Many of the soldiers volunteered, they went just for a limited amount of time, they got paid, fed, clothed, they could smoke weed and shag things. There are still men alive in Vietnam who started fighting at the age of 16 and finished at 50, they are not many as most of them are dead. Often, they couldn't even choose the side, malnourished with a substantial part of the family dead, you do not see them in veteran nuthouses

during the vietnam war all the troops who were KIA came in through Dover AFB which is the capital in my state Delaware. and my uncle tom was in vietnam and i tried to get him to tell me what went on over there and he never said a word. just his job and he was a door gunner in a huey and his job was to collect the dead airmen/soldiers he said it was the worst thing he could ever see.
At least they showed a mean brotha gettin down in the firefight. My uncle was there but he said his divsion got pulled out alittle before shit jumped off. My middle school teacher had pics but he would never tell me how many guys he killed. He just said he couldnt see who he was shooting at, and i knew he was lying because he was the niceses guy ever. @MegaJohndeere @Affenzwirbler1 you can argue oil. but In my opinion I think it was more of "finishing what his father started" although George H W Bush's plan in Operation Desert Storm, was just to liberate Kuwait and thats it, but I think George W Bush saw this as "oh the jobs not done there, lets take out Saddam cause my father didnt finish him back in the 90s" its true there was no "real" reason for going in there besides WMDs (which Saddam did have back in the 90s) I guess our Intel was off.

@koutaman112 technically for the Korean war was a stalemate, no side won it. although in the eyes of North Korea the war is still going on even today! and we won Operation Desert Storm, and technically you can say we won the iraq war because we took out Saddam and we brought democracy to Iraq. Now the Iraqis can take care of the situation so our goal there is done.

We got involved in the 50's and Saigon fell in 75, simply because we pulled financial support and China and the Soviet Union didn't. It was successful until we didn't match funds with the other super powers involved, that's it. You cannot fight a war without beans and bullets so to speak.

Even China is slowly reforming, just take a look at its economy, which has embraced free trade and taken on principles of a free market economy. - selling a country's bonds doesnt mean that country will take over. In fact China's business sphere depends entirely on the US, who they do the most transactions with.

This may be my favorite war to study about n play video games about, but i would be scared shitless if i were shooting vietcong n NVA. The reason why they won was because they knew their land very well and the environment was perfect for guerrilla warfare. the North Vietnamese were by far the cruelest enemy to encounter and get captured by. They were physcotic and some of our soldiers went physco too. God bless the men who served in this war.
