  • nice to see someone training dogs without pain and intimidation some typical trainers use...

refreshing to see a Minnesotan use a ecollar nicely, everyone I know uses them to only hurt dogs...:(

I saw in some of your videos you have a fenced yard to train in, could one get similar success in a unfenced yard on a really long leash? or with a fenced location away from where the dog would typically be? I wanted to train my rescue to be off leash, but our neighborhood doesn't allow physical fencin

  • @fergielion Yes, you can, and I did (also) use a long line at a park for off leash (just always think SAFETY FIRST). Off leash should really be called Distraction Proof Training, cuz to be 100% reliable off leash, your dog must obey you in the most distracting of situations. And the fence next to my house is temporary, cuz neighbor dog has killed other dogs b4 (more than once), so I needed an extra layer of protection for my dogs' SAFETY, and Thank You for your Compliments.

  • I don't use any food treats at all. I use one of his toys, THATS ALL. My beagle has learned he must be obedient to get rewarded with his toy. As you can see in the video, he starts to jump on me once he knows I have his toy. I'm also training him to stop barking on command. He's a beagle, not any different than any other dog, excect they need to learn eye contact asap, or it's hard to teach a dog that always has their nose to the ground, constantly sniffing.

  • Did you always train him with food as a reward for doing the right thing? How old is he?

  • @manditridas He is 3 years old, He was born on Feb. 29 2008 (Yep, he was a leapyear puppy).
