking wimbledon loss,but he is by far and away the funniest most charasmatic player currently so i hope he doesnt retire after next year,but i doubt it
I love all the roddick haters on here. If you got your clock cleaned by a man 21 out of 23 times you played, and he cost you Slam titles, you might have a mental block and a lack of confidence too.
Roddick can't hit winners... He uses to much top spin, and isnt able to hit flat.. This is not the first mach i wach from roddick, and i always see 5 or less winners from roddick..
andy started to loosen up, from the middle of the 2nd to the 3rd set, he really need´s to be agressive, from the start of the match, to have any chance..
@forder07 what a lame excuse! he's lost in 2004 to Johansson at the USO;Muller at the USO in 2005; Baghdatis in Australia in 2006;(I'll spare you Roddick losing to Murray at Wimbledon in 2006 and Gasquet in 2007); Kohlschreiber in 2008 in Australia;Tipsarevic at Wimbledon;Djokovic at the USO;(I'll spare you Roddick losing to Monfils at the FO in 2009);Isner at the USO in 2009;2010:Cilic in Australian;Lu at Wimbledon;Tupsarevic at the USO;2011 to Wawrinka in Australia.
i dont even like roddick so im not excusing anything for him i think hes shit, its just the other guy "aridiculusbear" is right and roddick would probably have a couple more grand slam titles to his name if it wasnt for federer.
@timafi Well let's look at this Baghdatis made the Final that's not so HORRIBLE, Losing to Djokovic in 2008 at the US Open was horrible? Djokovic won the Aussie Open that year, Cilic made the SF of the Aussie Open that year and took a set off of Murray! Roddick is horrible on the clay did we even expect him to beat Monfils? That leaves him with 8 terrible losses at GS. Let's look at it this way he has lost in 9 GS QF, 5 GS SF, and 4 GS F. He won the 2003 USO. I'd say thats very good. He is a HOF
@Jake1985Nazar I guess the tennis gods were not so kind to him after helping him through the 2003 USO, where he shouldn't have even been in the final, lol. He was down 2 sets, he was down a match point, and was completely outplayed the first three sets until some goons in the crowd started yelling in between points, which distracted Nalbandian. I don't know if Roddick never deserved a slam, but the only one he did win he was extremely lucky.
@davd1986 That happens to almost EVERY player at one point and Roddick was not lucky, Nalby should have kept his concentration which he was not able too do. After Roddick won that third set Nalbandian lost it and you can not at all blame Andy for that. Every player gets a break at one point you NEED luck to win sometimes and maybe Andy got a slice of it but i would say he deserves his 2003 USO.
@Jake1985Nazar You just said Roddick wasn't lucky, then you say every player gets a break at one point you NEED luck to win sometimes. Anyway, when you are down 2-0 and have a match point against you in the third set and you win the match, you are lucky, no matter what happened in the 4th and 5th sets. Roddick played really well that whole year, he deserved the #1 ranking, but he didn't deserve that match.
@davd1986 But not lucky i ment the fact he really did truly deserve it. How did he not deserve that match? That's like saying Djokovic did not deserve to beat Federer at the USO 2011, or Tsonga did not deserve to beat Fed at Wimby, Agassi did not deserve his French when he beat Medvedev. He deserved it becuase Nalby could not finish him off. It's not Andy's fault. He deserved the #1 ranking, the match, and the tourney. Everything he did leading up to that and then at the USO he deserved that GS.
@Jake1985Nazar He was getting outplayed for 3 sets and was facing a match point. When someone is playing that much better than you, the person deserved to win. Roddick played well in sets 4 and 5, but Nalbandian deserved that match. End of story. I don't know what's so hard to understand. Another thing is the crowd got involved and the umpire did nothing in that match, totally changing the complexion and the flow. I didn't watch the Agassi match, so can't comment.

@Jake1985Nazar The other two matches were interesting, because neither Tsonga nor Djokovic gave up on the match. Even though they were down 2-0, they were playing pretty well actually, especially Tsonga. That match was pretty high quality tennis, and all it was was a couple of points here or there. Tsonga only needed one break per set. Both guys served big and it was sort of an old school grass tennis match. None of the grinding tennis/waiting for your opponent to miss sort of deal.

Andy isn't within the top 3 best players, but I take back my previous statement; I think Roddick has it in him to play some more high-level tennis.

Federer had Roddick on a string in that 1st set. Brutal stuff...

@AlphaDraconis7 you can only feel bad for the guy. He has lost to federer at the end of sooooo many grand slams.
aridiculusbear 1 year ago
@aridiculusbear
he hasn't lost to ONLY federer in the slams. i recall several other players beating him..like Isner, Cilic and Tipsarevic.
AlphaDraconis7 1 year ago
@AlphaDraconis7
but he has lost to fed in slams a lot, 8 times in total (1 quarter-final, 3 semi-finals and 4 finals).
he could have easily won a few more slams had it not been for fed, especially wimbledon.
