  • We are all so lucky to have the privilege of loving this AWESOME song!

  • This song Will reign as a true classic...just simply holds up generation after generation...

  • Love this song.

  • One can really hear that bass and guitar riff that is so standard in punk four or five years later. Da-da- dadadadadadada, da-da- dadadadadadada. So innovative; this album - as did Bowie himself - spawned so many other acts. Each song is seminal unto itself. Maybe even each verse spawned a genre of its own. I think all his material is wonderful, but the 1971-1977 period was prolific, rich and undeniably brilliant.

  • David create a genre of music and then leaves as it becomes popular. Only for him to present us with another facet of himself in another genre and another time. No one can claim to be as restless as him.

  • TY for posting ABSOLUTE classic, fook the teens btw, let them suffer to there shit these days, gawd bless BOWIE

  • "Hang On To Yourself" was released in 1972 and today's dance club music and metal-rap crap can't come within light years of this song !!!!

  • Is this the sexiest song in the world?

  • >W< that picture is so ADORABLEE *someones sitting here with a squee face*

  • listen to that riff then tell me who started the punk movement

  • @MrPblower You got that right! I think Bowie and the Kinks were a big influence for punk rock and alternative music. for that matter.

  • A great picture of Dave just before he got his hair cut an teeth done!

  • mick woodmansey on thr drums rocked

  • Great pic of the ol' girl.

  • @ecnalubma696969 - Anyone who doesn't get the funny's a little bit broken. I giggled and muttered "Duchess".

Ah hell I'm a little bit broken too. I actually really like this photo. That wry smirk's terrific. Love a good smirk. Says you're hiding something. The fun part's finding out what. Oops TMI.

Anyway maybe I'm alone but I dig this pic.

  • The song that launched the "punk rock" sound.

The Ramones stole their riffs from this one song.

  • @TruthAxe ramones are dicks

  • @kjsh987 Certainly, the Ramones get accolades to this day that mostly are undeserved. Perhaps, the Ramones have five worthy songs from a big catalog, although one that pales compared to Bowie's.

  • @TruthAxe let me tell you one thing. u cant compare ramones with bowie. ramones did only two sucess, bowie did like 20. bowie gone with germany and made three great experimental rock albums, bowie singed souls perfectly so ramones can be compared with them u get it now?

  • Thanks for sharing Keijz74. Havent heard this in such a long time. Love the line - "You better hang on to yourself" - so true that - Wonderful to be part of "Something" but keeping your own seperate identity and sense of self is important. Bowie still looking and sounding great today.

  • AMOO ESTA CANCIOONN!!!! O/or "I love this songggg!!!"

  • Bowie wrote it, but Ronson ROCKED IT with his crunchy, gorgeous guitar playing. (Not a bad singer, either)

  • YouTubeVideoToMp3 (.) com

  • Glam wasn't about being a shooting star so much as it was about portraying yourself as one and playing the part. Self-realization is the dream baby ;)

  • WHAT A GREAT SONG ! WHAT TALENT THAT IS NOT SEEN NOW A DAYS !!

I feel sorry for teens today that think American Idol is the best music. PLEASE buy a BOWIE , STONES, Lou Reed album

  • Have all three of them! Love them. I was born in the glam era

  • @NelsonMuntzPhoto yeah, but what are you gonna do??? great music is still out there being produced today, but it's ALL stuck in various garages, produced & released in VERY small numbers privately, and heard by only a few lucky people these days. and if i thought, even for a second, that American Idol was the be all, end all of the music industry, i'd shoot myself in the crotch with a shotgun.

  • top tune! glitters never fail!

  • I'm hanging on your every word, move, look, stroke, etc....

  • One of the best rock-n-roll songs ever!

  • @nicademus666 More like one of the best bowie songs ever!! That God is a genre in himself!

  • Totally agree on this: one of the best albums ever. Full stop. Especially the liner note on the original LP ...TO BE PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME. Thanks for the memories Bo Bo ... and all those amazing concerts.

  • Great song. One pic. Blech!

  • :))

  • Ziggy Stardust concept could have been a major embarrassment for David. Nobody else could have pulled it off to such incredible success.

  • Why? The concept was solid and innovative.

  • You can't sing songs about "I'm gonna be a huge rock star - just watch me now" without being a fantastic rock star yourself. And the clothes, everything. It would be a huge success or a big flop, depending on the actor.

  • Lyrics to this album are so quotable

"She wants my honey not my money, funky thigh collector" etc.

    =lots of drugs

But Bowie cool with or without them.

  • One of my favorite songs Bowie is a genious and Ziggy is one of the best albums I have ever heard.
