Why make a military propaganda video? When you can make an economic truth video, because clearly. Scandinavia is one of the few areas in the entire fucking world where the leaders are even remotely capable to handle money with any real coherent thoughts.
Regarding a few of the posted comments; It is absolutely absurd to state, imagine, or think that any nation within the western alliances would for whatever reason be a threat to any Nordic country. The simple fact is that there is NO REASON! we have more in common then one could imagine, besides everyone I know love Swede's, Dane's, Fin's, & Norwegians, especially me.
Interesting there's talk about an alliance now. Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark should have formed a defense alliance a hundred years ago; maybe the Nazis would have thought twice about invading Norway & Denmark. The simple fact is that it just makes sense. Regarding security threats; IMHO I believe threats to the NORDIC countries are more so internal rather then external. Bring one of US aircraft carriers ner coast and we sink it.. Ive heard that Finnish Navy missiles can fly just few metres above water and not choose the first ship but choose the biggest (like aircraft carrier) and hit it.. you cant see that missile or know that its even been launched. + Viking ships are small and powerful.

@JFM94 Scandinavian defence alliance would be one the biggest in the world, over million soldiers and 500+ aircraft and 100+ ships, so if you want to bring ur us navy near cost, u are getting owned :) Aircraft carriers are too big to operate here, + submarines would sunk them.
@JFM94 And one more thing, our air force pilots are better trained, much better trained. in 1999 there was a exercise with Finnish Air force and US Air force, Us air force had 4 F-16 vs our training aircraft Bae Hawk. We got no losses against F-16's. Imagine F-18's, Gripens or F-16's

The Chinese navy sub pulled the same trick on the US navy, I don't know if the problem is with the US equipment or with their users :D The thing is that USA don't even need carriers, as it has airbases in Netherlands, Baltic countries etc...Sweden is surrounded by US air superiority.
I don't think that EU would allow US military action on it's soil though, it'd order Eurocorps to attack US troops and things would get very, very hairy.
@OnlyLifeMatters Our defensive capabilities are based on necessity, not just piling on for for show, we do have many other things to use our funds for, such as the welfare of our people, not all have these priorities... right? This shows. Should additional "force" be required we could upscale drasticly in a relatively short time, but why do so just because we can? I will leave you with this thought.

@OnlyLifeMatters Seeing as this talk is purely academic and 'conventional' war between small and large nations only can(in the long run) have one result. I would like to remind you that we are about the same in population(Denmark has a slightly higher population i belive), and the size of our armies is about the same(not counting the troops we stationed in warzones). That being said warfare is fluid and not constant, not enough to rack up numbers, so many other factors to consider.
@DanVet95 If all Nordic countries pooled their armies, maybe then larger armed entities would have some problems in invasion...though I'm having hard time myself imagining why anyone would invade Nordic world. Russia is a pretty strong candidate, but even their assault seems rather...nah. Nordic countries are after all either in EU or in NATO, who'd dare to attack us?

That's what you are saying. It's actually very morbid to declare that only battles with extremely high dead rate is making wars. @jross692 That's not true at all. By todays standards our wars have been huge. Compare them for example to Iraq's or Afghanistan war. During the WW2, there wasn't many bigger battles than Finland was having against Soviet Union at Tali-Ihantala. More than 200 000 men were on guns in this single battle. That's not war to you?

I mean we lost casualties like that in our Civil War which, in case you dont know, was in the early 1860's. And in the middle east we arent having a war. Did I ever say it was? USSR also lost 2450 tanks + 1500 were lost because of technical failuries. 300 planes + 106 needed severe repairs + 191 were lost because of technical failuries.

If you don't know anything about that war, I should you open a book. Then you should also read a little about Continuation and Lapland War. @jross692 Defensive? Not really. If you're refering to the Danish ships - it is the one of the most advanced LCS of the day. The US made some silly attemt to make their own LCS that could be independent and cheap with good firepower. But they end up with one of the most expensive ships in the fleet with low firepower and needs a entire fleet to back it up.

@cfbta30 I disagree. Russia was grabbing up every country it could during its 1944-45 counter-blitz (as I like to call it) across Europe. The Russians would have likely invaded Sweden shortly after conquering Finland. Even if they did not, the Allies would have treated the Swedes fairly harshly. I think it was most wise for Sweden to not piss off Germany, Finland, or Russia.
@jpheitman My thought is essentially that if the scandinavian countries had collaborated with hitler the resulting force would magnify hitlers miliary power and thus hopefully allow a successful invasion of soviet russia. Sweden alone had a man power of 800,000. Hitler could have done wonders with 800,000 extra men, not even considering the possible of incorporating the danish and norweigan forces into this.
@tupakki They kicked Russia's ass during the Winter War of 1940, but when the Russians came back in 1944-45, they pretty much rolled over Finland. Of all the Nordic countries, Finland was probably the most able to defend itself. Either that, or the luckiest of those that did.

Finland had to make the peace, which it would have wanted earlier but USSR demands were too high. USA, UK and other allied countries demanded Finland to accept the peace, no matter what Finland loose. That was not an option for Finland. After the war was difficult time, Finland had to adapt and not to get occupied. It was called the time of danger.

Bring one of US aircraft carriers ner coast and we sink it.. Ive heard that Finnish Navy missiles can fly just few metres above water and not choose the first ship but choose the biggest (like aircraft carrier) and hit it.. you cant see that missile or know that its even been launched. + Viking ships are small and powerful.

The Chinese navy sub pulled the same trick on the US navy, I don't know if the problem is with the US equipment or with their users :D The thing is that USA don't even need carriers, as it has airbases in Netherlands, Baltic countries etc...Sweden is surrounded by US air superiority.
I don't think that EU would allow US military action on it's soil though, it'd order Eurocorps to attack US troops and things would get very, very hairy.

This shows. Should additional "force" be required we could upscale drasticly in a relatively short time, but why do so just because we can? I will leave you with this thought.

@OnlyLifeMatters Seeing as this talk is purely academic and 'conventional' war between small and large nations only can(in the long run) have one result. I would like to remind you that we are about the same in population(Denmark has a slightly higher population i belive), and the size of our armies is about the same(not counting the troops we stationed in warzones). That being said warfare is fluid and not constant, not enough to rack up numbers, so many other factors to consider.

Russia is a pretty strong candidate, but even their assault seems rather...nah. Nordic countries are after all either in EU or in NATO, who'd dare to attack us?

That's what you are saying. It's actually very morbid to declare that only battles with extremely high dead rate is making wars. During the WW2, there wasn't many bigger battles than Finland was having against Soviet Union at Tali-Ihantala. More than 200 000 men were on guns in this single battle. That's not war to you?

I mean we lost casualties like that in our Civil War which, in case you dont know, was in the early 1860's. And in the middle east we arent having a war. Did I ever say it was? The gov't calls it a war to boost moral. Noone over here really considers it a war. Its more like a long game of hide and seek. And I am very aware of that statement.

I can't remember that there would have been any battles where soldier losses would have been higher than 26.000. Can you? I don't have the data but I am sure you do. USSR lost 126 875 men as KIA, 71 214 WIA, 39 269 MIA, 16 292 DOW + other reasons as frozen. Source: Materialy rossiisko-finljandski simpoziumov istorikov. Moskva, 2006 p. 412. USSR also lost 2450 tanks + 1500 were lost because of technical failuries. 300 planes + 106 needed severe repairs + 191 were lost because of technical failuries.

During the Winter War, USSR were fighting only against Finland when Nazi Germany was ally of Soviet Union. You doesn't seem to know anything about Finland or Nordic countries. If you don't know anything about that war, I should you open a book. Then you should also read a little about Continuation and Lapland War. After that, come back and let see what you are going to say then. You can bring US Marines to these condititions that we have here. How many of them can really use skis? Are they good in coldness? I doubt.

@jross692 Defensive? Not really. If you're refering to the Danish ships - it is the one of the most advanced LCS of the day. The US made some silly attemt to make their own LCS that could be independent and cheap with good firepower. But they end up with one of the most expensive ships in the fleet with low firepower and needs a entire fleet to back it up.

@wikingww nope sorry man both of you are wrong, Iceland originally Iceland ;) people who moved away from norway to Iceland, established a Commonwealth and a nation and in 1100-1200 made a deal with Norway and united then when Norway went under Denmark 100s of years later we went under denmark, then when norway declared independance we were still under denmark, until 1944 :)

@cfbta30 I disagree. Russia was grabbing up every country it could during its 1944-45 counter-blitz (as I like to call it) across Europe. The Russians would have likely invaded Sweden shortly after conquering Finland. Even if they did not, the Allies would have treated the Swedes fairly harshly. I think it was most wise for Sweden to not piss off Germany, Finland, or Russia.

@jpheitman My thought is essentially that if the scandinavian countries had collaborated with hitler the resulting force would magnify hitlers miliary power and thus hopefully allow a successful invasion of soviet russia. Sweden alone had a man power of 800,000. Hitler could have done wonders with 800,000 extra men, not even considering the possible of incorporating the danish and norweigan forces into this.

@tupakki They kicked Russia's ass during the Winter War of 1940, but when the Russians came back in 1944-45, they pretty much rolled over Finland. Of all the Nordic countries, Finland was probably the most able to defend itself. Either that, or the luckiest of those that did.

Finnish troops stopped soviet advances on every fronts. Sure Soviet Union had success at first in summer 1944 because finnish troops weren't ready for major operation by Soviet Union. Everything changed after a while. If you want details, I can put this on details as well. Tell to me which Soviet troops (units, armies) were successful?

Finland had to make the peace, which it would have wanted earlier but USSR demands were too high. USA, UK and other allied countries demanded Finland to accept the peace, no matter what Finland loose. That was not an option for Finland. After the war was difficult time, Finland had to adapt and not to get occupied. It was called the time of danger.

@Agrikultur I said we had to make the peace and give some land. That's why it sucked. Germany collapsed and didn't cause the necessary damage to USSR for better peace negotiations for us. We almost too collapsed and thus weren't in position for a better peace treaty.
And we had to swallow the harsh peace treaty.

Look, the truth is, all we want is a society were we can be ourselves, our people, and not have to deal with immigrants, especially the religious extremists and the bastards who refuse to respect our cultures. I understand the Nazi ideology perfectly. The goal was to create an Idyllic society, where the preferences of breeding of intelligent Germanic, and other European groups was encouraged strongly, and the breeding of the infirm was to be outlawed. Also, the expulsion of the jewish people was desired. Jews are the Muslims of the 1940's. The only crime of the nazis was to complete this goal in an economically and scientifically viable manner. sometimes u just gotta get it done

Scandinavia is so bad ass, my parents are from Sweden...I just hope that all the Nordic countries can take control of the immigration problem and save Scandinavia.....My grandfather before he died (last year) he said "it is time for Swedes to put Political Correctness aside, and pick up the sword".

Just to clarify: the Finnish and the Hungarian are the only NOT indo-european languages of Europe.
Estonian is a baltic language, like lithuanian.
Sweden, Norway and Finland are part of European history at least since tenth century circa.
