i'm super confused as to how this is animal abuse...a lot of dogs do this and howling/noise making is how they communicate. my pug doesn't sing sadly...but she'll sit by me and "chat" she makes small grumble noises like she's trying to form words...is that abuse too? people either don't know what actuall mistreatment is or they're plain idiots.

To anyone who thinks this is some form of animal cruelty, shut up. I own two pugs. IF the pug was in pain/discomfort/annoyed/etc, it would be trying to escape by throwing its weight around and failing that, it would bite and scratch its way out. It's doing NEITHER! Nor is the dog being hurt, in any way, by the way it's being held (you can wrap your hand around MOST pugs' stomachs). Pugs are TOY class dogs and can be held this way safely! It's simply "singing/howling" with its "pack leader"

Dogs will let you know immediately if they're in pain by various means, inlcuding "yelping" which if you never had a dog before you might confuse with a howl, except the tone of a yelp is distinct, and yelps are short not drawn out as in a howl.
