Okay. What about inversions on your period? I've heard that it's traditionally forbidden in yoga but is there any sort of medicinal grounds for not doing inversions while you're menstruating?
@DizzyDior12 I took a yoga class in college and the book that I had for the course said that all the OB/GYNS the author interviewed said there is no real medical reason for it. The idea I got from this particular text is that the theory springs from the idea of retrograde menstruation, which means that instead of the flowing downward of the fluid, it would go upward and cause endometriosis, among other things. The theory has been disproven but tradition speaks, you know. Basically your judgement
@CzechFitnessGirl Yes please do, it saved myself and the people around me from going insane. It was a life saver as normally I hate to even think about getting my butt up and moving. This is gentle, relaxing movements and I always feel more energized and less depressed. Worth trying, but dont just take it from me. Do it and you will notice a huge difference.
Thanks for ur very good vedio that is really helpful.and I have one question if please you can help and that is: is there any kind of yoga that make ur periods heavy I mean to make periods bleeding because i have periods with out bleeding or with just some spots.so please give me some good advice I am very worried and i will be very very thankful to you. Thanks alot!
This was awesome awesome awesome. I was about to do my morning Pilates routine but decided not to because of mu cramps and I am so glad I googled "Pilates for menstruating women" because you came right up! Now, shower time, studying with a cool mind and work afterwards.
Just did this, and it definitely helped the lower back pressure and eased the cramps a bit. Thanks so much! I kept hearing that you should avoid Yoga during this time.
I tend to have irregular periods accompanied by a lot of crying during my period due to low estrogen. My doctor wants to put me on birth control pills for this problem. I have been looking for an alternative. I wonder if these poses will help me.
@msjoshi33 Hi, your comment has struck a chord with me, as i had suffered from very painful periods that i have to inform you of a herbal remedy that i find works for me. Try raspberry leaf tea as this can balance irregular periods and also ease pain. Before you do so, check out herbal remedies for irregular/painful periods on the internet before making any decisions. You may also want to check out reviews for raspberry leaf tea to get an understanding of how it can help you.
@TheMessyhairdocess I've always heard exercise helps to begin with, as it causes your body to not feel so sluggish and the endorphin rush is well worth it. Yoga has been in my experience at least, the best exercise during mine as it is very purifying, it cleanses mind, body, soul and spirit. It makes me feel wonderful, gives me energy, and balances me out mentally (I have PMDD from Hades and I dont need to take meds for it as long as I'm doing yoga.) And its not taxing at all so anyone can do it
Oooh, will try this next time I get my period. I have always noticed I find myself wanting to curl into interesting positions whenever I have some sort of abdominal pain, so maybe it's my body telling me I should try something like this to relieve it, lol :)
I had some cramps and discomfort before I followed this video and now they're gone. I am definently doing this everyday of all of my menstral cycles. Thank you SO much!
this was randomly in my "reccomended for you" section this morning and it's precisely the thing I need. Thanks for making it:) It makes sense to stretch out some of that pain;)
I think of this particular video almost every time I have my period. There have been times when I was in a large yoga class and wished I was in front of this video. Esther, taking care of women's wombs all over the world. :) Cha, Taiwan
the last move was wonderful! ty so much! my lower back and abs is where most of my pain is... i don't know if you have children or not, but my cramps are more like contractions... constant and extremely painful... meanwhile, the rest of my body is being completely drain of any energy.. and the last move that you did really helped that pain subside slightly... and even the slightest bit of comfort for me is great during this time...
Yes me too, It just felt so good to release the pain, Thank Esther, you are an Angel and I did another yoga excercise with Shilpa and got some massages and I am able to your exercise now without pain, day by day, these videos are helping me gain strength and feel better and yes like you said here , help with blue like days. Thanks I love you Esther!
Thank you so much! Every month I have very heavy flow and extremely painful cramps, but I did this today (my first day on my period this time around) and my cramps were subsiding even as I was practicing.
I did this sequence for a week, and for the first time in about a year, I had a natural period! (I had some periods a few months back, but brought on from fertility meds) It was light, and only lasted a couple of days, but it was the first natural period I'd had in a year!
Thank you so much, and I will keep it up, and hopefully my cycle will get on track. However, Miss Ester, if you think of some poses specifically/good for fertility, please post them or message me. Thank you so much!!!
I think you only do this, is at the time it's comfortable for you, I didn't have a problem until I had bad cramps but I left the exercise until those pains eased off a little an hour later. I find it's the best time to do it when you aren't in too much pain.
My reply didn't attach to the original post. =( I was replying to the comment that said something like too bad I'm a man. Oh well. That's what I meant lol.
Oh what a wonderful idea - thank you! I just came across your videos and I am so glad I did! I love your gentle, relaxed style - I'll be watching more, but for now, I'm off to get rid of the cramps!! xx
Thank you! This helps a lot!
