I feel there is need to clarify something. The game does not need Kinect to function. It's an option that individuals who already own the kinect can enable. Kind of like Infamous: festival of blood and the playstation move. Ergo, if you don't own the kinect or own one, but don't want this feature enabled, you can still play the game without the kinect or voice commands.
While I don't endorse controlling shepard through voice commands I can see great potential in the option to command the team's abilities by voice rather than pausing the game and selecting shit on a menu wheel . . .

Kinect support for Mass Effect was a waste of time for Bioware, I wish they would just stick to the main singleplayer story and stop trying to gimmicks. I wouldn't be complaining if ME3 had a longer dev time. 2 years is not enough for the finale. Especially with all the choices and side stories they have to wrap up.

It just feels so damn forced and given ME3's marketing seems to be "ME2 with Kinect and the Omniblade" I feel they could be doing a lot better job. Was hyped to hell and beyond for ME1 and 2 and I'm trying to force myself to be for ME3 but it just isn't working out. Hope I'm wrong and DA2 turns out to be a fluke.

Yeah, because that's what my Mass Effect experience was missing: a sore throat and a half second delay! Kinect, you continue to amaze me. I mean, why should I have to push a few buttons to perform a simple command when I can just yell into a microphone instead? And with the cameras, I can- oh wait. It's not using the cameras. This could have been accomplished with a headset, but that would cost Microsoft's customers less money!

Microsoft could have probably developed this voice recognition technology completely independent of the Kinect system and made it useable with just a regular headset.
But of course, Microsoft being the money grubbing corporate asswipes they are, they gotta make the technology exclusive to some high end piece of machine with a huge price tag on it.
Out of all the gimmicky games on the Wii, none have even approached this level of gimmicky. For fucks sake, the voice recognition is all software, you don't need a kinect to do this. MS could enable the voice recognition with just the normal headset, but instead they'd rather sell you a gimmick.

Yeah, because that's what my Mass Effect experience was missing: a sore throat and a half second delay! Kinect, you continue to amaze me. I mean, why should I have to push a few buttons to perform a simple command when I can just yell into a microphone instead? And with the cameras, I can- oh wait. It's not using the cameras. This could have been accomplished with a headset, but that would cost Microsoft's customers less money!

Microsoft could have probably developed this voice recognition technology completely independent of the Kinect system and made it useable with just a regular headset.
