Mr. Salestrom.....I am compelled to share with you the intense positive impact this song has had on me.I have shared it with several young people in my life, and helped us discuss healthy alternative choices for there lives...your choice of words is exceptional in an etherial way...to you sir I am grateful.........Peace to you
Superb, thanks for setting this video to this gorgeous song I first heard years ago. This summer (2011) I learned for the first time that there are 2000+ year old bristlecones in Colorado; then found and visited some of them -- not trivial!
My aunt who lives in Dillon, Colorado, introduced me to this singer. Thank you so much for uploading this video. The Bristlecone pines in Colorado are amazing indeed, and it's a very spiritual place, if you're that kind of person.
I stumbled upon this by accident, having previously heard of Hugh Prestwood songs but not this one; neither had I heard of Jim Salestrom. I love everything about this. The arrangement is so compelling, with the waltz tempo and the archaic harpsichord feel to the guitar. It's really special. I love it.
This is a *stunnng* video. I don't think the creator gets enough credit, really. For something of this power, this video should have 200,000 views by now. What's new, though? Was it that long-haired Palestinian that said, "Let the dead bury their own dead." ?
I first saw Jim Salestrom sing this song in a park in Palisade, Colorado, 18 years ago and it was a spiritual experience. I am working on a video of his song "Grateful" and hope to have it posted here soon. Joy, -JSB
@jsbyrom You are most kind. Of course I too wish more people viewed my works. They are quite varied. Though my favorites are the ones with a spiritual message, I enjoy them all and each creation is unique in its own way. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Be sure and let me know when you've completed your video of Salestrom's "Grateful."
@merhlin . I've watched this video 4 more times in 18 hours and sent the link to numerous friends. Your so-carefully chosen images are as powerful as the words of this amazing song. Joy, -JSB
Every time I hear this song / poem of epic proportion, something inside of me die
Perhaps this is why it is so mournful and magical…
Mournful because of the lament we must all pass, searching for something to give meaning to our lives
Magical because life finds a way to continue on, in the nature and wisdom of something so old, enduring and one with of the essence this wonderful, old earth we are all apart of
Thank you. This was beautiful...a beautiful experience to watch and listen. I had heard of these trees before but after seeing this I now want to go see them. I think I might burst into tears at the sheer awe of it.
Loved this song the first time I heard it. I put seeing the tree on my bucket list then as I had never heard of the tree, or the song before. I surely hope to see it before I take up the rockin chair, or the dirt nap. Thank you.
@militiaguy Thank you for watching. I didn't know the song either until about a year and a half ago. Glad you liked it. Love that expression, "dirt nap."
I love this song and the awsome pictures you have added! Truely a great rendition of a beautiful song from my favorite song writer, Hugh Prestwood. If only the Bristlecone Pines could tell us all they have seen in the past 5000 years. I would also love to hear Hugh Prestwood sing this himself.
Love this song...I have never heard it before. It sure says a lot about life. The thought that you would return to the earth and find yourself part of this old but beautiful tree is, in some strange way, is very comforting. Thanks for posting it here for me to find.

This epic song/poem make me cry inside ever time I hear it's mournful magic egress
Mournful for its lament at the passing of life.
Magic for its find a way to live on through nature and wisdom, of yet older beings of this wonderful earth.

TO ME TREE IS A REPRESENTATION OF ALL THAT NATURE CAN BE TO A BEING, ALL BEINGS
A SHELTER AGAINST COLD WINDS DEEP SNOW BURNING SUN
A FRIEND GIVING POSITIVE ENERGY WHEN YOU EMBRACE IT AND HOLD ON TO
A HEALING POWER THAT GOES TO YOU THROUGH TOUCH, EMBRACE
JUST DO IT ALL: TOUCH, EMBRACE, HOLD ON TO IT
