  • I hiked every inch of every trail of that park back in the late 80s/early 90s. Even did some off-trail navigation. Documented all the loblolly pines taken down by Hurricane Hugo right after it happened (the boardwalk trail was decimated, but I made the entire route). Reported a bobcat sighting on another occasion...the ranger didn't believe me.

  • @onailag Hey~ how do you think if we go there in winter time? will the wildlife be more visible?

  • @URCHINWANG221 I think that visiting in winter would be the preferable time to visit for a number of reasons. First, less foliage will certainly make wildlife easier to spot on and off the trails. And as far as comfort and safety, there are much less biting insects and SNAKES on the trails during the cooler months. With heat, humidity and mosquitoes, hiking this park during the summer months is not recommended in my opinion. Happy trails!

  • @onailag thanks! guess I will plan my trip for thanksgiving!
